If there was a single clothing item that could prove that comfort and style truly can go hand in hand, it's a pair of flat sandals. From sleek leather slides to a modern take on fisherman sandals, these sandals will bring effortless polish to any springtime look. Rebecca Tay explores five of the season's best pairs:

Sure, these puffy strap Perrie sandals by Miz Mooz aren't technically flat, but they're just as comfortable, thanks to their flatform silhouette, and perhaps even more versatile with the resulting two-inch lift you'll get with them strapped to your feet. Float through spring and summer by wearing these with shorts or wide-leg trousers for day and dresses and skirts for evening.

Merging the best parts of an espadrille and a slide, these Erireni sandals in a dreamy pastel yellow hue are a surprising multitasker. Teamed with a summer dress in a matching colour, they look effortlessly elegant for errands or even a baby shower. Try them with cropped pants or jeans for a more relaxed, casual weekend feel.

Made in Italy from soft black leather, these sandals are a chic hybrid between a chunky, not-too-girlie fisherman sandal and a slip-on-and-go mule. What's more, the classic black hue makes them a smart, no-brainer choice for office days and when you're running short on time, while the easy shape all but guarantees they'll be on high rotation in your wardrobe this summer.

We remember a time when sandals with large cross-crossing straps were mainly fashioned from rubber and worn by grandpa types or to take out the trash. These days, like most things from the '90s, there's something reassuringly nostalgic about the silhouette — though the padded straps on this Jackie style is nothing if not modern. They also come in tan, white, black and a fun, bright tomato red, so you can literally wear them with every outfit this season.

With their artfully braided strap, these Wisteria sandals from Browns Shoes' in-house label, Browns Couture, were seemingly made for minimalists with an eye for those extra details. The upper snakes gracefully around your feet, while the cushioned flat sole means they're likely to stay comfortable for hours, no matter the occasion.

SO/ Paris is the chicest hotel for pampering, dining and shopping
One of the world's coolest hotels has stepped into the loungewear category for the second time. SO/ Paris – a contemporary property from Accor and restaurant group Paris Society – just dropped another collaboration with Berlin-based label Tom Àdam. Article content The luxe hotel has become somewhat of a hotspot in recent years, known for its refined, chic decor and breathtaking view of the Seine River. Every inch of the place feels like a magazine editorial, blending art deco and futurism with a rustic orange and gold tone palette. It's easy to see why the place has become a fashion week fixture on the social calendar. Article content Article content Article content Article content The latest SO/ x Tom Àdam collaboration plays on the colour scheme of the hotel's river view, blending both the relaxed and sophisticated vibes of the SO/ brand. The center of the collection is the two-piece loungewear set ($470) in navy blue, made out of cozy and sustainable Tencel. The hotel's logo is subtly embroidered on the front pocket for an 'if you know, you know' nod to the SO/ Paris. Our favourite part of this set is the pieces can easily be worn out-and-about, as well as styled with jeans (or whatever you like) – or kept as a pajama set. Article content The true star of the line, however, is the matching navy blue sleep mask ($95) which guarantees a good night's sleep at the hotel and beyond. Packaged in a matching and reusable drawstring bag, this accessory is an easy one to travel with or lovely to gift a friend. Also made of Tencel, the mask is adjustable for comfort and breathable for sensitive skin. The line follows the orange-themed collaboration from last year, which also included a pajama set and striped sleep mask. Article content Article content Conveniently located steps from the Sully-Morland Metro station between Bastille and Le Marais, the SO/ Paris is a rare ultra-modern hotel experience in the French capital that doesn't compromise on Parisian style. Attention to detail is at the core of the experience as soon as you enter the doors; guests are welcomed with a signature non-alcoholic refresher made of rhubarb, pineapple and rose to set the stage. Patou-designed staff uniforms are also a nice touch, playing into the curated experience of the hotel.

These days, your coverup is as important a part of your summer style lineup as your swimwear itself. What's more, as our travel bucket lists continue to grow, maximizing vacation days and making the most of every hour is crucial, so multi-tasking outfits and pieces that go easily from the swimming pool to sightseeing are also key. The Sleep Shirt, | $395 Embroidered Crinkle-Finish Open Tunic A lightweight, easy breezy tunic is the ultimate summer essential, and this one by Simons' in-house label is made from Lenzing Ecovero viscose, which is a more responsible variant of viscose that's made from sustainable wood and cellulose. With its loose fit, V-shaped neckline, batwing sleeves and open sides, it's the picture of sophistication in optic white. Best of all, its slightly crinkled texture helps disguise wrinkles, so you can throw it in your beach bag and know it'll still look good for impromptu gatherings when the sun sets. Instead, reach for this Fitzgerald dress by Babaton. Made from 100 per cent organic linen, it's breathable and lightweight, but completely lined in cotton so you can pull it on and go stylishly to dinner fully supported.
