Internet schools woman complaining about white blankets covering Swiss Alps
The mood in the sweltering heat? A breezy summer vacation in the Swiss Alps. People who have been planning this exciting trip for months are excited to indulge in a plethora of snow adventures and take a deep, relaxing breath amidst the cold Alps.
However, a woman's dreams of a dreamy holiday in the Swiss Alps resulted in a disheartening realisation when she found no snow and hot temperatures up in the famous peaks. Taking to Instagram, she shared a video of the Swiss Alps covered in white blankets and wrote "Europe walon ne mamoo bana diya pahar ki chooti pe sakht garmi and no baraf"
She added how they completed a long journey to reach the top only to realise that the snow was covered by sheets and had even carried jackets which were of no use due to the hot weather all around, thus accusing Europeans of fooling people about the snowy and cold Swiss Alps.

While typically, netizens would have a field day adding their own problems and bad experiences in the comments, this time around the comments took a surprising turn.
People in the comments section readily schooled the woman who was quick to be disappointed with the trip without understanding or enquiring about the reasons for the blankets covering the snow.
A person shared that the sheets are called "reflective sheets or glacier blankets" and they are used to reflect sunlight and slow down snow and ice melting.
The sheets are effective in reducing melting by 70% in covered areas. They added that they are there to protect the environment and since they are expensive they are not found in India. "Please stay informed instead of spreading wrong information," they wrote.
Many others added the same information to enlighten the woman on the vital reason the mountains were covered with the sheets, adding that it is important as skiing is a prominent culture in Europe, especially Switzerland.
Others also mocked her behaviour writing, "That's why education is important - so you can pretend to be a functioning member of society 😂"

Spanning more than 1,000 kilometres across 8 European countries, the Swiss Alps are Earth's largest and highest mountain range. Images comparing the area from 1984 to 2024, show changes in the length and width of the glaciers and a net loss of ice mass.
According to news reports, the summer of 2024 melted the abundant snowfall received in the previous winter leading to the Swiss glaciers losing 2.5% of their volume.
The increased melting of the glaciers not only threatens the freshwater supply but also increases the risk of landslides and floods and contributes to sea level rise.

Watch: This Unique Restaurant In Tokyo Serves Authentic Bengali Dishes
For most Bengalis, food isn't just about nourishment, but it's comfort and nostalgia served on a plate. You could be a thousand miles away from home, adjusting to a new culture and yet it's one simple whiff of mustard oil or the comforting aroma of kosha mangsho that can tug at your heart like nothing else. So imagine stumbling upon an authentic Bengali restaurant, not in Kolkata or any other part of India, but in the heart of Tokyo, Japan — a city known more for sushi than shorshe ilish. A Hindi-speaking Japanese blogger, Mayo, came across one such restaurant serving delicious Bengali meals in Tokyo and shared her experience on Instagram. Decked up in a saree, Mayo says in the video, ' Tokyo mei best Bengali khana khaane jaa rahi hu. (I'm going to eat the best Bengali food in Tokyo). A leaflet at the entrance, however, makes her stop. It reads in Japanese, "Naan wa arimasen," which translates to "There is no naan'. Once inside, Mayo finds herself in a whole new world: the restaurant is decorated with traditional instruments, boards bearing Bengali transcripts are hung on the wall and there's an idol of Goddess Durga as well. 'Am I in India?' she playfully asks a person playing dhol, to which he obviously replies, 'No, you're in Tokyo.' Mayo then strikes up a conversation with a Bengali woman, the restaurant's owner. She tells the blogger that they don't serve naan as Bengalis usually prefer rice. The woman reveals that she has been running the restaurant for 20 years. After that, Mayo treats herself to an authentic Bengali thali featuring fish curry, mutton kosha, chingri (prawn) malaikari, dal, aloo posto, fish fry, and bhetki paturi. We also spotted an earthen pot of what appeared to be mishti doi — a classic Bengali dessert. Relishing the meal with her hands, Mayo says in Bengali, ' Oh maa ki shundor (Oh my god, so nice).' View this post on Instagram A post shared by Mayo Japan (@mayojapan) A flurry of reactions was in order: 'Bengali foods are always the best,' claimed a user. 'I'm Malayali but I love Bengali foods,' admitted another. 'Now I'm craving some bhetkir paturi and fish fry,' admitted a foodie. 'Being a bong, I really appreciate this,' noted one person. 'Japanese and Bengalis have a deep-rooted connection right from the pre-Independence era,' read a remark. So far, the video has received over 2.2 million views.
