's latest film 'Sitaare Zameen Par' is proving to be one of the brighter box office stories of the year. Released in June, this sports drama started its journey in cinemas with a bang and has managed to keep audiences hooked for weeks.
Now, as it enters its fourth week, the film is racing towards the big Rs 160 crore mark.
A jump on the fourth Saturday
The film did see a little dip when it kicked off its fourth week on Friday with just Rs 90 lakh. But it seems to be bouncing back quite well. According to early reports from Sacnilk, 'Sitaare Zameen Par' earned Rs 2.50 crore on its 23rd day, which was also the fourth Saturday since its release. This healthy jump brought its total collection to a strong Rs 157.75 crore.
Looking at this the film may soon cross the Rs 160 crore mark by Sunday or at the latest by Monday.
The weekend numbers have usually outshone the weekdays.

What makes this film even more special is that it features ten neurodivergent actors who make their acting debut. These include Aroush Datta as Satbir, Gopi Krishnan Varma as Guddu, Vedant Sharmaa as Bantu, Naman Misra as Hargovind, Rishi Shahani as Sharmaji, Rishabh Jain as Raju, Ashish Pendse as Sunil Gupta, Samvit Desai as Karim Qureshi, Simran Mangeshkar as Golu Khan, and Aayush Bhansali as Lotus. Their presence has added an honest and refreshing layer to the film.
Facing fresh competition
Despite its strong run, 'Sitaare Zameen Par' is not without challenges. Many new films have come out, giving cinema-goers plenty of choices and splitting collections. Anurag Basu's multi-starrer 'Metro..In Dino',
Shanaya Kapoor
's debut opposite
Vikrant Massey
in 'Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan' has hit screens. Rajkummar Rao's much-awaited 'Maalik' also released on the same day, pulling in a big chunk of movie lovers. If that wasn't enough, Hollywood's 'Superman' also arrived in theatres, yet 'Sitaare Zameen Par' is holding its ground.
'Sitaare Zameen Par' review
'Sitaare Zameen Par' has also received decent reviews from critics. The Times of India gave it a 3.5-star rating. In their words, 'The film mixes sentiment with spunk, avoiding overly preachy tones. ID (intellectual disabilities) is described through relatable lines like, 'Humaari kismat haathon pe nahi, chromosome pe likh ke aati hai (Our destiny isn't written on our palms — it's written in our chromosomes).' While the underdog sports narrative and troubled-coach arc feel familiar, the film's heart and humour keep it engaging.
'
But it wasn't all praise. The same review pointed out, 'That said, the story does wander. Subplots involving his mother, Preeto (Dolly Ahluwalia Tewari), and their butler Daulatji (Bijendra Kala) contribute little to the core story. A few other sequences feel stretched, and pacing suffers in parts. The climax gets overly sentimental in parts. Some scenes, like the team managing airfare and accommodation for the final match, come across as convenient and trite.

Rajkummar Rao opens up about doing multiple films a year while others choose to slow down

At a time when many actors are choosing to slow down and take on fewer projects, Rajkummar Rao has opened up about his decision to stay consistently busy with multiple films. The actor shared that his choices are driven by instinct and a passion for strong scripts, rather than any planned strategy. When asked how he continues to do multiple films in a year, Rao said that there was no set plan behind it. The 'Stree' actor explained that it all happened coincidentally, and his choices are largely based on gut feeling. If he connects with a script and trusts the team behind it, he agrees to take it up. 00:52 Rajkummar Rao opens up about Badhaai Do! Rajkummar told IANS, "I don't know. I think it just happened. I didn't plan it that way, to be honest. It's just a coincidence that it happened. But this year, of course, Bhool Chuk Maaf was released, and now Malik is coming, and there will be Toaster, I guess, this year itself. But apart from that, no, there will be only three films this year. But I don't plan it. I go with my gut feeling if I like a script; if I like the maker and the team attached to that script, then I say yes to it. " "And also, I do one film at a time. That is something I cannot change. I have to finish one film, take a break, and then move on to the next one. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Villas For Sale in Dubai Might Surprise You Dubai villas | search ads Get Deals Undo But yeah, even I plan every year that I am going to do less work. But then I get scripts like Malik or Shrikant, and I say I have to do this. Because we all are greedy as actors, right? We want to work on the best scripts available." When asked whether he plans his year in advance by mentally calculating how much time each project would take, the Srikanth actor explained, "Of course, date-wise, you have to manage that there are only this many dates available in a year. So, you make that calendar mental note that this film is asking for four months or two months. Then I can have a one-month break. Then maybe I can finish this one in three months. So that mental calculation is there." Rajkummar Rao's latest release, "Maalik," has opened to mixed reviews. The film features Rao in the titular role, alongside Prosenjit Chatterjee and Manushi Chhillar . "Maalik" was released on 11 July 2025.

Abhishek Bachchan reveals how he's not gotten cynical despite failures: ‘It's difficult as people derive pleasure by rubbing it in your face but I'm not a bitter person'

Abhishek Bachchan who made his debut in the year 2000 with 'Refugee' hasn't seen an easy journey. He had a rocky start as his first few films didn't do well at the box office. His first hit was 'Dhoom'. Over the years, the actor has continued to battle criticism and failures, but just as one meets him today, he's always positive. His way of looking at things has never been negative. In a recent chat with ETimes, when asked how he's managed to not get cynical, the actor said, 'Of course, you get cynical. It's very difficult not to when on a weekly basis you're failing publicly and it's being rubbed in your face and people are deriving great pleasure by rubbing it in your face. So you get cynical, but you have to try your best to not remain cynical or be bitter about it. I'm not the kind of person who gets bitter. I'm always the kind of person who looks at the brighter side of life. I do think that life served me well most times and sometimes, it doesn't serve me well and that's all right.' Further when asked about how he's managed to maintain that childlike quality in him, he said, 'I don't know how I've been able to maintain that childlike quality and I don't even want to know. Because the minute I'll figure it out, I'll just lose it. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Is it legal? It's about being genuine, right? I'm not somebody who can put on a facade and maintain it. If I fight with somebody and I'm sulking with somebody, I'll sulk for like an hour and then I'm done. That's just the personality I am.' The actor was recently seen in 'Kaalidhar Laapata' for which he's getting a lot of appreciation as it began streaming on Zee5 from July 4 onwards.
