The team at Criminal Record met today to discuss the brutal gangland killings after Ross Monaghan and Eddie Lyons Jnr were gunned down in Spain.
The two senior Lyons clan members were executed by a gunman at Monaghan's Bar in the Costa Del Sol on Saturday night.
The key lieutenants were assassinated outside Monaghan's bar in Fuengirola amid a violent turf war raging across Scotland since March.
In a brand new podcast, which has been launched by the Record this week, crime reporter Norman Silvester spoke about the killings that shocked the country.
Silvester spoke in detail about what happened on the night as we discussed chilling CCTV footage which showed the gunman inside Monaghan's bar as the pair were assassinated.
The crime specialist then discussed at length the history of the Lyons gang and their bloody feud with the Daniels clan - which dates back more than 20 years.
As Silvester explains, it is claimed the feud between the two crime families first began over control of drugs turf.
In 2001 a large stash of Daniels' cocaine was stolen from a house in the Milton area of Glasgow and sold on to the Lyons.
The rivalry between the two crime family networks has seen shootings, stabbings, hit and runs, firebomb attacks, police corruption and drug trafficking busts.
We also discussed the possibility that the shootings could be linked to Scotland's ongoing gangland war which broke out earlier this year.
Silvester spoke about how the underworld feud first erupted after Edinburgh kingpin Mark Richardson's cronies stole a £500,000 stash of cocaine from a Dubai-based "Mr Big" known as Ross McGill, using fake cash.
The Lyons gang were thought to be supporting Dubai-based McGill who waged a war on Mark Richardson - and associates the Daniels family.
Finally, we discussed the likelihood of the notorious Lyons crime seeking a bloody revenge - and what this might involve.

It comes as Scotland's top cops issued a warning that forces at home and abroad are working to snare mobstres orchestrating chaos while hiding in foreign lands. The message issued to The Scottish Sun today also warns mystery folk behind social media accounts claiming to represent TMJ. The sinister threat reads: 'As we have stated previously, TMJ do not have any social media accounts. 'We've neer been on TikTok, Instagram or any of these platforms and never will be. 'Social media is for snitches as we've seen over the last few months from the gremlins and their associates. 'Anyone we find creating any accounts under our name will be targeted.' It goes on to issue a dig at cops who have made 50 arrests as part of Operation Portaledge - the crackdown on a raging war that has included firebombings, shooting and attempted murder bids. It adds: 'We will continue our pursuit against the gremlins regardless of Operation Portaledge for many years to come. 'This is the final video we will be releasing. Slain Minnesota House Speaker Melissa Hortman laid to rest
Former Minnesota House Speaker Melissa Hortman will be laid to rest alongside her husband on Saturday, weeks after her "politically motivated assassination" stunned the nation. Hortman, a Democrat who served as the speaker of the Minnesota House of Representatives from 2019 till her slaying, and her husband, Mark Hortman, were shot and killed in their Brooklyn Park home on June 14. Democratic state Sen. John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette Hoffman, were also shot at their nearby home the same day. The Hoffmans survived the encounter. Hortman, 55, her husband and their golden retriever, who was also killed in the attack, lied in state at the Minnesota Capitol rotunda on Friday. Hortman was the first woman to receive the honor at the state's capital building, which drew thousands of mourners. The pair's funeral is expected to bring together some of the nation's most prominent politicians, including former President Joe Biden, former Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz. The private services will be livestreamed on YouTube. The attacks were part of what authorities described as long list of planned political onslaughts. Authorities said that Vance Boelter, 57, the man charged in connection with the attacks, impersonated a law enforcement officer to carry out the shootings. Officials said he approached the lawmakers homes wearing a vest, a blue long-sleeve shirt and what appeared to be a badge, to gain access to the properties and throw the lawmakers off their guards. The shootings prompted the largest manhunt in the state's history, with the dispersement of more than 200 law enforcement officers. Authorities found Vance, who has pleaded not guilty to the charges, two days after the shootings occurred, armed and crawling in a field in a sparsely populated stretch of Minnesota, according to officials. Officials said they found a notebook that belonged to Boelter with a hit list of other politicians, particularly those who have vocally supported abortion. The list included politicians from states beyond Minnesota, including Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan, Nebraska and Iowa, according to authorities. Boelter's wife spoke out about the attacks for the first tim e on Thursday. "We are absolutely shocked, heartbroken and completely blindsided,' she said in a statement through her attorney. "This violence does not at all align with our beliefs as a family. It is a betrayal of everything we hold true as tenets of our Christian Faith. We are appalled and horrified by what occurred, and our hearts are incredibly heavy for the victims of the unfathomable tragedy." The United States has become more accustomed to acts of political violence in recent years. In 2020, Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer was the subject of a kidnapping plot. Last year, President Donald Trump faced two assassination attempts while he was running for office. And in April, an attacker firebombed Gov. Josh Shapiro's residence because of his position on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Hortman's slaying prompted a rare form of unity among Democratic and Republican leadership, with the highest members of both parties, including President Donald Trump, condemning the attacks.

5G phone mast 'set on fire deliberately' as VodafoneThree 'support police probe'
The telecoms giant said a firebug started the blaze. Scots 5G mast destroyed by flames A Scots 5G mast which went ablaze leading to nearby residents being evacuated was started deliberately, a mobile phone company has said. The blaze tore through the mobile phone mast late on Wednesday June 19, leading to residents and vehicles being evacuated from the Ardrossan street in North Ayrshire. Enough much damage was caused to the radio antenna for the company to then take the mast down. VodafoneThree, the network which owns the mast, have now said the blaze last week was started deliberately. The newly-merged mobile phone company also said they are assisting Police Scotland with a probe into the incident. A VodafoneThree spokesperson told the Record: "A mast in Stanley Road was damaged earlier this month in an arson attack. "The equipment has been safely removed and we are working to bring the site back online as quickly as possible. " Service is being provided by nearby sites but customers may notice a degradation in service while we bring the site back online. "We are supporting the police as they conduct their enquiries." We told previously how locals in the Ayrshire town were woken from their beds in the early hours of the morning as flames tore through the mast, inches from a park. Residents were later allowed to return to their properties as work to extinguish the blaze and make the mast safe continued. The clear-up operation in the town's Stanley Road lasted until around 4am on Thursday June 19, and the road was shut and cordoned off by police. The cordon ran from outside the Stanleys Kitchen Chinese takeaway to the junction with St Andrew's Road, at the other side of the park, and the road was closed for around eight hours. One local said: "We got woken up at about 1am with the door being rattled so we could move our cars. We had no clue it was on fire, we were in such a deep sleep. "It must have happened just before midnight last night. They were drilling and there was a fire engine there until about 3.45am this morning. The road was shut from the Chinese to the other junction at St Andrew's Road. They reopened the road about 9am, there were firefighters back sweeping the road this morning. It's just the path next to it that's closed now." Another local said: "There's a park right next to the mast which has a football pitch and goals. The kids from the nearby streets play in it all day, every day. It's just as well this happened at night, because if it had happened during the day then it could have been much, much worse. I dread to think how it could've turned out." Pictures showed the body of the mast and the top of it charred black, with the box at the bottom also fire damaged. No new statement was provided by the force regarding VodafoneThree's support of any inquiry.
