Watch: King marvels at Dynamo magic trick
His Majesty, 76, reunited with the magician, now known by his real name Steven Frayne, as he performed an elaborate card trick for the monarch.
The King told Mr Frayne he was getting 'better and better'.
'It's extraordinary,' the monarch said as he watched the magician at work.
The Bradford-born magician, 42, started his career with a grant from the King's Trust, formerly the Prince's Trust, in 2003. The Trust has helped more than one million young people since being founded in 1976.
During Thursday's visit, Mr Frayne hailed the monarch for his early support in his career.
'I wouldn't be doing magic today without the support you gave me,' he told the King, adding that the pair 'go way back'.
Mr Frayne also revealed he is part of the world's most famous magic society alongside the King himself.
When Charles asked if he was a member of the Magic Circle, the magician replied: 'Yes. I think we're in the top level now. There's only a select few. I believe you're in there as well?'
The monarch laughed and recalled being granted honorary membership of the elite magicians' club in 1975 after performing a trick where balls appear and disappear under upside down cups. He said: 'Yes, a cup and balls thing. It's impossible.'
The King then hailed the famous magician's 'gift of the gab', his 'remarkable determination' and his 'incredible amounts of practice'.
'It's the gift of the gab,' he told Mr Frayne. 'You go on talking so people don't know what you're doing.'
'The best moments happen in silence'
Mr Frayne explained that sometimes 'the best moments happen in the silence,' saying that training as a magician is similar to being an athlete.
'It's almost like training like an athlete, because obviously 2003 when we first met, to get to here now – that's a lot of magic I've got to come up with and I've got to keep reinventing myself, keep coming up with new ideas,' he added.
When asked where he got his ideas, Mr Frayne told the King: 'A lot of them come from experiences travelling around, and sometimes I have to lock myself away in my magic cage. I've got a magic headquarters. And I have to lock myself away in there and see what magic comes out.'
Mr Frayne then went on to delight the King with some card tricks. Instead of guessing Charles's choice from a deck of cards by making it reappear in a pocket, as he did with other volunteers, he turned to the King and said: 'But your card, I'm going to try it a bit differently.
'So I take my phone and let me see how you've got the WiFi in the area, I want you to focus on your card and just name it out loud.'
The King confirmed his card was the king of hearts, to which Mr Frayne revealed that not only had the magician's mobile phone changed the network to show the name king of hearts, but so had all the mobile phones in the room.
It came during a day of engagements for the King and Queen in Bradford to celebrate the people and heritage of the current UK City of Culture.
Their Majesties were welcomed on Thursday morning by a performance from Paraorchestra, an ensemble of professional disabled and non-disabled musicians, and a gathered crowd.
The King later received a hug from Imran Khan, a tailor whom he previously met in 2022 and had subsequently sent him a specially-made jacket.
Mr Khan, who runs IK Collections, received a letter from Buckingham Palace thanking him for the 'wonderful' jacket.
On Thursday, the pair reunited in Bradford during a visit to Impact Hub Yorkshire, which provides support to businesses finding sustainable solutions to social challenges.
The King and Queen visit set the seal on the year-long celebrations after Bradford was chosen as the UK City of Culture over 20 other bids in May 2022 by the Government to showcase its best music, arts and heritage.
Bradford 2025 is taking place throughout Bradford district, an area of 141 square miles across West Yorkshire.
It features performances, exhibitions, events and activities inspired by the variety in the landscape, from the city's historic centre to the surrounding countryside, with a focus on the people of Bradford, from local artists to the diverse communities who call the city home.

Lisa Faulkner revealed she was on the way to film something first thing this morning as she got back to work following her husband's BBC axing scandal. Her husband John, 60, was fired from MasterChef after 20 years following an allegation of racism last month, after he revealed he was the subject of a claim that was upheld as part of an inquiry into his co-star Gregg Wallace. Following his unceremonious departure from the broadcaster it was revealed by the Daily Mail that ITV, where John also fronts TV shows, were backing him. While she did not confirm which show she was working on, Lisa shared a picture from the back of a car on Monday morning and said she was heading to work. Lisa Faulkner co-hosts the ITV show John & Lisa's Weekend Kitchen with her husband as well as working as a contributor on Lorraine. Sources at ITV recently told us that it will continue to broadcast the tenth series of John and Lisa's Weekend Kitchen rather than pulling it from the schedule. The Australian chef was dramatically axed from MasterChef - hours after the BBC's director general refused to back him over an allegation of racism. The corporation said the host's contract would not be renewed after a report found he had used an 'extremely offensive racist term' during drinks after filming the show. The complaint against John was revealed in the report into co-presenter Gregg Wallace's inappropriate behaviour. Gregg, 60, was sacked after dozens of complaints against him were upheld. John identified himself on Monday as an unnamed person in the report who was accused of using 'racist language'. However, the presenter said 'he had absolutely no recollection' of the incident and did 'not believe that it happened'. But in a statement yesterday, the BBC said: 'This allegation - which involves an extremely offensive racist term being used in the workplace - was investigated and substantiated by the independent investigation led by the law firm Lewis Silkin. 'The BBC takes this upheld finding extremely seriously. 'We will not tolerate racist language of any kind and we told Banijay UK, the makers of MasterChef, that action must be taken. John Torode's contract on MasterChef will not be renewed.' Hours before the announcement, BBC director general Tim Davie had refused to back John and said he expected 'action to be taken' over the allegation. He delivered the remarks as the BBC released its annual report - an occasion overshadowed by controversies for the second year in a row. Responding to his sacking, John, who is married to actress and former Celebrity MasterChef contestant Lisa Faulkner, said: 'I'd hoped that I'd have some say in my exit from a show I've worked on since its relaunch in 2005, but events in the last few says seem to have prevented that.' He said he 'had loved every minute' working on the show but it was 'time to pass the cutlery to someone else'. The government could ban 'barely legal' pornography featuring adults dressed as children after Bonnie Blue 's Channel 4 documentary sparked backlash for 'glamorising' extreme content. The proposed ban by the independent pornography taskforce - set up in July by Conservative peer Gabby Bertin - comes in response to the new programme 1,000 men and me: The Bonnie Blue story. The show features Blue gearing up to have sex with 1,057 in the space of just 12 hours. The infamous sex worker, 26, has made headlines for her extreme sex stunts and controversial language - such as bragging about taking the virginities of 'barely legal' 18-year-olds. Her documentary includes footage of her in a classroom getting ready to film an orgy with a group of models posed as schoolchildren. The performers accepted they had been selected for the role because they look young enough to still be at school. The show was condemned by the children's commissioner for England, Dame Rachel de Souza, for 'glamorising and normalising' extreme forms of pornography. Lady Bertin said she will lodge amendments to the crime and policing bill this autumn, making it illegal for online platforms to show content that could promote child sexual abuse. This would include pornography filmed by adults dressed as children. 'This content is pushing at the boundaries. We will be trying to address the 'barely legal' aspect legislatively,' she told The Guardian. Ofcom was charged with monitoring whether adult content sites are protecting UK viewers from encountering illegal material featuring child sex abuse by the Online Safety Act. However, forms of damaging porn that are regulated offline (such as in cinemas) are not subjected to the same restrictions online - meaning adults dressed as children to mimic child sexual abuse is not prohibited online. Channel 4 has faced immense criticism for promoting Blue's brand, and for failing to properly challenge her claim that her sexual activity is safe. Smirnoff and Visa are two in a string of businesses to have pulled online adverts from streaming of the documentary. De Souza previously slammed the programme for 'glamorising and normalising' extreme porn. De Souza said: 'For years we have been fighting to protect our children from the kind of degrading, violent sex that exists freely on their social media feeds. Now this documentary risks taking us a step back by glamorising, even normalising the things young people tell me are frightening. 'Bonnie Blue's content showcases violence against women as entertainment and allows sexist ideas that women are 'lesser' than men to go unchecked.' The programme did not pixelate any nudity and included clips from Bonnie Blue's stunt including a snippet of the star having sex with three men at the same time Lady Bertin said Blue's programme could be on the agenda at the taskforce's next meeting. 'She has become extremely successful; she is an adult and it is consensual, so it may not be harming her, but it has potentially harmful effects on people who think that this is a normal way to behave,' she said. 'We should be asking more about the men who arrive with balaclavas on their head to have sex with her.' A Channel 4 spokesperson said: 'The film looks at how Bonnie Blue has gained worldwide attention and earned millions of pounds in the last year, exploring changing attitudes to sex, success, porn and feminism in an ever-evolving online world. 'Director Victoria Silver puts a number of challenges to Bonnie throughout the documentary on the example she sets and how she is perceived, and the film clearly lays bare the tactics and strategies she uses, with the audience purposefully left to form their own opinions.'
