#15 - December 29, 2008: vs #22 Northwestern (San Antonio, Texas) Chase Daniel leads Mizou to 30-23 OT win in his final game with the Tigers
Mizzou capped its 2008 season by facing off against No. 22 Northwestern in the Alamo Bowl. Led by senior quarterback Chase Daniel, the Tigers rallied from an early deficit, highlighted by Jeremy Maclin's monstrous 75-yard punt return for a touchdown. Daniel passed for 200+ yards despite three interceptions, and Jeff Wolfert's clutch 37-yard field goal tied the game late. In overtime, Daniel hit Maclin for the go-ahead score to make it 30-23. The Tigers' defense came up strong in OT, shutting down the Wildcats' final drive to seal Mizzou's second straight 10-win season.

#14 - October 15, 2005: vs Iowa State Chase Daniel replaces injured Brad Smith, leads team to 27-24 OT win

The Tigers dominated Iowa State early as William Moore's 62‑yard interception return and Xzavie Jackson's fumble recovery for a touchdown put Mizzou up 14‑0 inside 90 seconds. Iowa State fought back to lead 24‑14 by the fourth quarter. After starting quarterback Brad Smith went down with an injury, freshman QB Chase Daniel rallied Missouri late, setting up Adam Crossett's overtime-winning 26‑yard field goal. Daniel's composure after relief duties, and the Tigers' opportunistic defense secured a gritty OT win on homecoming, topping the Cyclones 27-24.
#13 - October 25, 2003: vs. Texas Tech QB Brad Smith rushes for 291 yards in 62-31 rout of Red Raiders
In an incredible showing of athleticism, quarterback Brad Smith exploded for 291 rushing yards and five touchdowns on just 19 carries, plus a solid 128 passing yards. Running back Zack Abron added 139 yards and three short rushing scores, cementing the Tigers' bowl eligibility. Missouri piled up 469 rushing yards and forced early turnovers, leading to a commanding 34–10 halftime lead. Smith's explosive fourth quarter runs of 41 and 61 yards capped the blowout, and the Tigers topped the Red Raiders for a homecoming victory of 62-31.
#12 - September 27, 2014: at #13 South Carolina Mizzou wins battle of Columbia with 21-20 upset

Trailing 20–7 deep into the fourth against the Gamecocks, the Tigers relied on senior Russell Hansbrough, who scored all three touchdowns, including two within the final seven minutes of the game. QB Maty Mauk delivered clutch throws late—a 41-yard strike to Bud Sasser and a 26-yard pass to Wesley Leftwich—to set up Hansbrough's game‑winning score. Missouri's defense forced South Carolina into a scoreless final drive, preserving the Tigers' razor‑thin lead of 21-20. Their massive comeback marked Mizzou's seventh straight road win and fueled their SEC East title defense.

#11 - November 3, 2018: at #13 Florida Mizzou downs #13 Gators in the Swamp
The Tigers bolted to a 21-3 lead before the half and pulled away with two third-quarter TDs. Florida struggled early, benching QB Feleipe Franks midway through the third, but it was too little, too late as Missouri outgained the Gators 471-323. Drew Lock was on fire, completing 24/32 for 250 yards and three touchdowns, while Missouri's ground attack racked up 223 rushing yards. Under Barry Odom, the Tigers silenced the home crowd, executed in all three phases, and defiantly reminded everyone that they belonged in the SEC.

Braves and Reds both score eight runs in the same inning
With all due respect to the MLB trade deadline, Thursday's most ridiculous moment came in the eighth inning of the Atlanta Braves-Cincinnati Reds game. It was a normal game for seven innings. The Reds took a 3-0 lead in the third but the Braves came back, tying the game in the sixth. Classic baseball stuff. And then the Braves scored eight runs in the top of the eighth, opening the frame with five straight hits and notching another six straight baserunners after a Jurickson Profar strikeout. The Reds went through four relievers in that inning before Brent Suter finally ended the inning, with the game seemingly lost at 11-3. The Reds responded with eight straight hits to open the bottom of the inning, capped off by a three-run homer from Spencer Steer. Per Elias Sports, it was only the third time in MLB history that both teams scored at least eight runs in the same inning, joining a Detroit Tigers-Texas Rangers game on May 8, 2004 and a Chicago White Sox-New York Yankees game on Aug. 2, 2007. No more runs came in the ninth, sending the game to extras where the Braves prevailed via a sacrifice fly from Marcell Ozuna in the 10th inning. Braves closer Raisel Iglesias prevented the ghost runner from scoring to deny the Reds their best win of the year. It all made for a fun win probability chart. The game was one of only three played on trade deadline day, in which the Reds were a moderate buyer and the Braves were a hesitant seller. Atlanta is well out of the playoffs at 46-62, while the Reds are in the wild-card hunt at 57-53.

A winner either way: José Caballero traded from Rays to Yankees while teams were playing each other
NEW YORK (AP) — José Caballero turned an inning-ending double play for the Tampa Bay Rays in the fifth inning, then batted in the sixth. By the bottom of the seventh, he was on the other team. In a strange development even for trade-deadline day around Major League Baseball, the Rays shipped Caballero to the New York Yankees — while the teams were still playing each other Thursday afternoon. Caballero was removed from Tampa Bay's lineup during the seventh-inning stretch, and the deal was announced after the Yankees nailed down a 7-4 victory in a game interrupted by rain for nearly three hours in the fifth. 'I just saw Caballero in the clubhouse, so that was a little odd,' New York manager Aaron Boone said afterward. 'I saw him actually hugging people in the eighth.' After learning he'd been traded, Caballero exchanged hugs in the Tampa Bay dugout at Yankee Stadium with his Rays teammates and manager Kevin Cash. Both clubs were active right up until the 6 p.m. deadline, and Tampa Bay sent the speedy Caballero to the AL East-rival Yankees for Triple-A outfielder Everson Pereira and a player to be named or cash. Pereira played 27 major league games for New York in 2023. The 28-year-old Caballero has 34 stolen bases this season, tied for most in the majors. He's batting .226 with two homers and 27 RBIs in 86 games and has started at shortstop, second base, third base and all three outfield positions. Caballero didn't start Thursday for the Rays but entered in the bottom of the fifth when All-Star first baseman Jonathan Aranda got injured. Caballero came in to play second base, and Brandon Lowe shifted from second base to first. Caballero stayed in the game following a rain delay that lasted 2 hours, 45 minutes. But when Tampa Bay took the field for the bottom of the seventh, he came out. Lowe moved back to second base and Matt Thaiss entered at first. 'It's definitely weird, but you've seen it on TV multiple times of people saying goodbye in the middle of the game in these situations,' Lowe said. 'It was a little weird to see it happen, but you just kind of put all the pieces together and figure it out for ourselves.' After the game, Caballero conducted his postgame interview as a member of the Yankees in their clubhouse — after clearing out his Rays locker on the other side of the stadium. 'I was winning today regardless,' Caballero said. 'We won the game, I guess. That's what I feel right now.' Tampa Bay made two other trades Thursday, acquiring starting pitcher Adrian Houser from the Chicago White Sox and reliever Griffin Jax from Minnesota. The team obtained catcher Nick Fortes from Miami early Tuesday, after sending veteran catcher Danny Jansen to Milwaukee the previous night. Zack Littell pitched five scoreless innings Wednesday night for the Rays at Yankee Stadium, then immediately was traded to the Cincinnati Reds. 'It's been a unique week,' Cash said. Caballero was acquired by Tampa Bay from Seattle in January 2024. As a rookie with the Mariners in June 2023, he annoyed Yankees ace Gerrit Cole so much the right-hander — sidelined this season with an injury — threw a 97 mph fastball to him that landed high up on the backstop. Cole's pitch was in response to Caballero stepping out repeatedly during his first two plate appearances until the pitch clock was down to the 8-second requirement to be in the batter's box and alert. 'I talked to him for a second,' Boone said. "I said, `We've had some battles but I like your game.' Golfers say goodbye to U of M's Les Bolstad Golf Course
For over 100 years, golfers have gathered at the University of Minnesota's Les Bolstad course. "I love this golf course and the university environment," said Tim Anderson before he played in a Thursday match. "We just got such a great club here and it's been so much fun over the years." "Probably the best memories is the comradery here and the friends I've met over the years," said David Okita, a former club president at Les Bolstad. "Ranging from the students that work here to the senior guys who've been playing here probably since before I was born." But now, those times are ending. The university announced that this season will be the last. They're selling the land. "We found out the day of the announcement," said assistant director of golf Adam Tilsner. "We had no prior notice before the University decided to sell the golf course." Anderson has been playing at Les Bolstad for 51 years. "Kinda sad. I feel sad not only for the golfers here but for the crew," said Anderson. The course employs 60 students, from checking golfers in to mowing fairways. "We've had employees that have worked here starting as a freshman in undergrad and worked through grad school," said Tilsner. "I've had some employees that have worked here for eight years and they still come back and say that this is the best job that they've ever had. They really rely on this job to pay for their tuition." The U of M said in a statement: "We recognize this course holds generations of memories for our community. This decision reflects careful consideration and was made in light of today's challenging financial environment." Okita learned to play golf at Les Bolstad in his freshman year at the University of Minnesota and has been playing there ever since. "I wish that they would reconsider," he said. "I wish that they would give it some more time. The golf course has been generating revenue for the last several years." An historic place and a daily reprieve. On this day, members of the Gopher football team arrive for their tee time, trading pads for putters. "It hasn't quite sunk in yet that this will be the last season because you know in golf we try to take it one shot at a time and one day at a time," said Okita. "So just try to have fun while we can and we never know." Les Bolstad will close in the fall as it has for decades. This time, it will not reopen. "Yeah. I don't know," said Anderson. "I haven't digested it real well yet."
