Bueckers has impressed early in her rookie campaign, showcasing the skills that made her one of the most highly anticipated prospects in years. However, her strong start was briefly interrupted after she entered concussion protocol, forcing her to miss the Wings' last four games.
On Wednesday night, Bueckers made her much-anticipated return as the 1–9 Wings faced the Phoenix Mercury — and she didn't miss a beat. She came out firing, knocking down her first six shots from the field and finishing the first half with 22 points, five rebounds, two assists, one steal, and one block.
Her first-half performance wasn't just impactful — it was historic. According to "Polymarket Hoops," Bueckers became the fourth-fastest rookie in WNBA history to record at least 100 points, 25 rebounds, and 25 assists. The only players to achieve the milestone faster were Caitlin Clark, Candace Parker, and Cynthia Cooper.
Entering Wednesday night, through six regular season games, Bueckers was averaging an impressive 14.7 points, 6.7 assists, 4.7 rebounds, and 2.0 steals per game. She's also been efficient, shooting 43.7% from the field, 33.3% from 3-point range, and 80.8% from the free-throw line.

Despite her strong individual performance, the Wings have struggled collectively. Their 1–9 record is currently the worst in the league. However, there's room for optimism — three of their next four opponents after Wednesday's matchup against the Mercury have sub-.500 records, giving Dallas a real opportunity to start turning things around.

Sophie Cunningham fires back at WNBA after getting fined for mocking refs on TikTok

Sophie Cunningham isn't taking her fine quietly. The Fever star hit out at the WNBA after she was fined $500 for a TikTok she posted last week, where she seemingly took a shot at referees, with a post on X on Wednesday. 'I got fined $500 for this TikTok,' Cunningham wrote on X, along with two crying laugh emojis while sharing the video. 'idk why this is funny to me… like ok you got it bud! Cause there's not more important things to be worried about with our league right now.' Advertisement In the video, Cunningham lip-synched the words to Sabrina Carpenter's song 'Manchild' and had the words written the words '@ some refs.' 'Stupid. Or is it slow? Maybe, it's useless,' Carpenter sings in the portion of the song that Cunningham used in her post. Over the weekend, Cunningham had a fiery response to a reporter's question about the number of games in the WNBA season. 'You can just tell [commissioner] Cathy [Engelbert] to pay us, and then we can have a discussion,' Cunningham said at Sunday's Fever practice. The fourth and final major of the PGA Tour season is set to unfold this coming week at Royal Portrush Golf Club in the United Kingdom, beginning with the first round on Thursday. One familiar name making his return is Jordan Spieth, who was forced to withdraw during the first round of the Travelers Championship three weeks ago due to injury. Spieth, the winner of the 146th Open Championship in 2017, will be back in action at a venue where he's previously seen success. Ahead of this week's tournament, Spieth received some exciting personal news that could provide a boost of motivation. On Sunday morning, he and his wife Annie Verret announced the birth of their third child. Earlier in the week, Spieth had appeared on the Up & Adams Show with Kay Adams, where he shared that the couple was officially on "baby watch." Just days later, the family's newest addition has arrived. "We added a new member to the foursome - Sully Spieth! Everyone is doing great," Spieth posted on Instagram. Spieth noted that he is expected to arrive overseas later than usual for The Open, but should still have plenty of time to prepare for his return to the course following a bumpy 2025 campaign. Despite the struggles he's faced since his last Tour victory in 2022, Spieth continues to show flashes of the brilliance that made him a three-time major champion—he just hasn't been able to put it all together over the course of four rounds When it comes to The Open specifically, he's consistently performed well throughout his 11 appearances.
