Paige Bueckers Reaches Impressive Career Milestone in Return From Injury
When the Dallas Wings secured the No. 1 overall pick in the WNBA Draft Lottery, it was clear they had their sights set on one player — former UConn star and national champion Paige Bueckers.

Bueckers has impressed early in her rookie campaign, showcasing the skills that made her one of the most highly anticipated prospects in years. However, her strong start was briefly interrupted after she entered concussion protocol, forcing her to miss the Wings' last four games.
On Wednesday night, Bueckers made her much-anticipated return as the 1–9 Wings faced the Phoenix Mercury — and she didn't miss a beat. She came out firing, knocking down her first six shots from the field and finishing the first half with 22 points, five rebounds, two assists, one steal, and one block.
Her first-half performance wasn't just impactful — it was historic. According to "Polymarket Hoops," Bueckers became the fourth-fastest rookie in WNBA history to record at least 100 points, 25 rebounds, and 25 assists. The only players to achieve the milestone faster were Caitlin Clark, Candace Parker, and Cynthia Cooper.
Entering Wednesday night, through six regular season games, Bueckers was averaging an impressive 14.7 points, 6.7 assists, 4.7 rebounds, and 2.0 steals per game. She's also been efficient, shooting 43.7% from the field, 33.3% from 3-point range, and 80.8% from the free-throw line.

Despite her strong individual performance, the Wings have struggled collectively. Their 1–9 record is currently the worst in the league. However, there's room for optimism — three of their next four opponents after Wednesday's matchup against the Mercury have sub-.500 records, giving Dallas a real opportunity to start turning things around.

Phillies Predicted to Replace Brandon Marsh With Young Award Winnner Slater de Brun
Phillies Predicted to Replace Brandon Marsh With Young Award Winnner Slater de Brun originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Much of the talk surrounding the Philadelphia Phillies over the past few weeks has been centered around what they might do during the trade deadline. However, the Phillies also have some other important decisions to make, with the 2025 MLB draft next week. Given that the draft will allow the Phillies an opportunity to improve their roster, they should be heavily focusing on this, despite being a contending team right now. The Phillies' farm system is one of the best in Major League Baseball, but that doesn't mean it can't improve. With the No. 26 pick, the Phillies will have an excellent chance to take a player they love. That player likely won't make their debut for a very long time, but regardless, the Phillies should be able to find someone with enormous talent. When searching for who that might be, USA Today recently linked them to an intriguing name in the form of Slater de Brun, a high school player out of Oregon. 'The run of late-round high school players takes a few Philly targets off the board but they can still fulfill their prep preference with de Brun, a potential center fielder of the future whose speed will likely always trump his power,' they wrote. De Brun has been linked to multiple teams in the 20s over the past few months, so it remains uncertain if the Phillies will have an opportunity to draft him. There's reason to believe he could fall to No. 26, but he's also committed to Vanderbilt, and the further he drops, the better chance of him honoring his commitment to the Commodores. The Phillies would likely understand that before selecting him, but it's something they have to factor in story was originally reported by Athlon Sports on Jul 11, 2025, where it first appeared.

Brandin Podziemski Issues Clear Thoughts on Warriors' Future
Brandin Podziemski Issues Clear Thoughts on Warriors' Future originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Golden State Warriors made headlines in February when they pulled off the trade for Jimmy Butler, a move that had fans dreaming of another deep playoff run. But even with Jimmy Buckets in the mix, things didn't quite go as planned, and the Warriors bowed out in the conference semis to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Fast forward to now: the off-season's been pretty quiet, with no major new faces coming in. Still, Brandin Podziemski isn't losing sleep over it. In fact, he's feeling pretty good about where the Warriors stand in the Western Conference. In a recent clip shared on X, Podziemski spoke about what his team has to do in order to retain a top-four spot in the West. 'Really looking forward to what we can do," Podziemski said during Golden State's Summer League game Friday night. "If we can get a similar record and similar start to when he (Butler) got here, we feel like we can be a top-four seed in the West. And it allows us to down the stretch be able to rest our older guys.' It's been a bit of a rollercoaster for the Warriors since they won their last championship in 2022. They've just struggled to build out a solid roster and a deep bench, mostly because they don't have a ton of room to spend with the salary cap. Sure, they've won a playoff series here and there, but they haven't really looked like legitimate title contenders for a while. That started to shift last season, though. They made the tough call to let Klay Thompson walk in free agency, which gave their younger guards more room to shine. And after a rocky start, they pulled off a big move, bringing in Butler, Steph Curry's best running mate since Kevin Durant. Suddenly, they looked a bit more dangerous in the West. Of course, the roster still isn't perfect. They don't need to blow it all up, just tweak a few things. And a lot of that comes down to what happens with Jonathan Kuminga's restricted free agency, which could be the swing factor in taking this team to the next story was originally reported by Athlon Sports on Jul 12, 2025, where it first appeared.
