FIH Hockey Women's Junior World Cup 2025: India placed in Pool C

Israel Castro, Director of the Chilean National Sports Institute attended the draw ceremony, as well as Alvaro Ipinza, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Sports, Miguel Angeles Mujica, President, Chilean Olympic Committee, Carolina Sanz, Vice President, Chilean Olympic Committee, Juan Pablo Casorzo, Development Manager, Government of Santiago along with Andres de Witt, President of the Chilean Field Hockey Federation and Tony von Ondarza, FIH Honorary member.
Chilean Field Hockey Federation President, Andres de Witt said: 'It is great that the first ever 24-team FIH Hockey Women's Junior World Cup, with teams coming from all over the world, will be played in Chile! It is also special for us that the draw ceremony for the event is being held locally in Chile for the first time, which is a great honour and responsibility for us.'
This mega event in our country celebrates the Pan American heritage and will be held in our home, the Claudia Schuler National Hockey Stadium, and it would not be possible without the support of the government of Chile and our President,The Gabriel Boric and Minister of Sport Jaime Pizarro among many others. I also want to thank FIH President Tayyab Ikram for the honour of being able to host this tournament in our home.'
FIH president Tayyab Ikram said: 'It's with great pleasure that FIH is going back to Chile for one of its most important events. Thank you to the leadership of Chile Hockey Federation, especially my dear friend Andres, under whose leadership we are making Chile a global hub of hockey. It will be a great occasion to welcome all the young stars from all over the world, who will be coming to enjoy the sporting moments, performing their best and also to enjoy the fantastic hospitality of Chile.'
'I am full of gratitude for the government and all the stakeholders and sponsors who are helping Chile hockey organise this mega event in Santiago. I am very happy that Santiago is not only becoming a global hub of hockey but also promoting and developing our beautiful sport at all levels. Thank you President Andres, thank you Chile Hockey executive board and thank you community of hockey in Chile,' Tayyab Ikram said as quoted by FIH release.
The pinnacle of the FIH junior women's tournaments will be held from December 1 to December 13 in the city of Santiago, Chile.
Netherlands are the current Junior Women's World Champions, having defeated Argentina in the final of the 2023 edition. (ANI)

The two teams being in the same group means they will clash at least twice in the tournament — once in the group stage and again in the Super 4s. A third face-off is also possible if both teams qualify for the final. Notably, the decision to play between India and Pakistan at the Asia Cup came shortly after a World Championship of Legends match between India Champions and Pakistan Champions was called off after some India players refused to participate in the contest. Former India cricketer Shikhar Dhawan had also posted a public statement on why he would not feature in the contest, stating, "Jo kadam 11 May ko liya, uspe aaj bhi waise hi khada hoon. Mera desh mere liye sab kuch hai, aur desh se badhkar kuch nahi hota. (I stand by the decision I took on May 11. My country is everything for me and nothing is bigger than the country)" Meanwhile, ACC Chairman and Pakistan Cricket Board President Mohsin Naqvi announced the dates for the multilateral tournament earlier in the month in a post on X. Former India captain Sourav Ganguly on Sunday said he has no issues with India being placed in the same group as Pakistan in the upcoming Asia Cup, asserting that while terrorism must end, sport must continue. As per the schedule, arch-rivals India and Pakistan are clubbed in Group A and are set to face off at the Dubai International Stadium on September 14. "I'm okay with the schedule. England thrived in the high drama yet again to take down Spain in a penalty shootout and win another Women's European Championship title on Sunday. England beat Spain 3-1 on penalties to win the Women's Euro 2025(AP) Chloe Kelly lashed in her spot kick to give defending champion England a 3-1 win in the shootout after a 1-1 draw after extra time. England goalkeeper Hannah Hampton saved spot kicks from Mariona Caldentey and Spain superstar Aitana Bonmati, before substitute Salma Paralluelo dragged her shot wide of goal. The defending champion won the only way it knew how at this thrilling Euro 2025. England fell behind in the first half, fought back in the second and relied on its superb substitutes – just as it did against Italy and Sweden previously in the knockout rounds. England leveled the score in the 57th on Alessia Russo's header from a cross by Kelly after Mariona Caldentey had given Spain the lead in the 25th finishing Ona Battle's cross. Spain trailed for only four minutes in the entire tournament — and not for one second against England — yet could not seal its first European title. Kelly had scored an extra-time winning goal for England at Wembley three years ago to beat Germany 2-1.
