Senior pastor finalist selected for Bellevue Baptist Church
Mandrell is currently the president and CEO of Lifeway Christian Resources, based in Brentwood, Tenn.
According to a video posted on Bellevue's YouTube channel, Mandrell will speak to the congregation during a special service on Sunday, July 13th at 10 a.m.
After the service, the entire congregation will vote on whether to accept the committee's recommendation of Mandrell as the new senior pastor at Bellevue.
If selected, Mandrell will replace Dr. Steve Gaines, who is retiring after serving 20 years as Bellevue's senior pastor.
Dr. Gaines announced his retirement back in September 2024, several months after being diagnosed with cancer. At the time, Gaines said his retirement was not connected to the diagnosis.

Maryland takes a step toward environmental justice with new executive order
Governor Moore signed an executive order on Friday designed to advance environmental justice and protect communities burdened by pollution in Maryland. The Valuing Opportunity, Inclusion, and Community Equity order serves to foster a whole-of-government approach working with communities that historically have borne the burden of environmental pollution, according to the governor's office. According to Moore, the executive order establishes the following: "Every Marylander deserves access to clean air, clean water, and resilient communities. That's what environmental justice is all about," said Gov. Moore. "The order marks the next chapter in our work to cut exposure to pollution, improve access to clean public transit, reduce urban heat islands, and uplift neighborhoods that have been left behind. And for our entire state, this action marks a step toward a more competitive economy and healthier communities for all." The order also mandates state agencies to use the Maryland Department of the Environment's MDEnviroScreen mapping tool. According to Moore's release, the tool provides detailed demographic information through interactive maps and tracks disparities related to environmental hazards, exposures, risks, and health outcomes, generating a score that combines pollution levels with population vulnerability. Ultimately, it will help policymakers understand environmental burdens and find specific areas to help with support and resources.

Buffalo Bills legend Jim Kelly is asking NFL fans to keep his family in their thoughts this weekend. Kelly had an incredible run with the Bills, earning Pro Bowl honors five times and making the Super Bowl four times. Unfortunately, he has dealt with a ton of obstacles over the years. In 2023, he was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma in his jaw. He then contracted MRSA within his bones. Thankfully, Kelly has been cancer free for a few years now. The bad news, however, is that daughter Erin's newborn child was born with unexpected medical complications. "Our continued prayer is that Little Bean's body will begin to heal and adjust to all that took place this morning… that his body will strengthen… and that, in time, he'll be able to come off the ventilator and be able to go home. We are trusting God for strength, for restoration, and for many little miracles in the days ahead. Please also cover Parker and Erin in prayer. They are physically and emotionally exhausted — yet holding onto gratitude, hope, and deep faith in the One who holds their precious baby boy," Kelly said. Over the weekend, Kelly asked NFL fans to pray for his grandson. "Please continue to pray for our Little Bean. While we are so grateful that his procedure went well, the road ahead is still long and filled with many intricate, delicate steps in his healing journey," Kelly wrote on Instagram. "There's so much happening beneath the surface — things only God can fully see and understand. We are praying specifically that Little Bean's body will begin to heal and adjust to everything that took place…That his lungs and heart and all of his other vital organs will grow stronger…That he'll be able to come off the ventilator and breathe on his every organ, every function, every breath will align and respond to the intervention and critical care he's receiving. "This journey is very complex - and we're trusting the One who knit him together to continue holding every detail in His also lift up Erin and Parker.
