Social Circle's Stuart hits league's first double ton
Ribblesdale won at Oswaldtwistle Immanuel on Saturday and beat Baxenden at home on Sunday, sitting on 107 points with eight wins from 12 games.

That they are now 17 points clear of second-placed Whalley is largely thanks to Dhanushka.
On Sunday, they bowled Baxenden out for 94, with Dhanushka's off-spin accounting for 8-43 from 15 overs - the summer's best bowling return by anyone in the top two divisions of the NWCL.
He then top-scored with 50 in a successful reply, achieved for the loss of four wickets.
On Saturday, he claimed 5-2 from 3.4 overs against Oswaldtwistle, including three wickets in four balls, to bowl the hosts out for 93. Again, in response, he top-scored with 39 and fashioned a recovery from 16-3 to seal a four-wicket triumph.

Premiership leaders Read recovered from last week's first defeat to win a nervy clash at bottom-side Lostock by two wickets.
The summer's 10th round brought Read their ninth win, surviving a regular loss of wickets in a pursuit of 153. Opener and captain Will Wrathall top-scored with 30.
Lostock had been limited to 152-9 in 45 overs. Chris Holt starred for Read with 6-31 from 13 overs. He then contributed 18 to the chase, sharing 46 for the first wicket with Wrathall.
Read, who claimed 10 points, are sat on 102 from 10 games, 12 clear of second-placed Farnworth Social Circle (90).
Social Circle's Bajan professional Jameel Stuart amassed a sensational unbeaten 202 from 126 balls with 18 sixes in 352-5 at home to shellshocked Padiham, leading a recovery from 41-4.

Stuart's assault from number four saw 152 runs scored in fours and sixes and represented the first first-team double century in the three-year history of the NWCL, with Padiham later 229 all out.
Dave Mather returned five wickets and Stuart 4-20 from 5.4 overs to help FSC claim the full 12 points with a 123-run success.
The Championship's bottom side, Walkden, were on the right side of the London Bus Syndrome - you wait ages for one and then two come along at once.
Having lost their first eight matches of the season, they have won their last two. They jumped off the bottom courtesy of an impressive win at promotion-chasing Cherry Tree, by two wickets chasing 194.

Indian overseas amateur Haider Saqlain was their hero with 6-52 from 14 overs in Cherry Tree's 193-9 and a top-score of 44 from number three in reply. However, a 63-run partnership, from 115-6, between Mirza Suhail and Salman Younis proved key for Walkden.
Cherry Tree dropped out of the top two promotion places in the second tier, replaced by Whalley, who claimed an eye-catching come-from-behind win at Earby having been bowled out for 90.
Their seventh win in 10 was achieved by 35 runs in a contest which saw only one batter make it beyond 20.
Whalley pro Levi Wolfenden starred with 7-36 from 12 overs as Earby were bowled out for 55, including Matthew Nutter's 24 not out.

Wolfenden had top-scored in Whalley's 90 with 15 though was one of five wickets for South African OA Jared Bone. Unfortunately for Bone and Earby, it meant little.
Whalley may be 17 points adrift of Ribblesdale but have two games in hand.
Back in the Premiership, Little Lever claimed a sixth league win of 2025, by eight wickets at home against Farnworth as they impressively reeled in a target of 216 and now sit third on 79 points.
Adil Nisar claimed three wickets in Farnworth's 215-8 before opener Cameron Murray and Pakistani professional Mohammad Junaid were in aggressive mood in sharing an unbroken third-wicket partnership of 147 to seal a home win. The pair hit five sixes each, Murray 88 off 67 balls and Junaid 79 off 47.

Champions Blackrod (75 points) secured their sixth win, by 18 runs at Eagley, who were bowled out for 161 in reply to 179-5.
Thushendra De Zoysa top-scored for Blackrod with 59 before Bajan OA Renaldo Holder took the new ball and struck five times.
Kearsley also won for the sixth time, this one by 55 runs at home to Salesbury, who were bowled out for 100 in reply to the home side's 155 all out.
Indian pro Ajay Rohera opened and top-scored with 47 before new-ball duo Irfan Kareem and Mustafa Bashir shared nine wickets to leave Salesbury well short. Kareem claimed five of those.
In mid-table, Padiham are fifth, Kearsley sixth - both on 70 points - and Tonge seventh, just a point behind.

Tonge's fifth win was achieved by nine wickets at home to Atherton, successfully replying to the visitors' 127 all out thanks to an unbeaten 71 from South African OA Justin Gilliland. He shared a first-wicket 127 with Alex Rodzoch (49).
Earlier, Tonge captain Connor Lord and Hasib Patel struck four times apiece with the ball.
Barnoldswick are into the top four in the Championship thanks to their sixth win in nine, by four wickets chasing 149 at Brinscall.
Wasique Ali stood out with five wickets in bowling Brinscall out for 148 before Australian pro Trent Riddell top-scored with 44 in a reply only briefly threatened at 5-1.

Baxenden have a won five, lost six record from their 11 games. They beat Astley Bridge at home by five wickets on Saturday in a strong reply to 207 all out.
Matthew Austin took the new ball and returned four wickets for Baxenden, who were then indebted to Harris Masood's measured 60no from number four in reply. Pro Ben Gorton had also opened with 48.

Alcaraz faces amateur hour against young Brit at Wimbledon
Unheralded British amateur Oliver Tarvet is targeting arguably the biggest upset in Wimbledon history when he pits his wits against champion Carlos Alcaraz on Wednesday. Emma Raducanu is hoping to make home advantage count against 2023 winner Marketa Vondrousova, while Brazilian sensation Joao Fonseca is aiming to copy Roger Federer's grace on the grass. Advertisement AFP Sport looks at the matches to watch on day three of the tournament at the All England Club. Tarvet's tab World number 733 Oliver Tarvet has an unusual issue after his run through qualifying to reach round two and the sport's most hallowed turf. As a student of the University of San Diego he has to maintain amateur status to remain in the US collegiate tennis system. Despite earning £99,000 ($136,000) in prize money so far, he can only bank $10,000 profit during the calendar year after subtracting his expenses. The 21-year-old is already planning a more luxurious return trip to California but is also dreaming of ending Alcaraz's bid for a third straight title. Advertisement "I've got to find £60,000, £70,000 of expenses. Tennis is an expensive sport. So, hopefully, I can make that happen. Just pay my coaches a little bit extra. I don't know. We'll figure something out. Fly business class!" Tarvet said. The British player, playing his first Grand Slam, is not short of self-belief and will hope Alcaraz is jaded after his gruelling five-set opener. "I'm quietly confident that I can win against anyone," he said. "Alcaraz isn't an exception to that. Obviously, he's done an incredible amount in the tennis world. He's a difficult guy not to respect." Raducanu's big test Advertisement British number one Emma Raducanu played down her chances on the eve of the tournament, saying she "does not expect much" as she juggles inconsistent form with a niggling back problem. Last year's run to the fourth round at Wimbledon was the 22-year-old's best performance at a Grand Slam since she shot to fame by winning the US Open in 2021. Currently 40th in the world, Raducanu has hit her highest ranking this year (36th) since September 2022. Marketa Vondrousova may be 33 places further down the rankings, but the Czech is a grass-court specialist who is finding her feet again after a persistent shoulder injury. Advertisement The 26-year-old won her first title since winning Wimbledon just over a week ago at the Berlin Open and is a potential contender for the tournament now she is pain-free. "When you are playing with pain, it's crazy. You just think about it all the time. It's there all the time," said Vondrousova. "It's just the one thing you have on your mind all the time. Now I can focus on everything else, so it's great." Teenage dreamer Fonseca mirrors Federer Joao Fonseca said his Wimbledon debut felt like a "dream" as he swatted aside Jacob Fearnley in straight sets, thrashing 31 winners in the process. Advertisement The prodigiously talented Brazilian is one of the rising stars of the ATP Tour and has been studying Wimbledon's retired Swiss master Roger Federer for inspiration on how to adapt to the grass, a surface on which he has little experience. "It's inspiring because you can see him in a big match, in a final against (Novak) Djokovic, and he just makes it so smooth, so easy," Fonseca said, referring to watching video clips of Federer. "His style, his slice, coming to net, chip and charge. It was complete. That's what I want." Fonseca next faces Eastbourne finalist Jacob Brooksby and his draw does not hold many terrors after eighth-seed Holger Rune's early exit. kca/jw

Where to watch England vs. India free live stream, TV channel, start time for 2nd Test match
England will look to extend their lead and go 2-0 up in the five-match series when they play India in the highly anticipated second Test match at Edgbaston on Wednesday. In the first Test match, where batters dominated most of the play, England scripted history, chasing down their second-highest total (371) in Test cricket. Ollie Pope (106 and 8) and Ben Duckett (62 and 149) were the star performers from the English side. Duckett continued his Bazball style of cricket and scored his 14th half-century and 6th century of his Test career in the same match. Advertisement This was not the first time England chased down a mammoth total against India; they pulled off a miraculous win at Edgbaston in 2022 by chasing down a 378-run total and etching their name in the history of Test cricket after chasing down their first highest-ever total in the fourth innings. They are set to play at the same venue in the second test of the ongoing series. On the other hand, despite posting good scores on the board across both innings, India lost the first Test in a humiliating fashion. Yashasvi Jaiswal (101), Shubman Gill (147), Rishabh Pant (134 and 118), and KL Rahul (137) scored their respective centuries in the match, but however, it was India's fielding that grabbed most of the attention. The poor fielding efforts from the Indian fielders allowed the England batters to capitalize on the opportunity and dominated the last day of match. Taking a lesson from Headingley, Shubman Gill would be aiming for a comeback in the second Test. The Sporting News looks at the key details ahead of this game, including how to watch the match, kickoff times, and the latest lineup news. The 2nd Test match between England and India will be played at Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham, England, from Wednesday, July 2, to Sunday, July 6. Play is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. local time (BST) each day, which translates to 6:00 a.m. ET or 3:00 a.m. PT in the United States. England vs. India 2nd Test predicted XIs, team news After an incredible win at Headingley, England would be aiming to extend their lead in the ongoing series. With Jofra Archer back in the squad, the bowling unit got strengthened, adding a touch to their lethal pace. However, Archer missed the training camp on the weekend due to a family emergency and has been kept sidelined from the second Test match. Advertisement With Ben Stokes' return to his bowling form, his spells can provide much-needed stability and support for the other pacers in the bowling unit. Stokes took 5 wickets across both innings of the first match. With England's top order already in form, Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, and Ollie Pope would like to continue their job at the top. While Joe Root, Harry Brook and Jamie Smith will provide stability in the middle order. On the bowling front, Chris Woakes will continue to lead the pace attack with Josh Tongue and Brydon Carse. Shoaib Bashir, who wasn't very impressive during the last match outing, would look to help his team by clinching some big fish this time. England predicted XI: Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Harry Brook, Ben Stokes (c), Jamie Smith (wk), Chris Woakes, Josh Tongue, Brydon Carse, Shoaib Bashir. Advertisement As for India, KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal have been doing a spectacular job as the opening duo, providing the much-needed initial momentum at the top. Sai Sudharsan debuted for India in the first match at the number three position but couldn't post something impressive in his debut match. Karun Nair returned to the Indian test cricket scene after an eight-year absence but was clueless against the English bowling attack. However, he is likely to retain his place considering his recent domestic form. The middle-order responsibility will again come down to Rishabh Pant after his twin-ton assault in the first match. Shardul Thakur remained underutilized in the first Test match in his bowling, but his poor batting would allow the management to go for Nitish Kumar Reddy or off-spin all-rounder Washington Sundar in the second. Reddy, who scored his first Test ton in Australia, is eagerly waiting for his turn in this series. Another headache for the Indian team would be the absence of Jasprit Bumrah from the Edgbaston Test; he will be rested due to his workload management. Arshdeep Singh is the most likely to be introduced with the new ball alongside Siraj; a new lethal-looking left-right bowling duo can wreak havoc only if synced well. India predicted XI: Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Sai Sudharsan, Karun Nair, Shubman Gill (c), Rishabh Pant, Ravindra Jadeja, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Prasidh Krishna, Arshdeep Singh, Mohammed Siraj.
