Raichur: A 40-year-old man died from burn injuries he sustained after falling into a fire pit during a Muharram event on Saturday night at Yaraganti village of Devdurg taluk in Raichur district.
The injured person, Hanumanth Police Patil, was immediately rushed to a hospital in Lingasugur, but could not be saved.
To commemorate the night of the Muharram, a fire was lit in front of the Hasan Hussain Alam Dargah in Alai Kuni (pit), with logs placed over the flames. According to Lingasugur police, the deceased, Hanumanth, was participating in the event when he accidentally fell into the fire pit. Despite the presence of his relatives and friends, immediate rescue from the intense flames was not feasible.
When he was finally extracted from the fire, over 90% of his body had sustained burns. Hanumanth was rushed to Lingasuguru Hospital for initial treatment before being transferred to RIMS Hospital in Raichur. However, he succumbed to his severe burn injuries on Saturday night.

He is a resident of Byrathi in Kothanur and originally hails from Manipur. According to the police, Hussain works as a delivery agent for a major food delivery Ashok Nagar Police, who were monitoring social media platforms, found the content on the Instagram account to be obscene and registered a suo motu case. Police said the videos, most of which were filmed from behind, showed women walking in public spaces including MG Road, Brigade Road, Church Street, Koramangala and Indiranagar. Sub-Inspector Nabi Saab of Ashok Nagar Police Station filed the FIR notes that Hussain uploaded these videos to attract followers. He has been booked under Section 67 of the Information Technology Act, which pertains to the publication or transmission of obscene material in electronic said Hussain admitted to filming and uploading over 14 such videos in the past three months. Authorities have initiated a request with Instagram to take down the account. The incident comes only a few days after Bengaluru Police arrested a 26-year-old man for posting videos of women without their consent. One of the women found her video, taken without her consent, and reported it. She also requested its removal; however, she didn't get any response. She reportedly also received vulgar messages on her Instagram account after the video went viral. Bengaluru: A 19-year-old youth with an Instagram account named 'Dilbar Jaani-67' was arrested for filming women in various locations and uploading the videos to his account with the tagline 'Bangalore Night Life'. The police, who were monitoring social media platforms, found the account and registered a suo-motu case as the videos were obscene in nature. Recently, a man from Punjab was arrested for a similar offence. According to the complaint filed by Ashok Nagar police sub-inspector Nabi Saab, the accused is identified as Dilavar Hussain MD, a resident of Byrathi in Kothanur. Hussain is a native of Manipur and is working as a delivery boy for a major online food delivery firm. He used to record videos of girls and women walking on streets such as MG Road, Church Street, Brigade Road, Koramangala, Indiranagar, and other areas. Many videos he filmed showed women from their back and the police considered them obscene. The PSI in his complaint stated Hussain uploaded the videos to his Instagram profile to gain more followers. A case has been registered under the Information Technology Act section 67 (Punishment for publishing or transmitting obscene material in electronic form). During interrogation, Hussain told police that he was filming women for the last three months and uploaded over 14 videos to his account. The police are going to write to Instagram to delete the account. Hussain is yet to be produced before the court.
