Jamie Laing and shares truth behind Meghan Markle twerk at Buckingham Place

Daily Mirror07-07-2025
Jamie Laing and Sophie Habboo have confessed to breaking Palace rules with a cheeky Meghan-inspired twerk and left King Charles laughing with an awkward etiquette blunder.
Jamie Laing and Sophie Habboo admit a mangling of royal etiquette overshadowed their meeting with King Charles after he was pictured chuckling at them during a private reception.
The former Made In Chelsea stars were received by his Majesty at Buckingham Palace in June, shortly before attending the annual King's Trust Awards the following day. And they admit an initial faux-pas from Sophie, 30, prompted a subsequent photo in which King Charles appears to laugh at the couple while greeting a procession of guests at the special event.

The married couple filmed themselves recreating Harry and Meghan's famous 'Baby Mama' twerk in the heart of the royal residence but the playful video came as a breach of Palace rules as guests were asked not to use their cameras inside Buckingham Palace during the star-studded King's Trust event.

Which sparked a social media storm by appearing to poke fun at Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's notorious pregnancy twerk video during their trip to the Palace.
They raised eyebrows by cheekily filmed themselves on the Grand Staircase at the Palace, which has been traversed by Kings and Queens, Princes and Princesses.
Seemingly channeling the Royal couple, Jamie wrote: 'They said we couldn't film in Buckingham Palace.'
While the moment was a breach in protocol and could have sparked a royal meltdown, palace aides fortunately found the funny side. On its official Instagram account 'theroyalfamily' replied to the post, adding: 'We see you' accompanied by a pair of eyes and a wink emojis. The King's Trust entered the conversation in the spirit of the occasion with the quip: 'All of our attendees are very well behaved.'

Discussing her gaffe on the latest episode of their Nearly Parents podcast, an amused Jamie, 36, recalled how his pregnant wife had overlooked Royal etiquette by repeatedly shooting her hand out in an unsuccessful attempt to greet the Monarch.
'When you meet the King, you slightly bow your head, or you curtsy, then you hold your hand out and call him Sir afterwards,' he explained. 'Do not raise your hand and shake his hand until he's raised his hand towards you.
'He kept looking towards Sophie, and as soon as he went towards Sophie, Sophie put her hand up, like this... and then he turned away and she put it back down again'

'And she did this about three or four times, and then what happened was he looked at her again, because he's just being polite. You're meant to wait until he puts his hand up!'
Admitting she was mortified by the incident, which was filmed by a Netflix production team, Sophie said: 'I thought I was missing my opportunity and I didn't listen to that, because they were talking and it's just noise in my ear.

'So I thought "he's looking at me, is this my moment, I'm meant to shake and curtsy?" And I was buckling.'
Cracking up, Jamie revealed how Sophie resorted to robotically holding her hand out in anticipation of the King as he worked his way down a line that included beauty mogul Charlotte Tilbury, Hollywood star George Clooney and his wife Amal.
'And then what happened was, the last time, he turned towards Sophie, Sophie put out her hand. She didn't withdraw, she just held it there,' he said.
'She just held it there and didn't move it until he came and shook her hand. Just holding it like that!'

Emily Blackwell has opened up about her post-partum weight loss after struggling with 'anxiety and stress' following the traumatic premature birth of her daughter. The Made In Chelsea star, 28, and her fiancé Jordan Oldershaw welcomed their daughter Eva June prematurely in November 2024. And now the TV personality has taken to her Instagram Stories to answer some of her fans questions about her pregnancy. When asked about how her weight loss, Emily explained that she 'didn't get much of a third trimester' and her anxiety and stress caused her to burn a lot of calories. Speaking about weaning onto solid foods from breastfeeding, Emily said that is has been quite easy going as her newborn is a 'foodie like her mum and dad'. Emily also revealed she has suffered from 'mum guilt' when she tries to do small things for herself but is hoping that it is a 'first time mum thing'. The new mum also revealed a list of names they had in mind before they settled on Eva as they explained they also liked the names River and Nova. To conclude her Q&A with her followers, she revealed Eva has been 'living her best life' as she dubbed her a 'little fighter'. Emily previously announced she was pregnant in September just three weeks after she announced her and Jordan's engagement. Emily wrote in the lengthy caption: 'Hello world Eva June Oldershaw born 03.11.2024. After 53 days in the NICU our little miracle is finally home. Eva was born over 10 weeks early'. 'To say the last few months have been the hardest times of our lives, would be an understatement.' She continued: 'Not being able to take our baby home for 2 months, feeling totally out of control, sitting for hours staring at monitors, listening to the bleeping and alarms going off, not knowing what each day will bring.' And now the TV personality has taken to her Instagram Stories to answer some of her fans questions about her pregnancy, including whether she co-sleeps with baby Eva Emily also revealed she has suffered from 'mum guilt' when she tries to do small things for herself but is hoping that it is a 'first time mum thing' To conclude her Q&A with her followers, she revealed Eva has been 'living her best life' as she dubbed her a 'little fighter' Last week she shared a montage of the little one's time in hospital from being hooked up to equipment to finally being well enough to go home 'Staring at Eva through an incubator with wires everywhere and feeling totally helpless, asking the nurses to help us hold our baby. This is not how I imagined it…However, Eva is one tough cookie and I'm so incredibly grateful she's now here with us at home and healthy'. Emily went on: 'I can't thank the NHS enough and in particular, the Chelsea Westminster Hospital. The midwives, doctors and nurses are ABSOLUTE angels, who we will forever be indebted to'. She is one strong little lady'. 'Now it's time to adjust and enjoy life as a family of 3 and soak up every single moment in our newborn bubble'. Before adding: 'Jordan, you have been mine and Eva's rock through all of this. There's no way could we have done this without you. Juggling all this whilst running a business is no joke and everyday I'm so proud of you. (A bit soppy, I know) butttt watching the way you have been with our daughter has made me love you even more'. Fans and famous friends rushed to share their congratulations, with fellow MIC star Lucy Watson writing: 'Oh my gosh. She is a little fighter. So pleased you get to bring your girl home. congratulations to you both xxx'

‘Mamma Mia!' fans can enjoy a Mediterranean pre-theater dinner this summer

'Mamma Mia!' fans are eagerly awaiting its return to Broadway. When it arrives, they'll have the option of visiting a nearby restaurant for a Mediterranean pre-theater dinner. Coming back to thrill audiences this summer for a limited engagement, the popular play takes place on a made-up Greek island and centers on a woman named Sophie. It's the day before her wedding, and she has aspirations to have her father walk her down the aisle. There's a twist, though. She doesn't know who her dad is. Hilarity, heartfelt moments, and musical numbers ensue. First appearing on Broadway in 2001, this play has mesmerized and entertained countless people for more than two decades. It's returning (beginning with previews on August 2) with an opening night of August 14 at the Winter Garden Theatre. It will run until February 1, 2026. If you have tickets, instead of simply strolling into the theatre with a rumbly, empty stomach, you can stop by IRIS, Chef John Fraser's Greek concept in Midtown, for a curated, themed, pre-theater dinner. Located within a five-minute walk of the Winter Garden Theatre, IRIS will be offering a three-course pre-theater 'Mamma Mia!'-themed menu for $60 per person. Starters include a Greek wedge salad with baby iceberg lettuce, chickpeas, and a feta-dill dressing, spiced lamb flatbread with chili, sumac, and cilantro, or grilled octopus with antep chili-tomato spice, kumquat spoon sweet. Entrees include wild mushroom pastitsio, grilled branzino, or saffron-yogurt roasted chicken. Desserts designed to be shared with the whole table include pistachio baklava and Aegean sweets. This theater-themed menu features more than mouthwatering food. It also features a trio of tiny 'Mamma Mia'-themed martinis priced at $28 for all three, or $10 each. These include Donna's Martini, made with Perry's Tot Gin, Roots Mastic Vintage Strength, and olive bitters; Sophie's Martini, a Pistachio Lemon Drop; and Rosie and Tanya's Martini, a take on a strawberry rhubarb daiquiri. So, if you're planning to attend "Mamma Mia!" on Broadway this summer, make a reservation at IRIS for an epic Greek feast that will prepare you for the music and wonder to come. You'll be glad you did and so will your stomach.
