Emmerdale's Sarah Sugden star wants two major ITV soap legends to return

Emmerdale's Sarah Sugden star wants two major ITV soap legends to return

Metro14 hours ago

Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill) is facing a difficult time in Emmerdale following a cervical cancer diagnosis.
Already living with a condition called Fanconi anaemia, which could mean she'll have a shorter than average lifespan, Sarah has made the decision to have IVF so she can become a mother.
She previously thought she was pregnant, but while his turned out to be a false alarm it left her realising that she desperately wants to be a mum before it's too late. She decided to look into having IVF, and it was at an appointment about the IVF that a possible problem was spotted.
'She's trying to stay positive, she thinks everything is going to work out. She's obviously dealt with cancer growing up, she's been through so much she's quite good at handling stuff like that as much as it hurts to hear.
'She takes the route of 'I'm going to focus on having this baby and the IVF,' so that's where she's at with her mental state. She just wants to have this baby and get the cancer out the way.'
Tragically, earlier this week, she was told she can no longer carry a child.
As Sarah prepared herself for the operation, Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) arrived, ready to support her. The two characters ended up having a really moving conversation about their connection. Sarah called Charity strong, and said she's been a better mum to her than her actual mother Debbie, who now lives in Australia.
The conversation quickly changed when the IVF was brought up. Sarah spotted the look on Charity's face, and realised that she still didn't think her plan was a good idea.
The argument was not resolved, unfortunately, as Sarah was wheeled away to theatre in the middle of their clash. While she waited, Charity became consumed with guilt over the row, and Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) of all people did his best to make her feel better.
Moments later, Sarah's surgeon arrived to reveal some news.
As Sarah woke up, Charity and Cain stood beside the bed as she was told a complication occurred during surgery.
As a result of this and Sarah's Fanconi Anemia, she had to have a hysterectomy – and Sarah knew exactly what that meant. As a result of this and Sarah's Fanconi Anemia, she had to have a hysterectomy – and Sarah knew exactly what that meant.
Having been at Emmerdale for eight years, Katie has reflected about her time growing up on the show.
'It's funny because when I came into the show, I was the kid on set,' she told us.
'I wouldn't get involved in all the adult conversations and now Emma [Atkins] is my best friend. She's a 50-year-old woman and is one of my bestest friends.
'I know we all say it's like a family, but it really is. If I ever need help with anything I've got someone to turn to. It's been nice. The Dingle WhatsApp group chat, that's always going off. It's called 12 Angry Dingles after that storyline with Lydia (Karen Blick). We're a really tight bunch and I adore them all.'

There are two Emmerdale legends that Katie would love to see back in the Dales, however, and that's Charley Webb and Kelvin Fletcher, who played Sarah's parents Debbie Dingle and Andy Sugden. Charley left the show in 2021. More Trending
'Funnily enough I never met Kelvin Fletcher,' Katie told us, as Kelvin was last seen in the show in 2016.
'Obviously it would be great if he came back and we got a chance to explore their relationship. And obviously Charley, she was my person here for so many years. She really took me under her wing when I joined the show so it would be so nice to work with them both. I'd like that.'

Coronation Street star addresses what happened to Gary and attack culprit

To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Coronation Street star Samia Longchambon has revealed all on Maria Connor's reaction to finding out the truth about Gary Windass' (Mikey North) disappearance. Gary disappeared without a trace following a row with Maria, who wasn't pleased about his growing connection with relatively new neighbour Lou Michaelis (Farrell Hegarty). When he didn't return home, Maria reckoned that it was simply due to their falling out. 'She's really upset that he's gone but it's not until he's been gone too long that she realises something is really wrong and is even more worried,' admitted series star Samia. 'Her emotions turn from being upset about the fact that they've fallen out to being worried about his safety.' Samia credits Gary missing Liam's (Charlie Wrenshall) birthday as the catalyst in her on-screen alter-ego realising that something is afoot. 'She was obviously worried before where he was because he had been gone a long time and was ignoring her messages and phone calls and thought they would have sorted it out long before that,' said the actress, 'but as soon as he misses Liam's birthday she absolutely has a gut feeling that something isn't right and thinks something awful might have happened to him.' Gary, as audiences know, was seen in the hospital in recent scenes. He's in a coma and fighting for his life. Want to be the first to hear shocking EastEnders spoilers? In upcoming scenes, we'll see Maria reporting Gary as a missing person to Kit Green (Jacob Roberts), who then learns about an unidentified patient. He's sure that it isn't Gary, but it becomes clear that his attacker is going to extreme lengths to conceal their crime and cover their tracks. They're even pretending to be his next of kin. Samia added: 'It's bittersweet for Maria [when she learns Gary isn't the coma patient] because she's of course glad Gary isn't in a coma, although little does she know he actually is, but at the same time she's worried even more now because her fear is he could be in a worse condition or even dead.' More Trending The actress said that, when Maria does find out that Gary is the coma patient, her mind is 'spiralling'. 'But she doesn't stop for a second to think who actually attacked him and put him in a coma, she's aware Gary has got a lot of enemies from over the years who could have potentially wanted to take revenge on him.' Now Harry has severed ties too with Ms Mondejar Steiner. She backed his annual WellChild charity awards in London and was pictured with him in September on her Mondejar Gallery Instagram page. It read: 'Honoured to support such an important cause and witness the incredible work being done for seriously ill children.' There is no suggestion of attempts to sell access to Prince Harry. The Mondejar Foundation was approached for comment. Prince William has marked two years of his Homewards project for rough sleepers by writing to six coalitions across the UK, thanking them for setting up 300 homes. Charitable Wills last week turned his attention to climate change, declaring saving the planet is a 'team game'. He told a Climate Week gathering his Earthshot prize is aimed at preserving 'all the things we as human beings care about'. Every year this decade the Prince of Wales awards £1million to each of five winners working to save the planet. Prince William was seething at Harry for years but now he has far more serious things to deal with He explained: 'Everything we want to do here starts with a team game. 'And the prize is just the pinnacle of the ability to showcase all the brilliant people around working in this space.' Wills told the audience at Bloomberg's London HQ: 'It takes a village to raise a family. 'If you take that into the concept of a planet, it takes all of us to raise that planet.'

Jacqueline Jossa supports Dan Osborne as he launches ambitious new business

EastEnders star Jacqueline Jossa showed her support for The Only Way Is Essex star husband Dan Osborne as he prepared to launch his new tanning salon business venture Jacqueline Jossa has thrown her support behind her husband Dan Osborne as he launched a new business - weeks after fears their marriage was on the rocks. The former EastEnders star, 32, has been married to ex-Towie star Dan, 34, since 2017 and together they are parents to two. Earlier this year it was suggested that Jac and Dan's marriage was on the rocks and headed for calamity. But come April, there were signs the couple were working through their issues and a "make or break" holiday away signaled that they were still together. ‌ Over the weekend, soap star Jacqueline turned up to the launch of her husband's new business venture, showing her support for the enterprise. Dan has created a new tanning salon in Benfleet, Essex, called Paradise. ‌ The couple were spotted there over the weekend - with Jac sporting a t-shirt adorned with the name of the new shop across the back. Dan shared highlights of a launch event while also teasing the official opening day. Sharing photos and video footage on Instagram, he wrote: "Thank you to everyone that came down today for our opening party of @paradiseinbenfleet We will be finally opening Wednesday 2nd July been a long time coming." Jacqueline reacted to the post writing: "Congratulations" alongside an excited emoji. While many other friends and followers reacted to Dan's post to offer further messages of congratulations. Jacqueline and Dan have weathered many storms over the course of their 12 year romance. They met at an awards show in 2013 and began dating soon after. They announced they were expecting their first child together the following year and their daughter, Ella, was born in February 2015. Four months later, in June 2015, the pair revealed they had become engaged. ‌ Dan shared the news with a social media post explaining he got down on one knee during a trip to Greece. He shared at the time: "She said YES!!! I am the luckiest man in the world to be marrying the woman of my dreams." After tying the knot in June 2017, the couple announced they were expecting a second baby together in January 2018. However, in May that year, they suffered their first bump - with reports hinting they had broken up while Jac was still pregnant. ‌ In June 2018, second daughter Mia arrived and in October that year it was revealed they had got back together - only for Dan to endure several claims he had been unfaithful in 2019. Despite repeated remarks their marriage was in trouble, the couple managed to remain close in the years since. But at the beginning of this year, there were reports they had broken up and were putting their family home on the market. Dan and Jacqueline ultimately hit back at the claims, however reports in March claimed Dan had moved out. However, they rekindled their romance in April when they took a "make or break" holiday to Mexico. A fellow holidaymaker told The Sun that they appeared to be getting on well, commenting: "Dan and Jac looked like any normal couple. There were a few Brits at the resort, but no one recognised them and they were left alone to relax and enjoy quality time together."
