The Edmonton Oilers' dream of clinching the Stanley Cup came to a devastating end yet again, this time in Game 6 against the Florida Panthers. With a 5-1 loss sealing a 4-2 series defeat, the heartbreak ran deep — not just among players and fans, but also within the families who've stood by through every exhausting moment.

's wife praises Oilers Nation with raw, emotional letter after crushing Stanley Cup loss
Amid the emotional wreckage, one voice quietly stood out — not from the locker room, but from the sidelines. Ida Björnstad, wife of Oilers defenseman Mattias Ekholm and a respected Swedish sports journalist, took to Instagram to deliver a deeply moving message that resonated far beyond the final score.
'As you might know, I'm a writer, and I love to put my thoughts into sentences and stories,' Ida began, in a post that felt more like a journal entry than a public statement.
'Most of my texts stay with me. This time, though, I would like to share some words with you.'
Her post was more than a show of support; it was a heartfelt window into the emotional toll a Stanley Cup run takes on not only players but also their families. Ida's perspective came not as a reporter, but as a partner who's been living the ups and downs of the season behind closed doors.
'I know how much hockey means to the Canadian people, and I understand that the people in Edmonton are heartbroken today, including our family,' she wrote, capturing the collective disappointment that enveloped the city after the Oilers fell short again.

She went on to highlight the intense mental and physical demands that playoff hockey imposes: 'Throughout the playoffs, many things are happening behind the scenes. Boundaries are being pushed in the most demanding way, both physically and mentally. For the players and their families, everything is about maximizing the chances of winning.'
Despite flashes of brilliance from Edmonton — including two hard-fought overtime wins — the Panthers controlled much of the series.
Edmonton was behind for a record-setting 255 minutes and 49 seconds and was outscored 28-17 overall. Game 6 saw Florida dominate early, with the Oilers unable to find their rhythm again.
Still, Ida chose to focus on the positives. 'For two years in a row, we have made it to the Stanley Cup Finals. The Oilers are the second-best hockey team in the world, and we have fans who support this team in both good times and bad. There is so much to be proud of and thankful for.'
And in her final thought, she reminded everyone of the bigger picture: 'As much as it hurts when you lose, this is a journey we will look back on one day, reflecting on the highs and lows and understanding that everything made sense.'
As the Oilers now prepare for a pivotal offseason, Ida's message offers something rare — a sense of grace and perspective in the face of loss, reminding fans why they fell in love with this team in the first place.

'Time to bring in Kuldeep Yadav': Ex-India cricketers drop big hint ahead of 2nd Test at Edgbaston

Kuldeep Yadav (BCCI Photo) NEW DELHI: Will Jasprit Bumrah feature in the second Test against England? What changes will India make after their defeat in the first Test? Will Kuldeep Yadav be brought into the mix? Who might be left out of the playing XI? These are some of the many questions being asked as India look to bounce back and level the series 1-1 when the second Test begins at Edgbaston in Birmingham on July 2. The Indian team management has already stated that Bumrah, due to workload management and his injury history, will only play three of the five Tests — although it's still unclear which matches those will be. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! In the first Test at Leeds, Bumrah took a five-wicket haul in the first innings but went wicketless in the second, bowling nearly 44 overs in total as England chased down 371. Kuldeep Yadav's exclusion from the first Test raised eyebrows, but after the loss, he is now being strongly considered for inclusion in the second Test, with the surface in Birmingham expected to assist spinners. 'Kis tarah se hum Kuldeep Yadav ko team la sakte hain ["How can we bring Kuldeep Yadav into the team?]. The team will have to give some thought to how we can bring Kuldeep Yadav into the XI, because judging by the approach we saw from the England batters in the first Test, Kuldeep — who bowls wrist spin — could be effective. Historically, England's batters haven't played wrist spin particularly well. So that is definitely something worth considering,' former India cricketer Sanjay Bangar said on Star Sports. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Bring home all new SP125 & get an instant cashback up to ₹5000# Honda Learn More Undo Kuldeep Yadav spins it tight at Edgbaston Former India batter Subramaniam Badrinath believes India should bring in both Kuldeep and pacer Arshdeep Singh for the Edgbaston Test. "I think one change could be replacing Shardul — I'd definitely look to include a bowler. And maybe instead of Prasidh Krishna, I'd look to add some variety. So probably, my changes would be Arshdeep Singh and Kuldeep Yadav coming into the XI. But then again, the final XI will depend on the conditions," Badrinath said. India's five-match Test series against England began with the first game at Headingley, Leeds, from June 20 to 24, where England secured a five-wicket win. The second Test will be played at Edgbaston, Birmingham, from July 2 to 6, followed by the third at Lord's, London, from July 10 to 14. The fourth Test is scheduled at Emirates Old Trafford, Manchester, from July 23 to 27, and the final Test will be held at the Kennington Oval, London, from July 31 to August 4. What Is Pickleball And Why Are Indians Suddenly Hating On It?

Last Updated: Pickleball, a sport that combines tennis, table tennis, and badminton, has found a sudden rise in traction and gained online popularity on the Indian social media. Is it badminton? Is it tennis? Is it table tennis? Oh, it's pickleball! If you haven't been online recently, let us introduce you to pickleball. The sport has been gaining traction and popularity on Indian social media, though not always for flattering reasons. For one, netizens biased towards traditional tennis and badminton are having a hard time accepting that pickleball is a real sport. But why? Pickleball The game originated in 1965 in a home's backyard when Joel Pritchard, Bill Bell, and Barney McCallum decided to entertain their families by improvising a game using ping-pong paddles, a plastic ball, and a badminton court with a lowered net. As the game slowly but surely gained popularity, it was accepted and formalised by the USA Pickleball Association in 1984. The refined, non-improvised version of pickleball that we see today isn't far from what its originators had put together to make their boring day an entertaining one. The widely played sport uses a cocktail of three global sports: tennis, table tennis, and badminton. Armed with a wooden (or composite material) paddle, the player smacks a perforated ball across a low net. The game aims to make rules 'less strict" for players. For one, the ball has to bounce once on each side of the court before volleying it. The court, which is the size of a badminton court, also has a non-volley zone near the net to avoid aggressive smashes. janta, there have been viral reels on Instagram showcasing the pickleball courts that have come up in the Delhi-NCR area and an hour of play, as claimed by some, could set you back by as much as Rs 800. What we can say with certainty is that the search for pickleball is in its peak era compared to the previous five years on Google Trends in India. Google Trends 'After seeing this up close I hereby declare pickleball is an absolute joke of a sport. The ball is no speed, no bounce, the paddle has no power. Playing catch catch with a toddler is more testing, (sic)" a user on X wrote. After seeing this up close I hereby declare pickleball is an absolute joke of a sport. 'I've played tennis, badminton, and squash for years. Then I played Pickleball a few weeks ago. I have no idea how this is even a real sport. It requires almost no physical fitness or agility. I was dominating without even playing it before," user @LifeMathMoney reviewed the game after trying it for the first time. Do we have the trend's origin? 'Pickleball slander on TL? Apparently some fellas in Bengaluru are playing it for 'networking purposes"," quipped @ugach_kahitarii. Something is better than nothing. Hey, at least you are off your couch and being active. 'pickleball is actually very cool because it is fun to play, and has gotten thousands of people off their couches. people hating on a fun little game are either pseudo-purists of another equally stupid but more challenging racket sport or just contrarians without a cause, (sic)" came @paarugsethi in sport's defense. 'People hating on pickleball bcz it is an easy sport don't realise that at least some people have started doing physical activity bcz of this. People in 30s, 40s and 50s playing again bcz of availability and ease of playing. Something is better than nothing! (sic)" 'Reminder for haters: Old person's sport aka Pickleball burns more calories and keeps you fitter than being a keyboard warrior. Pickleball is slow. Yeah try playing low and see if your back and quads don't get a pull," chimed in another.
