Chinese Animated Blockbuster 'Ne Zha 2' to Screen in Saudi Cinemas
Animated blockbuster 'Ne Zha 2' is hitting Saudi cinemas on June 23rd, bringing one of China's biggest box office phenomena to the region. The film smashed records earlier this year, crossing USD 2 billion globally to become the highest-grossing Chinese animation of all time - and the first non-Hollywood film to reach that milestone.
Directed by Yu Yang, 'Ne Zha 2' continues the story of the rebellious demon child from Chinese mythology, this time following him on a quest to save a lightning-struck friend by seeking out a powerful elixir. The film is packed with martial arts action, humour, and mythological world-building - just make sure to control the kids when they do pretend-kung fu out of the theatres.
The film will be released across the Middle East and North Africa in Mandarin Chinese, English, and Arabic. The Arabic dub was overseen by Saudi animator Malik Nejer, best known for his work on 'Masameer County'.
'This film reflects our commitment to meaningful cultural exchange,' Faisal Baltyuor, chairman of CineWaves Films, tells SceneNowSaudi. 'After bringing Saudi films to China through events like Saudi Film Nights, we're proud to now introduce one of China's most successful films to Arab audiences. 'Ne Zha 2' is a visually rich adventure that we believe will resonate across the region.'
The film is being brought to cinemas by CineWaves Films, the Saudi distributor that opened the first Arab cultural office in China and holds the largest library of Saudi films.

Legendary Is Mulling Acquisition of Lionsgate
Yara Sameh Legendary Entertainment is eyeing a deal to acquire Lionsgate Studios, following the latter company's recent separation from Starz. If a deal is reached, it would bring together Legendary, which is behind the Dune movie franchise and a 'monster-verse' collection that includes several Godzilla movies, with Lionsgate, whose film franchises include John Wick and the Hunger Games. Legendary first reached out about a potential partnership with Lionsgate Studios following the split-off of Starz in May. Lionsgate Studios formally separated from the Starz business effective May 7. The company comprising its TV and film production and distribution divisions and a content library with 20,000-plus titles, merged last year with Screaming Eagle Acquisition Corp., a special-purpose acquisition company (SPAC) and became a separately traded entity (with 87.3% of the total shares of Lionsgate Studios held by Lions Gate Entertainment Corp.). Meanwhile, Legendary last year bought out the stake Chinese conglomerate Dalian Wanda Group owned in the company. The pact left Legendary and private-equity firm Apollo Global Management, which acquired a stake in Legendary in 2022 for $760 million, in control of the company. Among the Legendary Pictures' slate was this year's blockbuster 'A Minecraft Movie,' as well as films including 'The Hangover,' 'The Dark Knight' and 'Enola Holmes.' In aggregate, Legendary Pictures-associated productions have grossed more than $20 billion worldwide at the box office, according to the company. Legendary's TV productions have included 'Monarch: Legacy of Monsters' for Apple TV+, and 'Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft' for Netflix. read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War News "Tensions Escalate: Iran Probes Allegations of Indian Tech Collaboration with Israeli Intelligence" News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks Arts & Culture Hawass Foundation Launches 1st Course to Teach Ancient Egyptian Language Videos & Features Video: Trending Lifestyle TikToker Valeria Márquez Shot Dead during Live Stream

K-pop Star and Former NCT Member Taeil Sentenced to 3.5 Years in Prison for Sexual Assault
Yara Sameh Former NCT member Taeil, whose real name is Moon Tae-il, was sentenced to three years and six months in prison by a Seoul district court on Thursday for his role in the gang rape of an intoxicated Chinese tourist, The Korea Times reported. The 31-year-old singer was immediately taken into custody following the ruling, alongside two accomplices identified only as Lee and Hong, who received identical sentences. All three men were found guilty of rape. A district judge described the crime as 'extremely grave' but handed down just half the seven-year sentence requested by prosecutors, noting the defendants were first-time offenders, according to BBC News . The court also mandated each man complete 40 hours of sexual violence treatment programming. The assault occurred in June 2024 when Taeil and his accomplices met their victim at a bar in Seoul's Itaewon district. According to court proceedings, she became intoxicated after drinking with them before they brought her by taxi to Lee's home, where the three men sexually assaulted her while she was unconscious. Under South Korean law, the offense is classified as both 'aggravated' rape due to multiple perpetrators and 'quasi rape' because the victim was unconscious and could not resist. All three defendants pleaded guilty to the charges in June. Taeil began his career in 2016 with NCT U, the inaugural unit of SM Entertainment's NCT project, before joining the popular subunit NCT 127. NCT launched as a K-pop group in January 2016, gaining recognition for experimental music across multiple genres and achieving international success with Billboard-charting releases. His career ended abruptly when he departed NCT in August 2024 as allegations surfaced, with the specific criminal details remaining undisclosed to the public at that time. SM Entertainment subsequently terminated his contract. read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War News "Tensions Escalate: Iran Probes Allegations of Indian Tech Collaboration with Israeli Intelligence" News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks Videos & Features Video: Trending Lifestyle TikToker Valeria Márquez Shot Dead during Live Stream Arts & Culture Hawass Foundation Launches 1st Course to Teach Ancient Egyptian Language

Amplify Palestine Drops ‘Unboundable: BDS Mixtape Vol. 3'
Marking two decades of the BDS movement, Amplify Palestine's 'Unboundable: BDS Mixtape Vol. 3' gathers 13 artists exploring solidarity through jazz, Arabic music, Indian classical, and electronics. Jul 11, 2025 Amplify Palestine drops 'Unboundable: BDS Mixtape Vol. 3', a 13-track compilation marking the 20th anniversary of the Palestinian call for Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions. The album spans Indian classical, Arabic music, free jazz, and experimental electronics, featuring artists like Huda Asfour, Qais Essar, The Dwarfs of East Agouza, and Muyassar Kurdi. Curated by Huda Asfour, Sonny Singh, and db, the compilation approaches improvisation as a tool for both musical and political dialogue. Side A brings together acoustic musicians rooted in tradition, while Side B dives into avant-garde sound experiments. Each track is a gesture of solidarity, from violin duos inspired by Mahmoud Darwish, to Gaza-dedicated pieces like Sami Abu Shumays' 'O Child', written during Israel's bombardment of Rafah. 'Unboundable' is a cultural act of defiance, channelling sound toward freedom, remembrance, and collective voice. All proceeds go toward cultural resistance projects in Palestine.
