Over 100 Ministers And MPs Take Part In Ukhuwah MADANI Programme In Port Dickson
PORT DICKSON, July 20 (Bernama) -- Over 100 Unity government leaders, including Cabinet ministers and Members of Parliament, took part in a community gotong-royong this morning as part of the MADANI Government Ukhuwah (brotherhood) Leadership programme in the district. The initiative, led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's MADANI administration, aims to foster closer ties between leaders and the people in a relaxed, inclusive setting rooted in shared values and solidarity. It also seeks to normalise the practice of leaders engaging directly with the public, creating a continuous culture of ground engagement and offering citizens a platform to voice their needs, concerns and ideas. Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, along with several Cabinet members and MADANI MPs, arrived at Kampung Sawah at 8.45 am and were briefed by the village head before spending about 25 minutes at the site of the Sejahtera Komuniti MADANI event. The delegation comprised Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad; Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri; Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali, and Deputy Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan. They were later joined by Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail; Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi; Human Resources Minister Steven Sim, and several other Cabinet members, who arrived at 8.30 am at the Kampung Teluk Pelandok Fishermen's Jetty to take part in a jetty painting activity and engage with residents. Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun was also present to show support, spending nearly 30 minutes at the jetty with the leaders and community members. Saifuddin described the programme as a meaningful experience that allowed him to connect with residents, gain insights into their daily activities and explore the area's economic potential. 'This programme allows us to engage directly with the local community. We got to know some of their products, such as homestays. With this kind of approach, it becomes clear that MADANI is not just about developing the nation, but also the individual,' he told reporters.

Penang Muruku Entrepreneurs Thrive With Family Recipe
By Farhana Poniman BUKIT MERTAJAM, July 20 (Bernama) – Armed with a cherished family recipe, a husband-and-wife duo turned their humble beginnings into a thriving muruku business, attracting customers from both Malaysia and abroad. Idris Alias, 67, and his wife, Fatimah Ishak, 63, from Guar Perahu, here, started their small home-based business in 1984 after she inherited a muruku recipe from her mother-in-law. 'I was seven months pregnant at the time, so we only made small batches of the crunchy snack. We had very little capital to start with. But I gave it a go, taking orders from friends. 'From those early days making muruku at home, we managed to grow the business under the brand name 'Muruku Bonda'. Nine years ago, we opened a shop in Kubang Semang, funded by profits we steadily reinvested,' Fatimah told Bernama. She said that Muruku Bonda uses natural ingredients, with no artificial colouring, and entirely free from eggs, anchovies, or any animal-based products, making it ideal for those following a vegetarian diet. Interestingly, over 85 per cent of their customers are from the Chinese community, making Chinese New Year their peak sales period. 'We even received orders from Taiwan at one point, but had to turn them down because the shipping costs were too high. Still, the customer flew over themselves and bought in bulk to take home,' she added. Currently, the couple operates with just two frying machines -- usually only one runs on regular days, producing around 150 kilogrammes (kg) of muruku daily, increasing to 200kg during festive periods.

AI roadmap by 3Q this year
Innovative technology: Gobind (left) visiting a booth after launching the National AI Competition 2025 at Sunway University in Selangor. — Bernama PETALING JAYA: A National Artificial Intelligence Roadmap that outlines a five-year plan is expected to be launched by the third quarter this year, said Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo. According to Gobind, the national AI roadmap from 2026 to 2030 is expected to have an entire chapter on AI education, and his ministry will be speaking to different sectors after the announcement. 'The document is ready. 'However, we anticipate launching it in the third quarter of this year,' said Gobind after he launched the National AI Competition 2025 at Sunway University yesterday. Gobind also said it is important to spread awareness about AI education, as it could foster interest in technology adoption among students. 'So, we will look at what data can be digitised and used to strengthen our education system,' said Gobind, adding that the national AI roadmap will focus on all sectors, and different ministries will be involved for that purpose. 'Different ministries will deal with different sectors, such as health and transportation, among others,' he said. Gobind said his ministry will also get feedback from other ministries on the issues faced by the country's sectors. 'We will devise a plan to overcome these challenges. 'One of the key areas is to ensure that we build talent that is able to optimise the potential of technology as we move forward,' he said. At the same time, Gobind said Malaysians should look at the use of generative AI such as ChatGPT as a form of innovation that can better their lives. 'Like it or not, technology will continue developing, and in this journey, we will see more innovations that can better our lives,' he said. In 2021, the Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry announced the National AI Roadmap 2021-2025, which outlined frameworks in agriculture, healthcare and education. Meanwhile, Gobind said over 2,500 students participated in the National AI Competition 2025, and more higher learning institutions should organise competitions as such. 'This is important because this is a platform where we can see how the technology is used and how it can benefit us,' said Gobind. 'This event gives important exposure to students, and I hope after this, every student will bring this message to their friends and family members that it is time to ensure that the nation is AI-ready.'
