Chief Minister Sawant was speaking at the 83rd birth anniversary of Sanatan Sanstha's founder, Jayant Athavale.Sawant said that the state's clean and beautiful temples are drawing more people than its beaches."In the past, people visited Goa to witness sun, sand, and sea. That has changed now. Tourists are arriving here to experience our rich culture and grand temples," he said, as reported by news agency PTI.He further mentioned that the temples in Goa are not managed by the government but by local communities who have upheld centuries-old rituals and customs."The government has no involvement in the management of the temples in the state," he said.advertisementHe also heaped praise on the Sanstha, based out of Ramnathi village in North Goa, for bringing spiritual awareness to people and teaching people more about the Sanatan Dharma.

If you lose your identity, whatever other meritorious qualities you may have, you will never be respected or secure in this world. That is the thumb rule,' Bhagwat said. Bhagwat also called for India to move beyond the symbolism of being the 'golden bird' and instead become a 'lion', asserting that the world recognises and respects power. 'The world understands power. Therefore, Bharat must become strong. It must also grow rich in economic terms,' Bhagwat said, stressing that strength and prosperity are essential for India to find its rightful place in the global order. Touching on the theme of national identity, Bhagwat made a strong case for preserving the name 'Bharat' without translation. 'Bharat is a proper noun. It should not be translated. 'India is Bharat' — that's true. But Bharat is Bharat. In every context — whether personal or public, while speaking or writing — we should say Bharat,' he emphasised. The RSS chief also spoke at length about the purpose and values of education, stating that true education empowers an individual to live independently while inculcating a spirit of sacrifice and selflessness. 'Education that teaches selfishness is not real education,' he declared. He further said that education is not confined to schools alone but extends to the home and society. 'The environment in which children grow up plays a crucial role. Society must reflect on what kind of atmosphere is needed to raise a confident and responsible generation,' Bhagwat said. The conference was attended by Kerala Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, along with several senior academicians and vice-chancellors from across India. President of Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas, Dr Pankaj Mittal, Secretary Dr Atul Kothari, Coordinator A Vinod, Chairman of Cochin Shipyard Madhu Nair were also present. The event focused on reshaping the country's educational framework in alignment with Indian cultural values and preparing the youth to face future challenges with clarity and confidence.

Senior TDP leader Ashok Gajapathi Raju sworn in as Governor of Goa
VIJAYAWADA: Senior Telugu Desam Party leader and former Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju was sworn in as the Governor of Goa on Saturday, succeeding PS Sreedharan Pillai. Ashok Gajapathi Raju took the oath of office at Raj Bhavan in Panaji, administered by Bombay High Court Chief Justice Alok Aradhe. Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and several dignitaries were present. Addressing the gathering, Ashok Gajapathi Raju said that he would uphold the Constitution while serving the people of Goa. Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu congratulated the newly appointed Goa Governor and expressed hope that he would set a high standard in his new role through impartial and dedicated service. AP Legislative Assembly Speaker Ch Ayyanna Patrudu, Union Civil Aviation Minister K Ram Mohan Naidu, and HRD and IT Minister Nara Lokesh also attended the ceremony and congratulated the Goa Governor. Speaking after his swearing-in, Gajapati Raju said he was looking forward to working with the people of Goa. 'I am delighted to be in Goa and delighted to swear by the constitution of India to serve the people of the country but Goans in particular. We all work as a team. I'm really delighted. I don't know the local language, but this is my first assignment at this state office,' he told reporters after the ceremony. 'I am looking forward to working with you. We want everyone to work united, and when we unite, we are second to none in the world,' he added. The oath ceremony was attended by chief minister Pramod Sawant along with the council of ministers, members of Parliament, MLAs and various dignitaries including Union minister for civil aviation K Rammohan Naidu, Union MoS, Shripad Naik, Speaker of Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly Chintakayala Ayyannapatradu, minister for women and child welfare, Andhra Pradesh, Gummidi Sandhya Rani, Rajya Sabha member Sadanand Shet Tanawade, other political leaders, and others. 'On behalf of the Goa government and the people of Goa I welcome him. He has vast experience in governance and administration. I will enjoy working under his guidance. He will be useful for us,' Goa chief minister Pramod Sawant said. Gajapathi Raju served as Union minister for civil aviation during the first tenure of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In 1978 he became MLA for Vizinagar constituency in Andhra Pradesh and later became a cabinet minister.
