Noida International Airport to be fully operational by November: Minister after review meeting
The Noida International Airport , which has missed several deadlines since its foundation stone was laid in November 2021, will start operating in November this year, industrial development minister Nand Gopal Gupta 'Nandi' announced on Saturday. Gupta, while speaking in a review meeting of the Yamuna Expressway Development Authority (YEIDA), said, "During the SP and BSP govts, the airport project would surface only around elections before disappearing again, like a genie back into its bottle. But in the past eight years, work actually moved beyond files gathering dust. And now, the airport is set to be fully completed by Nov this year. It will be the largest airport in Asia and the fourth largest in the world." This comes amid several missed deadlines. The airport was originally scheduled to be complete by September 2024. However, the timeline was postponed to April this year, then pushed to May-June because of pending work on the terminal building. In March, chief minister Yogi Adityanath had set a May 15 deadline for domestic flights and June 25 for international operations. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Seniors in the Philippines Can Enjoy Affordable Private Health Insurance! It said that cargo and domestic operations were expected by September 15, and full international services beginning in November. However, as the deadline approaches and the construction work continues, meeting the November deadline seems easier said that done. The airport project still needs crucial approvals, including security clearance from the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) and an aerodrome licence from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). Live Events Officials said that the project is 80 per cent complete, while the runway and airside infrastructure is more than 90 per cent done. The passenger terminal building is progressing steadily, with roofing and interior work currently in force. Supporting infrastructure has also seen significant development. A 750-metre interchange and internal roads connecting the airport with the Yamuna Expressway are complete. Water and sewage treatment plants, which were 40 per cent ready in March, are now advancing rapidly. Furthermore, the air traffic control building and the installation of CNS/ATM systems by the Airports Authority of India are also nearing completion. The state government has now imposed a fine of Rs 10 lakh on Yamuna International Airport Pvt Ltd (YIAPL), since January 1 since the project is getting delayed every month. Once complete, this 1,334-hectare project will be NCR's second full-fledged commercial airport, after Delhi's IGI. Hindon terminal in Ghaziabad, which is under the Indian Air Force, has also started commercial flights to metro cities.

300-cr bridge to link Coastal Rd at Haji Ali with arterial Parel path
Mumbai: A new elevated road is being proposed to connect Senapati Bapat Marg -- leading towards Phoenix Mills and Kamla Mills -- with the Haji Ali end of Lala Lajpatrai Road, where the coastal road has designated entry and exit points. If it goes as planned, people travelling from the crowded areas of Parel, Dadar, Matunga, and Mahim could soon reach the coastal road near Haji Ali junction within minutes. The proposed six-lane elevated corridor, currently a missing link in the city's east-west connectivity, will skirt along the edge of Mahalaxmi Racecourse and pass near the NSCI Dome. Officials from the urban development department said the project will not require any land acquisition, nor will it disrupt the existing flow of traffic during construction. The viaduct will begin near the coastal road's entry/exit on Lala Lajpatrai Road, pass through open areas alongside the race track and stadia, and land near the E Moses Road end of Senapati Bapat Marg. From there, motorists will have seamless access to Gokhale Road, Lady Jamshed Road, Bhavani Shankar Road, NM Joshi Marg, and onward to key locations like Siddhivinayak Temple, Shivaji Park, Lower Parel, and Mahim. At present, traffic coming from Haji Ali (via Tardeo, Pedder Road, Bhulabhai Desai Road, or the coastal road) must take a long detour through Worli Naka (via Annie Besant Road or Pandurang Budhkar Marg), Nehru Science Centre road, or Keshavrao Khadye Marg-Dr E Moses Road, loop around the racecourse and NSCI Dome to reach Dadar. Southbound traffic from Dadar and Parel must follow the same roundabout route. Deputy CM Eknath Shinde, whose office unveiled the proposal in coordination with the public works department (PWD), called the project a transformative move for the city's infrastructure. While implementing agencies are yet to be finalised, the plan has been received positively due to its promise to cut travel time and ease congestion without displacing people or requiring land acquisition. Shinde said: "It is more than just an infrastructure project; it's a visionary step toward Mumbai's future. Our goal is to make the city traffic jam-free. This signal-free corridor will enable smooth, uninterrupted travel. We are committed to building a faster, cleaner MMR that respects Mumbaikars' time and space."

Proposed T3 terminal at city airport to have arrival & departure facilities
Bhubaneswar: Authorities of Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) here have dropped the plan of segregated arrival and departure in two terminals (T1 & T3) and have decided to redesign the proposed T3 terminal into a standalone integrated facility. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now T-3 will be built over a 65,000 sqm area and will be able to handle 86 lakh flyers annually and 3,000 in an hour during peak time. An integrated terminal has departure and arrival facilities in one building. "In a meeting with stakeholders, we decided that it (T3) will be designed to handle both arrivals and departures. Segregation would have brought difficulties in handling passengers and other operations at both lounges," said BPIA director Prasanna Pradhan. "There is land available for the project in the operational area and close to the T1 building. There are altogether 18 aprons for aircraft to enter bays, but after the T3 is built, six more aerobridges will be required," he added. Officials privy to the development said the cost estimate for the project could touch Rs 1,000 crore. "The project estimate has been done. Now it needs to be passed to the board to start the project," an official said. The city airport had only one terminal before 2013, with the old domestic terminal converted into the international terminal (T2). In March 2013, a new state-of-the-art domestic terminal was constructed at a cost of Rs 145 crore on a modular pattern to allow further expansion. It can handle around 1,000 flyers at a time. Officials said that considering the air traffic, passenger comfort and commercial activities, the design of the new terminal will be finalised. Currently, the airport witnesses a daily footfall of more than 15,000. Five domestic destinations — Patna, Lucknow, Kochi, Jaipur, Dehradun and Indore — were recently added. Other cities directly connected with Bhubaneswar are Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru, Pune, Mumbai, Ranchi, Allahabad, Hyderabad, Raipur, Varanasi and Ahmedabad.
