Patriots rookie Efton Chism studying film of two-time Super Bowl champ
New England Patriots rookie wide receiver Efton Chism III revealed he is currently studying film on former Patriots great Danny Amendola, as he works on getting acclimated to a new offensive system.
It's certainly not a bad idea to study film on a two-time Super Bowl champion who made as great an impact as Amendola did in New England. He recorded 230 receptions for 2,386 yards and 12 touchdowns in five seasons with the Patriots.
Perhaps his greatest contributions were his clutch playoff performances, where he tallied a total of 57 catches for 709 yards and six touchdowns in 13 postseason games.
Chism has a similar physical makeup at receiver, and he is hoping to learn a thing or two from Amendola's tape.
Chism stood out as a possible dark horse to make the final roster in the spring practices. That noise has dipped in training camp, but it could be on the verge of ramping back up with a strong preseason showing.
Perhaps Chism can take successful elements from Amendola's game and apply them to his own approach in training camp.

Sam Darnold is the driving force for new-look Seahawks
The Seattle Seahawks are trying to find a new identity after firing Super Bowl-winning head coach Pete Carroll. Seattle replaced him with young great defensive mind Mike Macdonald striving to go younger. The Seahawks also moved on from older veteran quarterback Geno Smith, taking a big swing with Sam Darnold . It is a full youth movement across the board in Seattle. The Seahawks brass are hoping UC's Sam Darnold is the right man to lead the new ship. Seahawks Wire writer Justin Melo deciphered Bleacher Report's selection for Sam Darnold as the biggest reason for optimism in Seattle: "Darnold had a Pro Bowl campaign with the Vikings in 2024 but had never been a dependable starter before that campaign," Kristopher Knox acknowledged. "Seattle also lacks the strong supporting cast that Minnesota gave Darnold last season. Seattle's new-look receiving corps headlined by Cooper Kupp, Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Jaxon Smith-Njigba has potential. However, it isn't as proven as a Minnesota group headlined by Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison and T.J. Hockenson." "Hopefully the duo of Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Cooper Kupp will be effective enough for Darnold in 2025. It's true that the Seahawks can't match Minnesota's supporting cast. It's worth noting the Seahawks also plan to field a run-first offense this season, potentially removing some pressure from Darnold. 'If Darnold does pan out, Seattle might have itself a top-10 signal-caller for the next decade-plus,' Knox added. 'The 28-year-old flashed his elite physical tools early and often last season. If offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak—who previously coached Darnold as the 49ers' passing game coordinator—can play to Darnold's strengths as Kevin O'Connell did, there's a real chance that Seattle's gamble will pay off in a big way.'" Sam Darnold may not have the exact ingredients he had in Minnesota, but there are quite a few similarities in Seattle. JSN is not Justin Jefferson, but he is a great ascending receiver, and Cooper Kupp does all the little things right, making him extremely valuable to Darnold. Darnold does not have quarterback whisperer Kevin O'Connell, but he has a new offensive coordinator, Klint Kubiak, who has faith in him and a history with him in San Francisco with the 49ers. All it takes to repeat success is some familiarity, and that is exactly what the Seahawks are trying to give to Darnold.

Chiefs sign 2 DBs, add receiver to training camp roster
The post Chiefs sign 2 DBs, add receiver to training camp roster appeared first on ClutchPoints. The Kansas City Chiefs are a motivated team following last year's debacle in the Super Bowl. It was not enough for the Chiefs to get to the championship game as the AFC champions. They were taken apart by the Philadelphia Eagles in somewhat embarrassing fashion for head coach Andy Reid and quarterback Patrick Mahomes. The Chiefs have made it a point to say that their offense would be much more efficient and potentially dominant in 2025 after two relatively ordinary seasons. One of the ways the Chiefs are trying to sharpen their all-around performance is to practice more consistently in training camp. Reid and general manager Brett Veach are bringing in new players to push everyone on the roster just a little bit harder. The Chiefs added three players Friday prior to the team's practice session. They include defensive backs Ajani Carter and Azizi Hearn along with wide receiver Key'Shawn Smith. Carter played his college football with the Houston Cougars and he was credited with 22 tackles in 11 games last year. Hearn signed with the Las Vegas Raiders in the 2023 season as an undrafted free agent. Smith played college football at the University of Miami and Southern Methodist. He was fairly productive at the college level, recording 106 receptions for 1,581 yards and 13 touchdowns. It may be a long shot for any of the three players to earn a roster spot on the Chiefs, but they can practice with effort in an attempt to open eyes and put productive practices on videotape. Chiefs need their offense to get back to elite status While Kansas City won the Super Bowl two years ago and got back to that game last year, the offense was not as dominant as it had been in the past. It's a compliment to Reid and the personnel that the Chiefs made back-to-back Super Bowl appearances even though the offense had lost some of its luster, but the focus is on playing explosive football in 2025. They certainly have the leader under center in Mahomes. While his numbers were not as impressive the last two seasons, he clearly ranks as one of the top quarterbacks in the league. Mahomes completed 392 of 561 passes for 3,928 yards with 26 touchdowns and 11 interceptions last year. When the quarterback was at his best, he threw for more than 5,000 yards and fired 50 TD passes in a single season. It's unlikely he can get to that level in 2025, but throwing for 4,500 yards or more with 35-plus TD passes would mean the Chiefs have regained much of their offensive firepower. Andy Reid makes ‘full speed ahead' quip on Rashee Rice's status
The post Andy Reid makes 'full speed ahead' quip on Rashee Rice's status appeared first on ClutchPoints. The Kansas City Chiefs will have revenge on the mind during the 2025 NFL season. Kansas City's chance at a three-peat was demolished by Philadelphia in Super Bowl 59. The Chiefs will now do whatever it takes to get back to the big game during the 2025 season. It would help to have one of their best wide receivers back on the field. Chiefs head coach Andy Reid made a hilarious quip about receiver Rashee Rice in a recent interview. 'He's done a nice job off the field, he's doing a nice job on the field,' Reid said per Michael David Smith of PFT. 'You learn from your mistakes, that's the important part. So all of that. On the field, he's just been full speed ahead—no pun intended.' Reid unintentionally made a hilarious pun about Rice's legal troubles that threaten to keep him off the field at some point during the regular season. Rice was involved in a car crash during the 2024 offseason which was related to a street racing incident. The crash left several people injured and Rice faced eight criminal charges as a result. Rice was sentenced to five years probation and 30 days of jail time on July 17th. Since Rice was sentenced, NFL insiders estimated that the league would expedite its disciplinary process and give the receiver a multi-game suspension. Considering the nature of Rice's legal charges, Reid unintentionally made a pun by saying that Rice has been 'full speed ahead' during training camp. The NFL can announce whether or not Rice will receive a suspension at any time. For now, the Chiefs simply have to prepare for the worst. Chiefs' Rashee Rice opens up on suspension talks during training camp Rice is doing the best he can while he waits for suspension news. The talented wide receiver opened up on his potential multi-game suspension during a recent interview at training camp. 'Honestly, it's still in the works,' Rice said. 'My legal team is handling that. All I can do is focus on what I can control right now, and that's me doing what I do best right here on the field.' Rice is not going to let a potential suspension slow him down, despite the uncertainty of his future. 'This is my job, and this is what I love to do,' Rice concluded. 'Even when I'm not able to be out there with my team, I'm still going to be working as hard as I can so I can be back out there with them as soon as possible.' Hopefully the NFL announces how they plan to discipline Rice, if at all, as soon as possible.
