Chandigarh University will create industry-ready professionals for Banking and Financial Services Companies says ICAI Chairman, CA Anurag Pandey Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India (NewsVoir) The Faculty of Business and Commerce at Chandigarh University, Uttar Pradesh organised a panel discussion focused on India's transformation through education and its goal to become a $7 trillion economy by 2030. The event witnessed participation from industry leaders, academicians and expert panellists. Held in two sessions, the discussion delved into themes such as changes in education, the future of the economy, and the roadmap for achieving the $7 trillion economic goal.
The panel also explored how AI will impact employment in the coming years. Speakers highlighted that AI-based jobs are likely to witness a 40 percent rise over the next five years. According to the India Skills Report 2024, the AI industry in India is expected to reach USD 28.8 billion by the end of 2025. Additionally, as per a report by ServiceNow and Pearson, AI is projected to generate 2.8 million new jobs in India by 2028. Under the Uttar Pradesh government's newly launched UP AI City Project, a target has been set to create 50,000 direct and indirect jobs over the next five years, reflecting the promising future of AI in India.

According to the Stanford AI Index 2024, India ranks first globally in AI skill penetration and has recorded a 263 percent growth in this sector since 2016. Moreover, India has now emerged as the world's third-largest startup ecosystem, having generated over 1.6 million jobs through 1.57 lakh startups. These statistics indicate that India is becoming a global power in AI skills, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
While speaking on the role of AI in the finance and commerce sectors, speakers pointed out how AI is making processes such as data analysis, customer service, fraud detection and investment advisory faster, more accurate, and more secure than ever before. AI-powered chatbots and automated tools are not only improving customer experience but also enhancing critical functions like risk management and credit scoring. This is making banking and financial services more transparent and efficient.
Speakers also emphasized that cyber fraud has become a major challenge in the digital era, and AI is proving to be an effective tool in combating it. AI-based systems can identify suspicious transactions in real-time. Thus, AI technology is playing a significant role not only in economic and educational development but also in strengthening cybersecurity. The event was graced by Prof. Manuka Khanna, Pro Vice Chancellor of Lucknow University as the chief guest, and by special guests including Prof. Neel Mani Verma, former Vice Chancellor of BBAU Lucknow, Prof. Amarendra Pratap Singh from IGNTU Amarkantak, and Mr. Ambarish Srivastava, Senior Consultant, TCS Lucknow.
During the discussion, experts also stressed that aligning education with innovation, industry needs, and the vision of Digital India can not only make Indian youth globally competitive but also help India become economically self-reliant and prosperous. This session saw a deep exchange of ideas on India's new education policy, technology-driven education systems, the relationship between industry and academia, and the role of education in economic growth. A key thought that emerged was that adopting innovation and industry-oriented vision in education systems can make India's economy stronger and more inclusive.
In the second session titled 'Roadmap to a $7 Trillion Economy', the speakers discussed the necessary steps to take India's economy to the next level. This session was moderated by Prof. Ashutosh Bajpai from the Faculty of Business and Commerce, Chandigarh University UP. Key speakers included Prof. Manoj Agrawal, Professor, Department of Economics, Lucknow University; Prof. Saurabh, Dean, Siddharth University, Kapilvastu; and CA Anurag Pandey, Chairman of the Lucknow Branch of ICAI. All the speakers, being experts in their respective fields, shared valuable insights on the role of education, policy and investment in India's economic advancement.

Pimpri Chinchwad civic body demolishes slums near Kala Khadak for road widening to ease Hinjewadi IT Park traffic
Pune: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) on Wednesday carried out a demolition drive near Kala Khadak to facilitate the widening of a road connecting Hinjewadi IT Park. Around 46,000 square feet of encroachments, including 96 slum hutments, commercial shops, and brick structures, which were obstructing the expansion of the road to 45 metres, were cleared. A civic official said the Kala Khadak area was one of the key bottlenecks contributing to traffic congestion around Bhumkar Chowk and Dange Chowk, which are major access points to the IT park. The exercise covered a 250-metre stretch, extending up to 16 metres from the main road. The move followed a meeting chaired by chief minister Devendra Fadnavis last week in Mumbai, where officials and representatives of the IT employees discussed traffic snarl and infrastructure issues. The widening of the road connecting Aundh BRTS Road to Y Junction at Hinjewadi remains incomplete at three locations, including Kala Khadak, due to encroachments. Civic officials clarified that all the 96 affected slum dwellers are beneficiaries of a scheme by the Slum Rehabilitation Authority and will soon be relocated to a nearby project. Additional municipal commissioner Pradip Jambhale Patil told TOI: "We have temporarily shifted these families to Kiwale, where accommodation has been arranged." Debris will be removed soon, and road-widening work will begin on Wednesday, Patil said. "The widening will help ease congestion not only towards Hinjewadi IT Park but also along the road connecting Phoenix Mall and adjoining areas," he added. Bapusaheb Gaikwad, PCMC's joint city engineer and head of the urban mobility department, confirmed that this stretch was among the bottlenecks identified in earlier studies. "This action has freed up the full corridor from Dange Chowk and Bhumkar Chowk to Hinjewadi, which will significantly improve the traffic flow," he said. He further said that the National Highways Authority of India still needs to undertake several additional projects to create multiple access points and underpasses, enabling smoother connectivity between both sides of the highway. Municipal commissioner Shekhar Singh said, "We have intensified actions against illegal structures across the city. Officials have been instructed to demolish on priority any unauthorised structures obstructing infrastructure projects." Daily commuters welcomed the move and said that the widening of the road will significantly reduce congestion. Dattatray Deshmukh, chairman of the Pimpri Chinchwad Cooperative Housing Societies Federation, said, "Earlier it used to take 15-20 minutes just to cross the 500-metre stretch near Kala Khadak. Clearing these encroachments is a relief, but it is equally important to expedite the road widening to achieve real improvement. Many IT professionals rely on this route every day to reach their offices."

UP sets ball rolling for ‘Viksit UP' by 2047
1 2 3 Lucknow: To chart a roadmap for developing a 'Viksit Uttar Pradesh' by 2047, in alignment with the vision of 'Viksit Bharat', a preliminary meeting was held in the state capital on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh. The meeting included senior officials from the planning department, the NITI Aayog, and domain experts to outline a long-term strategy to achieve this goal. Highlighting Uttar Pradesh's role in contributing to India's growth and in achieving the national target of becoming a USD 5 trillion economy and a developed nation by 2047, the chief secretary said that UP accounts for 10% of India's land area and contributes 20% of the nation's foodgrain production. He added that a 50-hectare agri-export facility, equipped with testing, treatment, and packaging infrastructure, is being set up near Jewar Airport to support cargo-based exports of horticultural produce. "UP currently accounts for 42% of India's expressway network, which is expected to rise to 52% upon completion of the Ganga Expressway. The state also boasts a dense railway network and the upcoming Multi-Modal Logistics Park in Greater Noida, aligned with the Eastern and Western Freight Corridors. UP's demographic advantage is being leveraged through data-driven initiatives like UPDASP, which covers 2.63 crore farmers and 8 crore land parcels," he said. "Initiatives such as 'One District, One Product', 'One District, One Medical College', and the 'Zero Poverty Scheme' will ensure inclusive growth across the state," the chief secretary added. During the meeting, NITI Aayog CEO BVR Subrahmanyam said that UP, as the fifth most populous region globally, must adopt a mission-mode approach to implement its development plan. He emphasised the need for a bottom-up strategy driven by public participation, supported by sector-specific missions, flagship programmes, 'Information, Education, Communication' (IEC) campaigns, and strong local involvement. Meanwhile, NITI Aayog member Rajiv Gauba outlined key steps the state should take toward this goal, including governance reforms, improving the ease of doing business, and asset monetisation. He stressed the importance of identifying industrial parks and cities, reducing compliance burdens, and leveraging public-private partnership (PPP) models. Principal secretary (planning), Alok Kumar, informed the meeting that UP's Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) grew at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 15.2% between FY 2021 and FY 2025, surpassing India's national CAGR of 13.6%. The Female Labour Force Participation Rate increased from 14.2% in 2017–18 to 35.8% in 2023–24. According to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) India Index 2023–24, UP moved from the 'Performer' to the 'Frontrunner' category, registering the highest national increase in index points since 2018.

Aapli Bus Sets Ridership Record: Over 1.54 Lakh Passengers in a Day
1 2 Nagpur: In a major milestone for Nagpur's public transport, the city's Aapli Bus service ferried over 1.54 lakh passengers on Tuesday, July 15 — the highest single-day ridership recorded so far. The feat also brought in revenue of Rs28.88 lakh, boosted by a growing share of digital payments. Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) officials attributed the surge to improved connectivity, affordability, and a recent push to modernize services. "We are witnessing a steady shift towards digital transactions, which is key to making urban transport smarter and more efficient," said an official from the transport department. NMC commissioner and administrator Abhijeet Chaudhari termed July 15 a landmark for the civic body's transport wing and praised staff efforts. He visited the NMC headquarters on Wednesday to review a pilot project for automated passenger counting, currently running on 30 long buses (12-metre). He directed officials to expand the system across the fleet to enable data-driven operations.
