Trump threatens to revoke Rosie O'Donnell's citizenship

Telegraph11 hours ago
Donald Trump has threatened to strip Rosie O'Donnell, the actress and comedian, of her American citizenship, labelling her a 'threat to humanity'.
Mr Trump said the 63-year-old entertainer, a long-time critic of his, was 'not in the best interests of our country' and called for her to remain 'in the wonderful country of Ireland', where she moved following his election win last year.
The US president does not have any legal power to unilaterally strip an individual of their citizenship, but Mr Trump said he was giving 'serious consideration to taking away her citizenship'.
O'Donnell, who had apparently provoked the president by criticising his response to the deadly flooding in Texas, fired back in a post on Instagram, labelling Mr Trump a 'criminal conman' and a 'dangerous old soulless man with dementia'.
Feud has lasted almost 20 years
'Because of the fact that Rosie O'Donnell is not in the best interests of our great country, I am giving serious consideration to taking away her citizenship,' Mr Trump wrote on his Truth Social account on Saturday.
'She is a threat to humanity, and should remain in the wonderful country of Ireland, if they want her. God Bless America!'
The feud between the president and the comedian began in 2006, when O'Donnell criticised Mr Trump for presenting himself as a 'moral authority' in a controversy involving the Miss USA pageant.
At a Republican primary debate in 2015, when Mr Trump was questioned by a moderator about labelling women 'fat pigs' and 'slobs', he responded: 'Only Rosie O'Donnell.'
Responding on Saturday to Mr Trump's citizenship threat, O'Donnell, who was born in New York, fired back: 'The president of the USA has always hated the fact that I see him for who he is – a criminal con man sexual abusing liar out to harm our nation to serve himself – this is why I moved to Ireland.'
She appeared to be referring to Mr Trump being found liable in 2023 for sexually assaulting E Jean Carroll, a magazine columnist. He had denied the allegation.
O'Donnell went on to label the president a 'dangerous old soulless man with dementia who lacks empathy compassion and basic humanity'.
Last week, she blamed Mr Trump for the loss of life in Texas after devastating flash flooding which killed at least 129 people.
'When the president guts all of the early warning systems and the weather forecasting abilities of the government, these are the results that we're going to start to see on a daily basis,' she said on TikTok.
Comedian seeking Irish citizenship
O'Donnell moved to Ireland with her 12-year-old child in January, shortly after the president's inauguration, saying she was in the process of obtaining Irish citizenship via her grandparents, who came from County Donegal and County Kildare.
'When it is safe for all citizens to have equal rights there in America, that's when we will consider coming back,' she said in March.
Appearing on The Chris Cuomo Project podcast last month, she claimed Mr Trump's election win caused her to overeat.
'I was very, very depressed. I was overeating. I was overdrinking,' she said.
'It hurt my heart that America believed the lies about him. And then it broke my heart to be in a business that creates and sells those lies for profit.'
She claimed to have been heckled while shopping by Mr Trump's supporters following his election victory, and said she moved to Ireland for 'self-preservation'.
'When I got here, I noticed right away there was a different culture about celebrity,' she said. They're not lauded in Ireland. They're not thought of as better than anyone else.'

Trump faces MAGA revolt on his own social media platform after defending Pam Bondi amid Epstein files debacle

President Donald Trump faced backlash from his own MAGA faithful over a post defending Attorney General Pam Bondi's handling of the Jeffrey Epstein files. The revolt came after Trump backed Bondi and the Department of Justice after they insisted Epstein didn't have a client list of elites that were secretly sexual predators. The joint memo with the FBI also said investigators 'did not uncover evidence that could predicate an investigation against uncharged third parties.' Trump began his post by asking what was 'going on' with his supporters who are going after Bondi for essentially declaring the Epstein case closed. 'We're on one Team, MAGA, and I don't like what's happening. We have a PERFECT Administration, THE TALK OF THE WORLD, and 'selfish people' are trying to hurt it, all over a guy who never dies, Jeffrey Epstein,' Trump wrote. The replies from Trump's supporters flooded in, with some expressing how betrayed they felt by a man who repeatedly promised he'd go after traffickers of children. 'This statement breaks my heart, Mr. President,' a woman wrote. 'I can't even begin to comprehend the flipped narrative that 'it was so long ago' 'why are we still talking about this' and 'nobody should care.' These victims were some ones daughters, sisters, nieces, granddaughter. Someone's child. Please reconsider, sir. I voted for everything you are doing!' Plenty of others were willing to tell him he was wrong and that his stance on this issue will fracture the movement he's built. 'You aren't reading the room Mr. President,' one person wrote. 'You can't call the Epstein files fake, say nobody cares and warn MAGA to fall in line. You said Pam Bondi is doing a fantastic job, your administration is perfect and Epstein is just an Obama distraction. We don't just fall in line.' Trump also tried to lay the blame on Democrats. He said the Epstein files were written by all his political enemies, including Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, former CIA director John Brennan, former FBI Director James Comey and 'the Losers and Criminals of the Biden Administration.' 'They created the Epstein Files, just like they created the FAKE Hillary Clinton/Christopher Steele Dossier that they used on me, and now my so-called 'friends' are playing right into their hands,' he said. 'Why didn't these Radical Left Lunatics release the Epstein Files? If there was ANYTHING in there that could have hurt the MAGA Movement, why didn't they use it?' After talking at length about his accomplishments, new investigations he wants to open and how Bondi is looking into the 2020 stolen election conspiracy theory, Trump concluded his post by Epstein was 'somebody that nobody cares about.' 'One year ago our Country was DEAD, now it's the 'HOTTEST' Country anywhere in the World. Let's keep it that way, and not waste Time and Energy on Jeffrey Epstein, somebody that nobody cares about,' he wrote. Another person who said they support MAGA '100 percent' was even willing to entertain the idea that Trump was on Epstein's client list. 'We want the guilty to pay. It appears you or a loved one was in on it and you want this to go away. Everyone I know is upset about this and it will kill MAGA. Which we all have supported 100 percent,' they wrote. 'Please reconsider. Sincerely.' 'You are wrong on this one. There is no good you can do that will tip the balance against letting child rapists (Epstein's apparently nonexistent clients, according to YOUR DOJ) walk free,' another person replied. And since Trump went to the mat for Bondi, other supporters of his replied with their frustration about her supposedly stringing them along. They felt Bondi gaslit them, especially when she handed conservative influencers binders titled 'The Epstein Files: Phase 1.' Many pointed out that Bondi did a Fox News interview in late February and said the Epstein files are 'sitting right now on my desk to review.' One person was particularly angry that Trump said Bondi was doing a 'fantastic job.' 'She is not doing her forking job. She is hiding the truth about satanic child ritual abuse,' they wrote. 'How are we supposed to get to the New Golden Age if these scumbags are getting away with their crimes against the children and humanity?' Another simply said, 'PS - Bondi should be fired.' It seems the rift in the MAGA movement isn't just with the voters; it's also at the very highest levels of government, as Deputy FBI Director Dan Bongino and his boss Kash Patel are reportedly considering resigning from the bureau over how Bondi handled the Epstein files Yet another asked why Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein's longtime girlfriend and sex trafficking accomplice, is in prison if Trump and the Justice Department say it's time to move on from the Epstein files. 'Then, why is Ghislaine Maxwell in Prison Sr.? The American people need answers to this matter!,' the person wrote. 'I know @pambondi isn't doing as well due to zero arrests! How come this government is being soft on arrests of Epstein Clients?' It seems the rift in the MAGA movement isn't just with the voters; it's also at the very highest levels of government. Deputy FBI Director Dan Bongino, once a radio host and a Secret Service agent, has considered resigning from his post over the handling of the Epstein files. It came after he got into a contentious argument with Bondi over the issue at the White House. An insider at the Justice Department told Daily Mail that Bongino will quit if Bondi doesn't step down or get fired. 'I don't see a scenario where Dan stays if Bondi remains,' the insider said. A Justice Department source told Daily Wire reporter Mary Margaret Olohan that FBI Director Kash Patel also wants Bondi to be fired and will consider leaving if she is allowed to stay.

Trump's border czar Tom Homan challenges heckler to a fight during unhinged rant: 'I deserve your respect'

Trump's Border Czar Tom Homan had some strong words for a heckler - and even challenged the protester to a fight. Homan was just about five minutes into his prepared remarks at the Turning Point USA Student Action Summit in Tampa, Florida on Saturday night when he was interrupted by a heckler. 'Are you an MS-13 member?' the unidentified protester could be heard shouting out, referring to a notorious Salvadoran gang that has been targeted in the Trump administration's deportation efforts. Homan quickly turned his attention to the man, as he was being led out of the Tampa Convention Center. 'You know what? I'm sick of these a**holes. You want some? Come get some,' the 63-year-old taunted in an unhinged rant. 'I'm tired of it.' 'For the men and women of ICE, I deserve your respect. They're the finest one percent this country has,' he continued, before referring to himself in third-person. 'And Tom Homan isn't going anywhere. Tom Homan isn't shutting up.' At that point, Homan turned his attention back to the audience - as he hit out at the nationwide protests against Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents. 'This guy wouldn't know what it's like to serve this nation,' the border czar claimed. 'This guy ain't got the balls to be an ICE officer. He hasn't got the balls to be a border patrol agent,' he continued, as the conservative crowd cheered. 'This guy lives in his mother's basement. The only thing that surprised me is [he] doesn't have purple hair and a nose ring. 'Get out of here, you loser,' he told the protester one more time as he was being escorted out of the auditorium. 'And if you're such a bad***, meet me offstage in 13 minutes and 50 seconds.' But Homan didn't stop there, telling the audience: 'I guarantee you, he sits down to pee.' Much of the rest of his speech also focused on the growing protests against ICE officers across the country, which he said are targeting federal immigration officials on almost a daily basis. He also said he has never before seen 'such hate against the men and women of ICE and in the Border Patrol,' but vowed that agents will not be intimidated because 'we're going to do the job that President Trump gave us to do.' 'If these protesters, these people with purple hair, with a nose ring who live in their parents' basement, who don't work and want to go protest us, or get paid by people if they're going to stop ICE or stop Border Patrol doing their job, they got another thing coming,' Homan claimed. 'Because every time they double down, we're going to triple down.' He then concluded his remarks by vowing: 'Tom Homan is going to run the biggest deportation operation this country has ever seen. 'Take it to the bank.' The comments came just one day after President Trump directed federal law enforcement officials to use 'whatever means necessary' to arrest anyone who throws rocks or other projectiles at ICE agents during immigration raids. The president appeared to be referring to footage of protestors violently clashing with ICE agents during the Thursday raid of a cannabis farm in Camarillo, a city in Southern California. The raid, despite the chaos, resulted in 200 migrant workers being detained. This included some juveniles who authorities say were illegally working on the farm. One Mexican farm worker, Jaime Alanís, died in the hospital Friday after he fell 30 feet off a building and broke his neck and skull. The raid was on Glass House Farms, which employs hundreds of people and bills itself as the largest cannabis operation in the world. CBP said it served a warrant on the farm, accusing it of employing illegal migrant workers. ICE and the National Guard reportedly executed that warrant on Thursday. Protestors then showed up to impede federal agents, some of whom threw smoke canisters and flash bangs to control the growing crowd. Once the smoke and tear gas was deployed, most of the protestors ran in the opposite direction, though some were seen throwing rocks at the agents. The demonstration lasted past 11pm on Thursday, with federal agents remaining on the scene as well. Video and photos from the scene showed ICE agents clashing with a crowd of more than 100 people - many of them farmworkers or their family members - who had initially formed a human blockade along the road. It was a scene of absolute chaos, with protesters, farmworkers, and family members scattering throughout the fields.

EXCLUSIVE Blackout blinds and midnight grocery runs: Inside the reclusive lives of Trump shooter Thomas Matthew Crooks' parents

Behind the blackout blinds lining every window and cameras covering all angles of the modest brick home in Bethel Park, Pa. live the couple who may hold the answer to why Thomas Matthew Crooks, opened fire at President Trump at the Butler campaign rally, striking his ear and killing Corey Comperatore on July 13, 2024. But his parents, Matthew and Mary Crooks, have remained stubbornly silent and hunkered down since the shooting one year ago, and still refusing to speak about their son and his horrific act when Daily Mail knocked on their door this week. Since Crooks assassination attempt, his family are barely seen by neighbors with many assuming they had moved from the leafy area. His sister Katherine, 24, a janitor, has been spotted leaving her apartment less than a mile from her parents' home. But her parents have essentially become recluses, the only sign that the home is still lived in is the vehicle on the driveway moving, though neighbors can't recall the last time this happened. Crooks father even resorted to buying groceries at 3am in a bid to avoid prying eyes, not keeping to a regular routine. Both he and his wife, who is visually impaired, had previously worked as social workers since 2002. But Daily Mail can reveal that their son's high profile assassination attempt has resulted in neither renewing their licenses, which expired in February of this year. One neighbor told Daily Mail they assumed the family had moved, adding: 'We haven't seen anyone coming or going for quite a while. 'Most of us thought they had moved on or are still keeping to themselves.' His family's silence is just one of the puzzle pieces surrounding the attack, with the FBI still unable to point to a solid motive for the seemingly mild-mannered student to shoot Trump. Federal profilers have speculated that Crooks may simply have wanted to commit a mass shooting and found a convenient target for his dark fantasy in the timing and geographical proximity of Trump's rally which was held just 40 miles from where he lived with his parents. In April, Crooks searched websites for information on major depressive disorder and depressive crisis treatment. He left no manifesto or explanation for the shooting. According to CNN, Crooks' parents had attempted to reach their son when they could not find him earlier that day, but he did not respond. They then called law enforcement to tell them that their son was missing. It is not known whether they were aware that he was armed. Since the attack investigators have focused on Crooks' online activity in the months and days leading up to it in a bid to gain some sense of his state of mind. Intriguingly it has emerged that he searched online for information on Michigan mass-shooter Ethan Crumbley and his parents. Crooks left home on the day of the rally armed with an AR-15 style rifle that was bought legally by his father in 2013 and transferred to him in 2023. He was an enthusiastic member of Clairton Sportsmen's Club which he visited the day before the incident to practice on the rifle range which offers high powered rifle benches with targets up to 187 yards - roughly the distance crooks was from Trump when he shot him. Immediately after the attack the FBI removed 14 firearms from the small family home as well as explosives, a second cellphone, a laptop and a hard drive. In addition to the arsenal recovered from his home investigators recovered rudimentary explosive devices from Crooks' car, a bulletproof vest, additional magazines – bought both online and the previous day from Allegheny Arms & Gun Works – and a drone. Another mystery is why the FBI allowed his body to be released so swiftly after the shooting. While Crooks body was cremated just 10 days after the shooting, it is unclear exactly what the family have done with his remains. There is no plaque or obvious burial spot at the family's plot of land in Mount Royal Cemetery, Glenshaw, which is home to three generations of Crooks. His great grandfather, great grandmother, grandparents and uncle are all buried in the same area, along with other members of the family dating back to 1929. Crooks was 'neutralized' by a Secret Service sniper 26 seconds after he first shot. By then he had already fired eight bullets. He hit Trump, 78, in a grazing shot to his right ear, struck retired fire chief Comperatore, 50, in the head, killing him. He grievously wounded audience members James Copenhaver, 74, and David Dutch, 57, who suffered 'life altering' injuries as a result of the attack. It comes as the Secret Service suspended six agents over failures during the attack, nearly a year later. Myosoty Perez was one of six agents suspended for between 10 and 42 days following the July 13, 2024 attack in Butler. She was sent to the location of the rally ahead of time and was specifically tasked with helping to secure the surrounds, the New York Post revealed. Another agent who helped to coordinate security for the rally was also reportedly suspended, along with four people from the Pittsburgh field office. The final suspension was reportedly an agent on the counter-sniper team. A US Secret Service report released just days before the 2024 election confirmed that 'multiple operational and communications gaps preceded the July 13 attempted assassination.' The Secret Service also described some of the gaps as 'deficiency of established command and control, lapses in communication, and a lack of diligence by agency personnel,' while also noting that 'the accountability process [was] underway.' Dan Bongino - who now serves as Deputy Director of the FBI and formerly spent 11 years as a Secret Service agent - said last year that Butler was a 'apocalyptic security failure' and called for a full house-cleaning of the upper leadership ranks in the Secret Services D.C. headquarters. But in the aftermath, the agency was hounded with questions about security failures and Director Kimberly Cheatle was forced to resign. Now it has emerged that six agents have since been suspended for their actions that day, ABC News confirmed. Those who were suspended ranged from supervisors to line agents, and they all had the right to appeal their suspensions, which ranged from 10 to 42 days without pay or benefits, according to CBS News. 'We are laser focused on fixing the root cause of the problem,' Matt Quinn, the Secret Service deputy director told CBS. All of the agents have now been suspended according to federally-mandated procedures, Quinn said. He also noted that the Secret Service has introduced a new fleet of military-grade drones and set up new mobile command posts that allow agents to communicate over radio directly with local law enforcement - which was widely seen as one of the major issues with the Secret Service's response to the shooting. Witnesses have explained that having multiple command stations during the July event led to confusion and a scattered response. Dan Bongino (pictured with Trump) - who now serves as Deputy Director of the FBI and formerly spent 11 years as a Secret Service agent - said last year that Butler was a 'apocalyptic security failure' A damning 180-page report released by a House of Representatives task force in December even concluded that the shooting was 'preventable and should not have happened.' It noted that Acting Secret Service Director Ronald Rowe testified that the agency had been operating under the assumption that local law enforcement was going to secure the AGR complex, from where Crooks fired off eight shots. The report also included a firsthand account from a Butler cop who spotted Crooks and yelled out that he has a gun - though there is no evidence to suggest the message reached the Secret Service security detail surrounding Trump before Crooks began firing. It concluded that federal, state and local law enforcement officers 'could have engaged Thomas Matthew Crooks at several pivotal moments' as his behavior became increasingly suspicious.'
