Sundowns unveil home and away kits for 2025/26 season
Mamelodi Sundowns have unveiled their new PUMA home and away kits for the 2025/26 season.
The home kit is in the traditional yellow shirt, blue shorts and white socks, while the alternate kit features a white shirt, white pants and blue socks.

'The new look Sundowns kit is a celebration of the style of play that has earned this amazing Club eight PSL titles in a row, a Champions League star and many other accolades not least of which was their participation in the FIFA Club World Cup where that skill and style was on display for all to see,' said Brett Bellinger, PUMA SA Marketing Director.
'The kit pays homage to this in a beautiful way with the underarm print using the unique, almost kaleidoscopic pattern inspired by traditional hand-dyed fabric combined with traced movements from analysing Mamelodi Sundowns games.'
Sundowns spokesperson Tiyani Mabunda said the new jersey reflects the club's unique style of play, the shoe-shine-and-piano.
'This jersey reflects our identity and unique style of play, shoe-shine-and-piano, which was on display at the FIFA Club World Cup. Our style of play which is synonymous with patient build up play, style and flair, is what our supporters are accustomed to. Whenever Masandawana raise their hands when they sing or wave to push on the players, they will display our identity which will remind the players of what the supporters expect of them,' said Mabunda.
Sundowns will begin their 2025/26 season with an MTN8 quarter final clash against Richards Bay at home at the Lucas Moripe Stadium next Sunday.

They showed resilience in fending off an early title challenge from the Buccaneers who eventually finished second. 'Mostly, I dedicate this trophy to the players, but it also means that there is the staff of the club who also allow the Coach and the players to perform,' he concluded. 'I see this award belonging to a big group of people despite me being the face of it. It's also an honour which makes the club believe that they made a good choice on the coach. 'So I'm happy and I dedicate it to the management of the club. Last but not least, I dedicate it to my family because they supported me throughout the years and they believe in me a lot. Winning this trophy is also a moment that we're all together to celebrate me and my career.' His composed finish against the Buccaneers — where defenders looked on rather than intervening — was undoubtedly elegant. However, Fawaaz Basadien's stunning long-range strike from inside his own half arguably deserved the nod. Goals of that nature are rare in the PSL and far more difficult to execute, which could have tipped the scale in his favour. The Coach of the Season award was another hotly contested category. On paper, Miguel Cardoso appeared the logical choice, having guided Sundowns to the title. Although he only took charge midway through the campaign — replacing Manqoba Mngqithi — the impact he made was undeniable. He inherited a finely tuned side and steered them through a gruelling campaign, effectively ending the Sea Robbers' title push in the final stretch. Standing in his way was Jose Riveiro, who had a strong case of his own. Despite falling 13 points short of the title, he kept the Buccaneers competitive across all fronts. His tactical acumen and consistency were evident throughout the campaign. Still, Cardoso's success in solidifying Sundowns' grip on the league and leading them to a commanding finish was enough to tilt the balance in his favour. Pirates and Sundowns shared the spotlight on the night. Sipho Chaine edged out Ronwen Williams and Magesi FC's Elvis Chipezeze to claim Goalkeeper of the Season. Williams might have mounted a stronger challenge had injury setbacks not disrupted his campaign. Another Pirates player, Nkosinathi Sibisi, rightfully took home Defender of the Season. His leadership and consistency stood out, especially as he partnered with a rotating cast of centre-backs throughout the campaign. His experience and adaptability were vital to the club's defensive stability and fully justified the recognition. However, the most debatable decision of the night came in the Midfielder of the Season category. Makhehlene Makhaula had an excellent campaign for the Buccaneers — especially in terms of breaking up play and winning possession. Yet Teboho Mokoena arguably had the edge. Mokoena not only posted superior statistical returns but also brought balance to Sundowns' midfield. His contributions at both ends of the pitch, including set-piece delivery and goal threat, made him a more complete presence. Makhaula's work ethic was undeniable, but his limited progressive play raises questions about how the final decision was reached.

Mamelodi Sundowns set to offload expensive midfield star
Mamelodi Sundowns have ramped up efforts to trim their bloated squad as preparations intensify ahead of the new Premiership season. With a string of departures already confirmed, a source now suggests the club is finalising decisions on players whose futures remain uncertain. Among those under scrutiny is Argentine midfielder Matias Esquivel, who trained with the squad during pre-season. The source revealed that the 26-year-old may not feature in the Brazilians' plans for the campaign ahead. While Sundowns have already parted ways with the likes of Sipho Mbule, Rivaldo Coetzee, and Lebohang Maboe, Esquivel's situation presents a financial complication. Yes, they are looking at other options but going back to Talleres Cordoba is a possibility because they already know him,' the source added. 'But the club is believed to be looking at different options to loan him out as part of the squad downsizing this season.' Sundowns' aggressive approach to cutting their squad signals a major tactical shift. That's likely aimed at increasing squad efficiency and freeing up space for new arrivals.
