'Baton Attacker' Breaks Her Silence After Injuring Opponent
The incident occurred during the 4×200 meter relay at the VHSL Class 3 State Indoor Championships at Liberty University on Friday. During the second leg of the race, Brookville High School junior Kaelen Tucker attempted to cut into lane one during a battle for second place. As Tucker pulled out in front, she was struck in the head from behind by her opponent's baton.
'When we get onto the other side of the track we have to cross to lane one, you have to merge in, and as I was coming up on her she kind of made me get cut off a little bit so I backed away,' Tucker explained to WSLS.
'When we got to the curve she kept bumping me in my arm and when we got off the curve I finally passed her and that was when she hit me with the baton.'
The video of the incident seems to show her opponent, Alaila Everett, winding up and striking Tucker in the head with her baton, and the strike was so strong that a doctor later diagnosed her with a concussion and a possible skull fracture. However, Everett is insisting that it was all an accident.
"I know my intentions and I would never hit someone on purpose," Everett told Wavy.com.
Everett claimed that she struck Tucker accidentally after she lost her balance.
"After a couple times of hitting her, my baton got stuck behind her back like this, and it rolled up her back. I lost my balance and, when I pumped my arms again, she got hit," she said.
Everett says that she has since received death threats and been called racial slurs as a result of the incident.
"They are assuming my character, calling me ghetto and racial slurs, death threats," she said. "All of this off of a nine-second video."
After the race, Tucker expressed frustration that she did not receive an apology from Everett or anyone else. Everett claims she has tried to reach out to Tucker aftewards but has been blocked on social media.

Accused carjacker shot by police in Everett after wild ride in garbage truck to be arraigned Monday
Admilson Vizcaino, the man who was shot by police after they say he carjacked a trash truck outside a casino in Everett, Massachusetts last week, will be arraigned Monday. Vizcaino will appear via Zoom from his hospital bed for the hearing in Malden District Court. You can watch it live on CBS News Boston at 11 a.m. in the video above. Vizcaino, 33, is charged with four counts of attempted armed carjacking, two counts of armed carjacking, and assault by means of a dangerous weapon, following a chaotic series of events last Thursday. Police initially received a call about Vizcaino acting erratically at a gas station in Medford. Stoneham police later attempted to pull him over, but about an hour later, he was seen on surveillance video allegedly shoplifting inside a 7-11 in Billerica. He's accused of taking a gas can, chips, and some soda from the store before leaving in a black SUV. A family member tipped officers off that he was in Malden. Police were able to follow Vizcaino until he entered Everett. About an hour later, he had crashed the SUV outside of the Encore Casino in Everett. Police said he tried to use a knife to carjack several cars before Massachusetts State Police troopers tried to tase him. Vizcaino then attempted to carjack a Republic Services trash truck by removing the driver in the middle of Broadway, authorities said. Police shot him and rescued the driver from the truck before they said Vizcaino took off in it. The truck hit light posts and fire hydrants before riding over police stop sticks in Charlestown and crashing on the Alford Street Bridge. The crash caused fuel to leak from the truck and the cleanup backed up traffic for several hours. Vizcaino was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. WBZ-TV's I-Team obtained court documents that show that Vizcaino had previous run-ins with the law. He was arrested at 16 years old in 2008 with four other suspects for the stabbing of a teen in Dorchester. He was given immunity to testify as an eyewitness but refused. Beth Germano contributed to this report.

Surveillance video shows Everett carjacking suspect before alleged crime spree
Video shows a carjacking suspect before he allegedly went on a chaotic crime spree that ended with him being shot by police and crashing a trash truck. Admilson Vizcaino, 33, is seen on surveillance video shirtless inside a Billerica 7-Eleven around 2:00 p.m. Thursday afternoon, in the midst of a chaotic multitown chase for him. He allegedly stole a gas can, some soda and chips from the store, and outside seems to casually load the items into a SUV. All this after having just left a Medford gas station where he was reported to be acting erratically. Police received 911 calls, just missing him along the way. An hour later, police caught up with him outside the Encore Casino in Everett after crashing his SUV. He allegedly tried to carjack multiple nearby vehicles while wielding a knife. State police troopers used a Taser to try and subdue him. He then tried to get the driver of a Republic Services trash truck out of the seat right in the middle of Broadway. An Everett police officer shot Vizcaino and was able to pull the driver from the trash truck. The now injured Vizcaino took off in the trash truck, crashing into fire hydrants and light poles as he tried to make his escape. He careened a half mile down the street into Charlestown before stop sticks caused him to crash on the Alford Street Bridge, all in front of stunned drivers and bringing afternoon traffic to a standstill. Investigators said they found four gas containers in his SUV and a cigarette lighter in the road. Vizcaino has had run-ins with the law before. According to court documents obtained by the I-Team, in 2008 at the age of 16, he was one of five suspects arrested in the fatal stabbing of another teen in Dorchester the year before. He was an eyewitness and given immunity to testify but he refused to do so. After suffering gunshot wounds in Everett Thursday, Vizcaino remains hospitalized in critical condition. Vizcaino faces multiple charges including four counts of attempted armed carjacking, two counts of armed carjacking and assault by means of a dangerous weapon.
