Perkins delivers winning hit as Brewers rally to beat Marlins 3-2 and avoid sweep
Milwaukee erased a 2-1 deficit by scoring in each of the final two innings to avoid the sweep. The Brewers have been swept just once, in their opening series of the season at Yankee Stadium.
The Brewers remain tied for first in the NL Central with the Chicago Cubs, who come to Milwaukee for a three-game series beginning Monday. The Cubs beat the Chicago White Sox 5-4 on Sunday.
Eric Haase hit a one-out bloop single to center off Cade Gibson (2-5) in the ninth and advanced to third on Brice Turang's broken-bat double down the left-field line. Gibson intentionally walked Jackson Chourio to load the bases.
Perkins then lofted a 3-2 pitch well over the head of center fielder Dane Myers.
Perkins had scored the tying run in the eighth after entering as a pinch-runner, stealing second and coming home on Andrew Vaughn's two-out, ground-rule double off Ronny Henriquez.
Milwaukee's Trevor Megill (3-2) allowed a two-out double to Javier Sanoja in the top of the ninth, but right fielder Isaac Colins made a running catch of a fly ball to end the threat.
Key moment
Miami led 2-1 and had runners on first and second with one out in the seventh when the Marlins ran themselves out of an inning. Aaron Ashby picked off Myers at second base. Ashby then caught Xavier Edwards leaning off first and threw to Vaughn, who threw Edwards out at second. Edwards initially was ruled safe, but a replay review overturned the call.
Key stat
Chourio doubled twice and extended his hitting streak to 20 games. Paul Molitor had a franchise-record, 39-game hitting streak in 1987. The only other Brewers to have hitting streaks of at least 20 games are Davey May in 1973, Ryan Braun in 2011, Cecil Cooper in 1980 and Corey Hart in 2007 and 2010.
Up next
Miami heads to St. Louis for a three-game series. The scheduled starting pitchers for Monday's series opener are Miami's Edward Cabrera (4-4, 3.48 ERA) and St. Louis' Andre Pallante (5-7, 4.91 ERA).
The Brewers-Cubs series starts Monday with an All-Star pitching matchup featuring Milwaukee's Jacob Misiorowski (4-1, 2.45) and Chicago's Matthew Boyd (11-3, 2.20).

As Hurricanes prepare for 2025 season, look for offensive line to ‘set the tone'
Francis Mauigoa understands what's expected of him and the rest of the Miami Hurricanes' offensive line. They're the veterans of this team. They're the most established unit on a team that is looking to take yet another step forward this season. 'The O-line, we like to set the tone for the whole team,' Mauigoa said last week at the Atlantic Coast Conference's Football Kickoff in Charlotte, North Carolina. 'We like to set the standard. [Offensive line] coach [Alex] Mirabal always pounds on us every day to set the standard for the team, and we're the type of guys that go out there and try to dominate everybody.' That's the standard that has to be set if Miami wants to build on its 10-win season in 2024, the first time UM has won double-digit games since 2017. Coach Mario Cristobal always harps that the game begins in the trenches, and the Hurricanes have done their part through recruiting and development to make sure that their offensive line is among the best in the country. That should be the case this season. In addition to Mauigoa at right tackle, the Hurricanes return three other starters from last season in left tackle Markel Bell (who filled in early when Jalen Rivers was hurt and continued getting playing time when Rivers returned), left guard Matt McCoy and right guard Anez Cooper. Miami also added veteran center James Brockermeyer through the transfer portal. Combined, the Hurricanes' projected starting offensive line has a combined 85 starts. 'Any time you have an offensive line that can perform at a high level, you're going to have a chance to win a lot of games,' Cristobal said, 'and we feel like we are going to be able to field an offensive line that could play eight to 10 guys, and maybe even more, of winning football. We're going to find out during camp. We cross train everybody so everybody's getting reps on the other side as well. We have multiple guys taking reps at center, but we're big and we're physical. Our strength room numbers have been off the charts. It's a hungry, driven group and they know that we are led by the trenches.' And inside that group, Mauigoa is expected to lead the charge individually. The right tackle has been named a preseason All-American by the Walter Camp Football Foundation (first team), Athlon (first team), Lindy's Sports (second team) and Phil Steele (third team). According to Pro Football Focus, Mauigoa was the only tackle at the Football Bowl Subdivision level last season with two or fewer knockdowns allowed on 500-plus pass-blocking snaps. He made all-around strides in his game, allowing just one sack last year compared to five as a freshman and allowing fewer quarterback pressures (19 in 2024 compared to 23 in 2023). Mauigoa also committed just five penalties in 2024 compared to nine his freshman season. 'We strive to get better every year,' Mauigoa said. 'Every offseason, we work to get better at something. We practice hard every time that we get a chance to. We're just trying to be the best that we can be. The stats don't even matter to us. It's being able to be out there and being able to be the best you can be, not only as a player but as a character as well.'

Current 2025-26 OKC Thunder depth chart after offseason moves
Don't fix what's not broken. That's the Oklahoma City Thunder's unofficial offseason motto. After winning the NBA championship, they have the rare opportunity to bring back basically the same roster — minus some changes at the bottom of the depth chart. The Thunder will enter the 2025-26 season at the top of the food chain. The NBA champions will hope to be a rare repeat winner. They spent the offseason locking down Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Jalen Williams and Chet Holmgren to long-term deals. As the Thunder continue to enjoy their summer, they're only a few months away from defending their top spot. Let's project what OKC's depth chart will look like as it hopes to be a rare repeat winner: Point guard Starter: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Depth: Ajay Mitchell, Nikola Topic This is easy. Gilgeous-Alexander is the Thunder's franchise player. He had one of the greatest individual seasons ever. He brought home the MVP, Conference Finals MVP and NBA Finals MVP trophies. He also won the scoring title. The 27-year-old is one of the best players in the league. OKC's title window starts and stops with him. Meanwhile, the backup point guard minutes are up for grabs. Mitchell looks more ready to contribute than Topic right now, though. The former could have the lead thanks to his experience. But Topic's potential is tantalizing for sure. Shooting guard Starter: Lu Dort Depth: Cason Wallace, Alex Caruso, Isaiah Joe One of the longest-tenured Thunder players, Dort is fresh off a career season. He was named to his first All-Defensive Team. He's one of the league's best one-on-one defenders. The undrafted player has also developed into a legitimate outside shooter. He's been a fixture in the starting lineup for years now. Behind him is the Thunder's deepest position group. Caruso and Wallace make up OKC's best seven players. Both played vital roles in their championship run last year. They'd easily be starters anywhere else, too. Caruso is one of the NBA's best defenders and has the merits to back it up. Wallace is ascending to that level and has been somebody they lean on to start when they go small. And then there's Joe. He's carved out a nice role on the Thunder. Even with an inconsistent playoff run, the sharpshooter has been solid depth for OKC over the years. He's a solid 3-point shooter who benefits from off-ball movement. Small forward Starter: Jalen Williams Depth: Aaron Wiggins, Ousmane Dieng Another easy choice. Williams ascended into one of the NBA's best players last season. He had a career year as a first-time All-Star, All-NBA and All-Defense Team member. The 24-year-old is a walking efficient 20-plus points and an underrated defender. His trajectory should continue to rise after he stepped up as OKC's second-best player in the playoffs. Wiggins is a solid bench player. He's developed into one of the Thunder's best success stories. He can create off the dribble and be a spot-up guy. The microwave scorer can get into a groove. Dieng is still young enough to believe in his potential, but time is running out. Power forward Starter: Chet Holmgren Depth: Kenrich Williams, Brooks Barnhizer (two-way) Another easy choice. Injuries have limited Holmgren to playing only about half of his available games in his first three seasons. That said, he's easily the Thunder's best defender when he's on the floor. The 23-year-old has shown promise as a scorer over the years. But what he brings as a rim protector is worthy enough of the contract extension he signed this past summer. Another player who's been in OKC for a while, Williams has been a veteran for the Thunder. When he gets the chance to play, he shows why he's such a valuable piece on a team-friendly contract. He can defend and shoot from the outside. Center Starter: Isaiah Hartenstein Depth: Jaylin Williams, Thomas Sorber, Branden Carlson (two-way) As was said at the top — don't fix what's not broken. The Thunder have four permanent starters with a fifth spot up for grabs. Sometimes it's Hartenstein, other times it's somebody like Cason Wallace. But the Thunder stuck with the double-big lineup throughout the playoffs, sans a few NBA Finals games. It was the starting lineup that won them both of their Game 7s. It should be the same starting lineup to open next season. Williams is fresh off a new deal. He's developed nicely into an offensive weapon. He can space the floor and facilitate. Three triple-doubles last season prove that. Then there's Sorber. The 19-year-old won't be expected to do much in his rookie season. He'll be asked to be Hartenstein's eventual long-term replacement.

Lionel Messi, wife have Coldplay ‘kiss cam' concert moment after controversial MLS suspension
Lionel Messi and his wife, Antonela Roccuzzo, had a scandal free Jumbotron experience at a Coldplay concert on Sunday after his MLS suspension. The Inter Miami captain — who served a one-match ban by MLS against FC Cincinnati on Saturday for missing last week's All-Star Game in Austin, Texas — and the model took in the concert with their three children from at private suite at Hard Rock Stadium, as seen in Instagram photos the couple shared. Messi, 38, and Roccuzzo, 37, were all smiles and greeted with cheers from the crowd in Miami as they were blasted on Coldplay's now famous 'kiss cam.' Advertisement It went a lot smoother than the viral 'kiss cam' moment at Coldplay's concert at Gillette Stadium a few weeks prior, when former Astronomer CEO Andy Byron was caught on camera with Kristin Cabot, the company's HR executive, on July 16. Both Bryon and Cabot, who are married, resigned from their respective positions after the public fallout from the video — which showed them ducking and hiding from the camera as Coldplay singer Chris Martin speculated 'they're having an affair' on the mic. Inter Miami said it was their decision, and not the players', to have them sit out of the All-Star Game last Wednesday due to health. The team informed the league that Messi and Alba would not attend the All-Star Game after playing nine matches in the past 36 days. MLS commissioner Don Garber said the league 'take a hard look at the policy moving forward,' adding 'I'm committed to working with our players to determine how the rule should evolve.'
