Countdown to Kickoff: Emmett Mosley V
The Texas portal class was tons of defensive tackles, special teamers and a single WR that was added in the spring window. That guy is Emmett Mosley V, coming in from Stanford after a very productive freshman season. He is joined by another transfer pass catcher in Jack Endries, but Mosley steps into a room with a multitude of opportunities. How will he fit?
2024 Stats: 48 catches, 525 yards(10.9 yards/catch), 6 TDs
Mosley was a very productive freshman for the Cardinal, only trailing Elic Ayomanor in receiving yards. Ayomanor has since moved onto the NFL and the Longhorns were able to snag Mosley late in the process. He fits into the Texas offense perfectly. Last year, he did a ton of his damage after the catch, very comfortable catching screens and making something happen after the catch. That doesn't take away from his 50/50 ball ability. At 6'2', 205 lbs, he is also a massive plus blocker outside, which is a must in the Texas offense.
The next question is can they get Matthew Golden production from him? The good news is I don't think they will need it, with Wingo and Moore setting up to lead the way, but Mosley could be a massive factor. He figures to be a starter come Week 1, and while much of the Buckeyes attention will be paid to Ryan Wingo, Mosley could be set up for success early and often.
While only playing in nine games a year ago, he was able to go over 100 yards twice. He truly broke out in the Louisville game, where he caught 13 passes for 168 yards and 3 scores. He totaled 332 of his 525 yards and 5 of his 6 TDs in the final three games of the season. He has already gotten rave reviews early in fall camp as he continues to get comfortable in the offense.
Stanford transfer WR Emmett Mosley went through his first practice for Texas today taking second-team reps. Expect him to help the perimeter blocking for the Longhorns in addition to his receiving skills. #HookEm pic.twitter.com/RWj3eJe2Z8
Sarkisian and company have always approached the transfer portal selectively. They will go all in on a position of need, but are very specific about adding to rooms they already like. This staff seems to feel very confident in the young WR core they have, but the addition of Mosley seems to be the perfect fit into this room.
Only time will tell how impactful of an addition Mosley will be, but all signs point positively. His strengths fit the Texas offense very well, he fills a perceived hole in red zone 50/50 balls and brings more experience(while still young) into a room that needs it. As important of an addition Mosley could be, the guy we will get to tomorrow figures to be even more important. Jack Endries comes in as one of the top TEs in the country and figures to fill the Gunnar Helm void in the Texas offense. We will talk about why he is the perfect fit to do that tomorrow.

JAY-Z, Roc Nation Call Out Jerry Jones For 'False Statement'
JAY-Z, Roc Nation Call Out Jerry Jones For 'False Statement' originally appeared on The Spun. The fallout from some of Jerry Jones' most recent comments continued into Sunday after the Cowboys owner took aim at Dez Bryant, JAY-Z and Roc Nation for being the reason why he hasn't wanted Micah Parsons' agent involved in the linebacker's contract negotiations this offseason. Speaking to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram at Dallas' training camp, Jones called out the former star receiver and his representation for how they allegedly handled business back in 2015. "[W]hen we have a problem with the player, the agent is nowhere to be found," the 82-year-old claimed. "JAY-Z said that Dez would make all meetings. JAY-Z and I negotiated the contract, spent hours. He said, 'Anybody in my organization is on time.' He said, 'My office used to be on the street corner, and I've always been early. So, they will be on time.' And what did I say? I said, 'I'm going to call you [when I have a problem].' He quit taking my call." That statement not only led to an aggressive response from Bryant on X. Who said: "JERRY JONES I DONT THINK ITS SMART TO MENTION MY NAME I KEPT QUIET ABOUT A LOT OF UNFAIR S—T.. ON SOME G S—T… WE CAN HAVE STORY TIME IF THATS WHAT WE ARE DOING." But it also received an official statement from JAY-Z and Roc Nation who shot down Jones' recollection as both "false" and "comical." "In 2015, at the 21 Club, on a napkin, Jerry Jones, Juan Perez, Shawn 'JAY-Z' Carter, and Stephen Jones negotiated a five-year, $70 million deal, which included a $45 million guarantee and a $20 million signing bonus for Dez Bryant. At the time, it was the second-largest contract for a wide receiver in NFL history," the sports agency said. "The claim that Mr. Carter or Roc Nation representatives did not return a call from Jerry Jones is not only a false statement, but it's also a comical one." If Jerry's goal for the summer was to be the loudest team possible he certainly accomplished that. But it doesn't seem to be bringing him any closer to the Super Bowl he's (supposedly) been longing for for the last 30 Roc Nation Call Out Jerry Jones For 'False Statement' first appeared on The Spun on Aug 3, 2025 This story was originally reported by The Spun on Aug 3, 2025, where it first appeared.

Julio Rodriguez homers for fourth straight 20-20 season as Mariners beat Rangers
SEATTLE (AP) — Julio Rodriguez homered to become the first player in major league history with 20 or more home runs and 20 or more stolen bases in each of his first four seasons, and the Seattle Mariners beat the Texas Rangers 5-4 on Sunday. Rodriguez hit a two-run shot in the third inning — his 100th career homer — and the slugging and speedy center fielder also added his 21st stolen base of the season after singling in the fifth inning. Jorge Polanco added a solo shot in the second and shortstop J.P. Crawford smacked a two-run blast in the fourth against Rangers starter Jacob deGrom (10-4), who became the fastest pitcher in major league history to reach 1,800 career strikeouts by games and innings on Sunday. The Rangers kept things close by pushing across three runs against Mariners starter Logan Evans (5-4), but only tallied one run against the Mariners bullpen before closer Andrés Muñoz locked down his 25th save of the season. Key moment Sam Haggerty pinch-ran for Joc Pederson with one out in the ninth inning and attempted to steal second base while Wyatt Langford was batting. Haggerty was initially ruled safe, but following a replay review was ruled out. Langford struck out swinging immediately after to end the inning. Key stat Sunday was the first time deGrom has allowed three home runs or more in a game since Sept. 30, 2022, against the Atlanta Braves while he was a member of the New York Mets. Up next Rangers left-hander Patrick Corbin (6-7, 3.78) starts Monday evening against the New York Yankees. The Mariners are off Monday, but right-hander Bryan Woo (8-6, 3.11) will start against the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday. ___ AP MLB:

Malik Muhammad is ready to build on his career year
Malik Muhammad has high expectation for his junior season During the 2024 campaign, the Texas Longhorns got contributions from everyone on the roster. As they fell two wins short of a national title, their defense was a strength. One player who exceeded expectations was Malik Muhammad. The talented defensive back is now a key veteran who is motivated to prove that last year was no fluke. In his second season in the Forty Acres, Muhammad was a human highlight reel. He set career highs in total tackles with 36 and pass deflections with eight. Regardless of the matchup, the Texas native made life difficult for quarterbacks. Due to his play, the Longhorns' star has earned national recognition. Last week, Muhammad, along with Michael Taaffe, landed on the Jim Thorpe Award preseason watch list. Each year, the award is given to the best defensive back in the nation. It showed just how far the South Oak Cliff High School product has come. That was the first time he landed on the watch list. While Muhammad faces plenty of competition, he showed just how good he can be during his sophomore campaign. For the first time in his career, he started all 16 games in one of the most competitive conferences in the country. For the Longhorns to reach their ultimate goal, they will need Muhammad to build on his performance from last year. Now that Muhammad has solidified his spot on the roster, he will be one of Sarkisian's primary weapons on defense. Even though he only has one career interception, he has shown a knack for being in the right place at the right time. With a stacked pass rush in front of him, Texas is not a team many people want to face. In just a few weeks, the wait for the Longhorns' return will end. They open their season against the defending champs, Ohio State, on August 30th. That represents a perfect opportunity for Muhammad to get off to a hot start against elite competition.
