Sometimes the unexpected things in life are the best, especially when animal duos are concerned. Recently, a massive bear was caught on video roaming around in a rural area outside of Los Angeles with an unexpected friend.
The footage, from a police cruiser, showed this gentle giant with none other than a tiny coyote by their side. It was both an incredibly cute incident and a heartwarming story of unlikely friendship.
According to the social media video, which was posted by the LA County Sheriff's Department, a bear and a coyote are shown in the middle of the night, 'hanging out and developing a close bond.'
According to this video, the sheriff's station captioned the post: 'When you and your coworker finally take that lunchtime walk you've been talking about all week.'A separate report stated that this footage came about as a result of a service call to the Altadena Sheriff's Station dispatch, when a resident spotted the massive bear in their area and requested help in getting the creature to move along.
When the deputies arrived on the scene, they quickly realized that this massive bear had a little companion with them, the coyote.
That same report noted that it is actually not that uncommon to see coyotes tagging along with bears. Oftentimes, bears will scrape up extra food scraps that coyotes would not have been able to get to on their own otherwise.
It's also worth noting that last year, the Altadena area was ravaged by wildfires, which resulted in much natural habitat loss for these creatures. So, this bear and coyote traveling together could very well be a matter of survival.
They could very well do better together than they would without each other. Hopefully, they are helping each other survive and enjoying a fulfilling companionship. At the very least, we got one heck of a really cute video out of it!

Runway now has its sights on the video game industry with its new generative AI platform
The AI startup Runway, which recently partnered with AMC Networks, is now trying to break into the gaming industry. The company has plans to launch its latest platform, called Game Worlds, next week, according to The Verge . The new tool lets Runway users create something akin to an interactive text-based game that can generate text and images from AI. Even though Game Worlds can only produce basic designs for now, the company's CEO, Cristóbal Valenzuela, is hoping this will be the first step towards more AI use in the gaming industry. Valenzuela told The Verge that "generated video games are coming later this year," adding that Runway is looking to partner with video game companies, which will be able to use the company's AI tools, while it gets access to video game datasets to train its AI on. However, the use of AI in video games has already drawn a lot of criticism from industry professionals, even leading to the SAG-AFTRA union striking against video game companies using its members' likenesses and voices to train AI. Runway has faced its own controversy for reportedly training its AI on YouTube videos and pirated movies despite being against the video platform's terms. Still, Runway is looking to replicate the similar success it's had with major TV and film studios. In the AMC deal, the AI company would help create promotional materials and help "accelerate pre-visualization during development." Before AMC, Runway secured a partnership with Lionsgate to provide its AI for the studio's "pre-production and post-production process." As for the gaming world, Runway wouldn't be the first to introduce generative AI since the industry has seen other examples already, like Ubisoft using a tool called Ghostwriter to create video game dialogue.

Jake Paul drops $39 million on Georgia's iconic Southlands ranch
Professional boxer, social media influencer and content creator Jake Paul has bought the sprawling Southlands property just south of Bainbridge, Georgia, for $39 million. Paul, during an interview on the "The Iced Coffee Hour" podcast in mid-June, said he's been wanting to purchase a ranch for the last 15 years, according to 'It's kind of been my dream and why I work so hard," said Paul. He added the 5,746-acre estate was '… a little bit bigger than what I wanted, but when I got there, I was like, 'I have to buy this.' ' Paul, 28, is known for his brash commentary on YouTube and other social media platforms and co-stars alongside his brother, Logan Paul, in "Paul American," a reality show that premiered in March 2025 and offers a peek into their family life outside of the boxing and wrestling ring. The 5,653-acre property surrounds the eastern shore of Lake Seminole, just above the Florida panhandle, and was listed in October 2024 for $42.5 million. It features a "sport huntsman's paradise with an abundance of bobwhite wild quail, turkey and whitetail deer. It also includes a 20-acre fishing pond and a 30-acre duck pond," as previously reported in the Tallahassee Democrat, part of the USA TODAY Network. Jon Kohler, an expert in large plantation properties in the southeast, said there are few investments that can build "long-term wealth like owning a property such as Southlands." "While we can see the financial appreciation, what only the seller can measure is the immense intrinsic value – the lifestyle, the experiences, the memories. That's the most important kind of wealth. And that's what Southlands will create for Jake, his family, and his friends," said Kohler, in a statement. In a Facebook post announcing the purchase, Kohler described the property as "one of America's most iconic sporting properties." "From its roots with Herbert Stoddard, a legacy dating back to 1937, to its years as International Paper's flagship property, Southlands has long been a crown jewel of American land stewardship – and with Jake Paul's passion and commitment to conservation, its future has never been brighter," the post said.
