Muslim Council Elders Highlight AI Ethics at Abu Dhabi Book Fair

Abu Dhabi: As part of its cultural and intellectual programme at the 34th edition of the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair, the Muslim Council of Elders' pavilion hosted a seminar titled 'Ethics of Artificial Intelligence Usage,' presented by Dr. Mohamed Abdulzaher, CEO of the Artificial Intelligence Journalism Foundation for Research and Forecasting (AIJRF).
According to Bahrain News Agency, Dr. Abdulzaher emphasised the urgent need to establish clear ethical and legislative frameworks for AI technologies, tools, and applications to ensure responsible use and safeguard individual privacy. Dr. Abdulzaher noted that AI tools like ChatGPT and Gemini represent just a drop in the ocean of AI advancements, explaining that the number of AI-based applications surged from approximately 35,000 in 2018 to 50,000 in 2024, with projections exceeding one million applications by the end of 2025.
He further clarified the critical distinction between a 'tool' and an 'application,' pointing out that tools such as ChatGPT and Gemini serve as implementation mechanisms, while applications refer to integrated AI systems functioning within complete environments. Given this rapid expansion, he stressed the necessity of developing robust ethical standards, warning that unregulated usage could pose risks to individuals and society, particularly as companies race to offer faster and more precise AI-powered services.
The AIJRF's CEO also called on journalists and media institutions to assume their responsibility by disclosing when AI is used in content production. The Muslim Council of Elders' pavilion at the 2025 Abu Dhabi International Book Fair features more than 250 diverse intellectual and cultural publications, including a selection of the latest releases from Al-Hokama Publishing.

Mark Zuckerberg Announces the End of Mobile Phones

For nearly thirty years, we've lived with our faces glued to small screens—thumbs incessantly swiping, notifications pinging at all hours. But according to Mark Zuckerberg, that era may soon be in the rear-view mirror. In a recent interview, the Meta CEO predicted that wearable computing will eclipse smartphones as our primary portal to the digital world. 'People want computing to be more natural and social,' he explained, 'so you can interact with the people around you—this will likely be the next major platform after phones.' I'll admit, I was sceptical at first. Last Christmas, I gifted my partner a sleek new handset—only to watch her tuck it into her bag for the entire family walk. There's no denying we crave convenience, but could we really trade our devices for something we wear over our eyes? The idea of strapping a pair of high-tech spectacles to your face once belonged in sci-fi novels. Yet huge investments by Meta and Apple—whose Vision Pro received rapturous initial reviews—suggest this is more than a passing fad. These next-gen glasses promise augmented reality (AR) overlays, real-time data streams and hands-free navigation, effectively turning your surroundings into an immersive interface.³ Zuckerberg is so confident that he forecasts a full smartphone phase-out by the 2030s. He imagines a day when your phone spends more time tucked away in your pocket than lighting up your palm. Early adopters are already experimenting with prototypes. In San Francisco cafés, professionals dictate messages through voice commands on their frames, and travellers use built-in maps to navigate busy terminals without glancing down at a screen. As these devices slim down and battery lives improve, the line between gadget and accessory will blur even further. Whether you're ready to embrace your new set of specs or simply curious about what's next, one thing's clear: the smartphone's days as our go-to gadget may be numbered. And as Zuckerberg says, 'The real magic happens when technology fades into the background—let the world become your screen.' Also read: What The World Is Asking ChatGPT In 2025

Tesla to offer shareholders chance to invest in xAI: Musk

States Tesla will give its shareholders the option to invest in artificial intelligence startup xAI, billionaire owner of both companies Elon Musk said on his social media platform X. 'It's not up to me... We will have a shareholder vote on the matter,' Musk said in response to a social media user suggesting that the electric car maker take a stake in xAI, which recently acquired X. 'If it was up to me, Tesla would have invested in xAI long ago,' the world's richest man said. According to the Wall Street Journal, another company controlled by Elon Musk, SpaceX, will invest $2 billion into xAI as part of its $5 billion capital raise. Responding to an X user who cited the WSJ's news story, Musk said that 'it would be great' but would depend on 'board and shareholder approval.' Since the launch of xAI -- which developed the generative AI assistant Grok -- Musk has floated the potential synergies between the AI start-up and his two crown jewels, SpaceX and Tesla. According to the Financial Times, the businessman is seeking a valuation between $170 and $200 billion for xAI in a new funding round. Launched in July 2023, xAI is hoping to catch up with its major generative AI competitors, OpenAI (ChatGPT), Anthropic (Claude) and Google (Gemini). The start-up has invested heavily in a gigantic data center in Memphis, Tennessee, which Musk claims will become the 'most powerful AI training system in the world.' He has purchased another plot of land nearby to create more data centers, which are essential for developing and running large-scale artificial intelligence models. According to Bloomb - erg, xAI is costing over a billion dollars every month as it builds upgraded models, with its expenses far exceeding its revenues. xAI's virtual assistant Grok has been the source of a series of controversies. After an update on July 7, some of the chatbot's responses praised Adolf Hitler and suggested that people with Jewish surnames were more likely to spread online hate.

What The World Is Asking ChatGPT In 2025

What are people really asking ChatGPT? With adoption growing, ChatGPT prompts are shifting as consumer behavior evolves. While software development prompts continue to dominate, their share has fallen meaningfully over the past year, reflecting how developers were among the earliest users of ChatGPT for code and other applications. This graphic, via Visual Capitalist's Dorothy Neufeld, shows the most popular ChatGPT prompt categories, based on data from Sensor Tower. Below, we show the leading prompt categories on ChatGPT between March and April 2025: Covering 29% of all prompts, software development is the top category for ChatGPT users. Along with simplifying coding tasks across multiple programming languages, ChatGPT can help debug and automate tasks. A separate study found that early coders (those with under a year of coding experience) were most likely to be AI optimists among coders. History and society prompts were the second-most common type of prompt, at 15% of the total share. Meanwhile, AI and machine learning prompts followed closely behind. Interestingly, the fastest-growing category was economics, finance and tax—with its share jumping more than threefold in a year as users increasingly look for insights on stocks, financial markets, and macroeconomic trends.
