UAE participates in 4th International Conference on Financing for Development in Spain
SEVILLE (WAM) Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation, participated in the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (FFD4), which was held in Seville, Spain, from June 30 to July 3, 2025.The conference was held under the auspices of Pedro Sánchez, Prime Minister of Spain, and António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations.During the event, Al Hashimy underscored the urgency of strengthening partnerships and investing in long-term solutions that bridge humanitarian, development, and peace agendas. She emphasised the UAE's belief that today's challenges demand not just stronger multilateralism, but a reinvention of it: one that is agile, inclusive, and driven by innovation, technology, and meaningful private sector collaboration. In an era of accelerating complexity, this approach is central to delivering real-world impact.Al Hashimy underlined the UAE's unwavering commitment to support vulnerable and crisis-affected regions, particularly low-income countries, and highlighted the UAE's pioneering role in renewable energy financing, food and water security, and health systems.Furthermore, she emphasised that the UAE's development assistance has reached more than 100 countries, with a significant proportion dedicated to key sectors aligned with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.Moreover, in line with its steadfast commitment to global environmental governance, the UAE will co-host the 2026 United Nations Water Conference, alongside the Republic of Senegal, as part of its active engagement on issues of environmental resilience and governance. This conference aims to provide a platform for the international community to focus on accelerating the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 6 and building on COP28's water legacy and the UAE President's launch of the Mohamed bin Zayed Water Initiative.The UAE expressed its support for the adoption of the Seville Declaration that focuses on inclusivity, resilience, and sustainable investment.The UAE remains among the top donors of Official Development Assistance (ODA) as a percentage of Gross National Income (GNI), maintaining an average of 0.7% since the adoption of the SDGs in 2015.
The UAE concluded by affirming its determination to forge forward-looking partnerships that deliver tangible outcomes, stating, 'The question is not only where we are headed – but how we get there. Our path must be efficient, future-focused, and rooted in the needs of the communities we serve.'

UAE attends Srebrenica Genocide day ceremony
The United Arab Emirates took part in the official commemoration marking the 30th anniversary of the Srebrenica Genocide, held on July 11, 2025 in Srebrenica, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Al Hashimy participated in the event following an invitation addressed to President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Recently, Shaikh Al Mahfouz Bin Bayyah, Secretary-General of the Abu Dhabi Forum for Peace participated in the International Day of Commemoration and Dignity of the Victims of the Crime of Genocide, organised by the United Nations at its headquarters in New York, with wide participation from UN and international actors in the field of human rights and the protection of minorities. In a speech he delivered during the dialogue sessions accompanying the celebration, the Secretary-General said that the Emirati model, in building a society of tolerance and love through effective legal, cultural, and educational frameworks, has today become a subject of international praise, reviewing those laws that promote the values of justice and equality and combat hatred. UAE backs Ukraine's rebuilding efforts with new partnerships
The UAE has reaffirmed its strong commitment to Ukraine's recovery efforts at the 2025 Ukraine Recovery Conference, held this week in Rome. Leading the Emirati delegation was Minister of State for International Cooperation, Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy, who highlighted the UAE's continued engagement in Ukraine and emphasised the importance of global platforms like the URC in coordinating long-term support. The UAE also welcomed Poland as the next host for URC 2026, emphasizing the importance of continuity in international cooperation. During the event, the UAE signed new humanitarian initiatives with the Olena Zelenska Foundation, aimed at supporting children affected by the conflict through education, psychosocial care and safe spaces. A trilateral agreement between the UAE, Italy and Ukraine was also announced, focusing on digital transformation, vocational training and empowering women-led businesses. In addition, the UAE and Italy pledged joint support for youth in Ukraine and agreed to co-finance development projects in Africa, including climate-smart coffee production in Ethiopia and sustainable farming in Côte d'Ivoire. On the business front, UAE-based Khazna Data Centres signed a major deal with Italian energy firm Eni to build a 500-megawatt AI data centre campus in Lombardy, powered by low-carbon energy. Al Hashimy also held high-level talks with Italian officials to strengthen investment ties and reaffirm the strong UAE–Italy partnership. Since the beginning of the conflict in 2022, the UAE has played a vital humanitarian role in Ukraine—delivering aid, building housing for orphans, and facilitating over 15 prisoner exchanges. The UAE also remains the only country to sign a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement with Ukraine since the conflict began.
