"If 2 Brothers Can Come Together After 20 Years...": Raj Thackeray To Party
Start preparing for the upcoming Mumbai civic body elections, was the clear message from Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray to the party workers. Mr Thackeray urged the party to remain united and underlined the example of his coming together with his estranged cousin Uddhav Thackeray to drive home the point.
The meeting was held in the backdrop of the state local bodies elections expected to be held later this year.
Addressing his party workers at the Rangsharda Hall in Bandra, Mr Thackeray referred to his reunion with cousin Uddav Thackeray at a public rally in Mumbai after a political separation that spanned two decades. He said, "If we two brothers can come together after twenty years, then why are you fighting among yourselves? Instead of creating any dispute between the workers and office bearers, start preparing for the elections."
Speculations of a possible alliance have remained high as Raj Thackeray and Uddhav Thackeray shared the stage on July 5, at an event, titled 'Awaj Marathicha' (Voice of the Marathi), jointly organised by Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) and the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), marking the first time since 2005 that the two estranged cousins shared a stage.
Raj Thackeray's surprise visit to Matoshree to greet Uddhav on his birthday lend more weight to the alliance buzz.
"Leave it to me with whom to form an alliance. Appropriate instructions will be given at the right time," he said.
He added that the party is the strongest in Mumbai, sources told NDTV.
"This time the power of Mumbai Municipal Corporation will come into our hands," Raj Thackeray said.
While instructing the office bearers on Marathi language row, Raj Thackeray said, "Do not beat anyone without reason, first explain.. If they are ready to learn and speak Marathi, then teach them. But if they show arrogance, then adopt the same attitude in future as well. Do not make videos."
Mr Thackeray asked party workers to check the voter list, move forward with old workers and office bearers as part of election preparations.
MNS Leader Sandeep Deshpande, who was also present at the meeting, said, "Our Leader Raj Thackeray instructed all party workers and office bearers to gear up for BMC election. He also instructed us to focus on the voter list and review it. There are huge expectations from us, and we are ready to deliver."
The coming together of the estranged cousins-turned-comrades has not only enthused cadres of both parties, but it could also give a lifeline to both parties, which are struggling to regain their footing after drubbings in the assembly polls last year.
Uddahv Thackeray's party won 20 seats in the polls while the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena won 57 seats. The MNS failed to win any seats.

"If Cow Statue Can Enter Parliament, Why Not A Living Cow?": Shankaracharya
Mumbai: Shankaracharya Avimukteshwaranand has said that a cow should have been taken into the new Parliament building at Central Vista during its inauguration. "If a statue of a cow can enter Parliament, why can't a living cow be taken inside?" he asked reporters on Sunday. The seer said the Sengol held by Prime Minister Narendra Modi while entering the new Parliament building showed a cow engraved on the sceptre. "A real cow should have also been taken into the building to bestow blessings. If there is a delay, we will take cows from all over the country and bring them to Parliament," he said, adding this would ensure the PM and the building receive blessings of a real cow. The Sengol is installed in the Lower House of the Parliament. He also demanded that the Maharashtra government immediately frame a protocol on cow felicitation. "The state has not yet declared how to honour the cow. It should finalise a protocol so that people can follow it, and also fix penalties for its violation," he said. The Shankaracharya demanded that every assembly constituency in India have a "Ramadham" — a cow shelter accommodating 100 cows. "A total of 4,123 Ramadhams will be built across the country. The shelters will focus on daily cow service, protection, and promoting indigenous breeds," he added. Those following the protocol while caring for cows would be financially rewarded. "A person taking care of 100 cows will receive Rs 2 lakh per month," he added. The Hindu pontiff further said that the Dharma Sansad has passed a congratulatory resolution in support of Hoshangabad MP Darshan Singh Chowdhary, who has demanded that the cow be declared as Rashtramata (Mother of the Nation). The Shankaracharya said people should support only those candidates who protect cows and work for legislation in their interest. "The present regime has not yet satisfied us. Cow slaughter must be completely stopped in India," he added. Addressing the language controversy, he said, "Hindi was first recognised for administrative use. The Marathi-speaking state was formed in 1960, and Marathi was recognised later. Hindi represents several dialects — the same applies to Marathi, which has borrowed from its dialects." The seer said any violence should be treated as a criminal offence. He demanded justice in the Malegaon blast case, stating that the real culprits must be punished. "It is ridiculous that the government is celebrating Amrit Kaal while cows who provide us with milk are being slaughtered. Those in government cannot be called our brothers unless they stand in support of cows," he said. PTI ND NSK ARU

Shiv Sena (UBT) workers protest at KMC against corruption in development works in Kolhapur city
Kolhapur: Shiv Sena (UBT) workers held a Kolhapur Municipal Corporation gherao protest at noon on Monday, demanding explanations regarding the alleged massive corruption in development works executed by the civic body. The party workers encircled the main Kolhapur Municipal Corporation (KMC) building with two-wheelers and autorickshaws, blocking the entry and exit points. They protested against the drainage pipeline scam and substandard work in road projects undertaken with Rs 100 crore funds. Additionally, concerns were raised over corruption in the Gandhi Maidan cross drain and the installation of heritage-style musical street lamps around the Mahalaxmi temple. A written statement outlining various demands was submitted to KMC additional commissioner Ravikant Adsul. During the protest, Sena (UBT) district president Ravikiran Ingawale criticised the overall administration of the municipal corporation. Ravikiran Ingawale said, "A corruption competition has started in the municipal corporation. A situation has arisen where whoever commits the most corruption gets the most reward. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Use an AI Writing Tool That Actually Understands Your Voice Grammarly Install Now Undo The officials in the KMC have become corrupt, and they do not want local body elections. The scam of Rs 85 lakh was done in collusion by the people's representatives and officials of Kolhapur. The roads worth Rs 100 crore have been ruined. The accused in corruption cases are made complainants." Ingawale called for the suspension of corrupt officials involved in the drainage scam at Kasba Bawda. "If no action is taken, then it is wrong. The scam of Rs 85 lakh is not a joke. The siege imposed on the municipal corporation on Monday was to wake up the people of Kolhapur," he added. Meanwhile, though administrator K Manjulekshmi appointed an inquiry committee to investigate the entire drainage scam case and submitted a report, no significant action has been taken by the municipal administrator yet. Addressing the Shiv Sena (UBT) party workers, KMC additional commissioner Ravikant Adsul said, "The thorough investigation regarding the Rs 85 lakh fake bill corruption in the drainage pipeline is ongoing. The KMC administrator has already assured of taking strict and legal action against the culprits."
