Newly formed taluks will get Praja Soudhas as government-sanctioned administrative approvals
Mr. Siddaramaiah handed over the letter to B. Susheela, Deputy Commissioner, after new taluks got administrative approval during the recent meeting held at Bengaluru.
Yadgir district had three taluks — Yadgir, Shahapur and Shorapur (Surpur) then. But these taluks were divided when Chief Minister Jagadish Shetter announced it in 2013, as Gurmitkal divided from Yadgir, Wadagera from Shahapur and Hunsagi from Shorapur, respectively.
Despite the announcement, new taluks weren't provided the taluk administrative buildings even after many years. Therefore, it was forced to function with the locally available government buildings. But, lack of sufficient space for administration, the officers and general public as well faced difficulties, more particularly in summer.
Considering the necessity, the Siddaramaiah-led Congress government had promised to construct new taluk administrative buildings and named them 'Praja Soudha' and approved the proposal during the cabinet meeting held at Kalaburagi in September last year.
After necessary formalities, taluks have finally got the administrative approval for the construction of Praja Soudhas in each taluk at a cost of ₹ 8.60 crore in two phases.
Both Wadagera and Hunsagi taluks were represented by Congress MLAs Channareddy Patil Tunnur and Raja Venugopal Naik, while Gurmitkal was represented by JD(S) MLA Sharanagouda Kandkur. It is learnt that all MLAs have put their hands together for Praja Soudhas get administrative approval.
'The Chief Minister has shown special concern to build administrative buildings in the newly formed taluks, as they were much needed for the smooth functioning of daily activities and public convenience. The new Praja Soudha buildings will have all basic facilities and other requirements as people wanted,' Mr. Tunnur reacted.
'The Yadgir district has remained backward with a lack of civic facilities and government buildings. The government should establish other required buildings, including courts, for taluks for overall development,' Sharanu Gadduge, a pro-Kannada activist, has urged.

Revanth asserts Palamuru's son will rule Telangana for next 10 years; Rajagopal says CM selection in Congress is democratic
Munugode MLA, Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy, known for stoking controversies and speaking his heart out on any platform, has created political buzz in Telangana. He said that the Chief Minister in the Congress is elected by the party high command and with the support of the MLAs. In his post on 'X' on Saturday, Mr. Rajagopal Reddy disapproved Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy's claims that for the next 10 years Telangana will be ruled by the Palamuru son - a reference that points to Mr. Revanth Reddy himself. Mr. Revanth Reddy made these statements at a public meeting in Jataprolu in Kollapur constituency of Nagarkurnool district on Friday (July 19, 2025). Tagging a Telugu news report in the post, Mr. Rajagopal Reddy said that Mr. Revanth Reddy announcing that he would be the Chief Minister for the bext 10 years was contrary to the Congress party policies. He said, in the post written in Telugu, that, 'In Congress, the selection of the Chief Minister is democratic, as per the wishes of the party high command. Sincere Congress leaders and workers will not tolerate any attempts to turn Telangana Congress into a personal empire.' Mr. Rajagopal Reddy, younger brother of Telangana Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, has been an aspirant for the ministerial berth and it was one of the conditions before he joined the Congress party from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) just before the 2023 Assembly elections in the State. However, Mr. Rajagopal Reddy was denied a berth in the Cabinet initially as his brother, Mr. Venkat Reddy, a senior Congressman, was chosen. The Munugode MLA waited for the expansion, but the party was unable to accommodate him citing too many aspirants from the politically powerful Reddy community. All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary K.C. Venugopal had conveyed to him the reasons for excluding him in the Cabinet expansion but that did not satisfy the outspoken leader. However, he was hopeful that he would be considered in the vacancies in Cabinet, which the Congress may not fill till the local body elections are over. Mr. Rajagopal Reddy's resignation from the Congress and as MLA in August 2022 forced a bypoll in Munugode where he contested on a BJP ticket again. The poll, considered to be one of the costliest in history, saw a see-saw battle between the then-ruling BRS and the BJP. Though he lost by a narrow margin, it pushed the BJP to new heights in Telangana, raising its hopes of replacing the BRS. The earlier bypoll of Huzurabad, where BRS dissident Etala Rajender defeated the BRS candidate as a BJP nominee, and Raghunandan Rao winning in Dubbak bypoll gave the BJP new strength. However, him rejoining Congress in October 2023 helped the party change the perception that the BJP was out of the race in Telangana in 2023 Assembly elections.

BJP targets Gandhi family over corruption allegations; questions LoP Rahul's post supporting Vadra
New Delhi: BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi launched a scathing attack on the Gandhi family on Saturday, accusing them of shielding each other in corruption cases and questioning the constitutional propriety of Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi's recent tweet defending his brother-in-law Robert Vadra. Speaking to the media in New Delhi, Trivedi took a sharp dig at LoP Gandhi, saying, 'He stood in support of his 'hardworking farmer' brother-in-law Robert Vadra (in a sarcastic tone), after the Enforcement Directorate filed a chargesheet against him.' Trivedi alleged that LoP Gandhi, who is himself out on bail, is now trying to protect Vadra's alleged 'ill-gotten wealth' under the guise of family loyalty. Trivedi further referred to Priyanka Gandhi Vadra's support for former Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel's son, who was arrested by the ED on Friday, calling it another example of the 'Gandhi family shielding corruption.' 'Every member of the Congress' first family is standing with each other to cover up corruption,' he said. 'This shows the real foundation of the Congress party's politics," he said. He pointed out that while Congress MP Rahul Gandhi is in the Lok Sabha, his mother Sonia Gandhi is a Rajya Sabha MP, and sister Priyanka is also in the Lok Sabha — while most of the land remains with Vadra. 'The family has always held power, and even when out of government, they want to retain it through corrupt means,' he alleged. Trivedi accused the Gandhis of deliberately dividing society based on region, language, and caste to protect their influence. 'If this was merely a family matter, why make it a political issue?' he asked. Responding to the Congress' criticism over Donald Trump's claim that 4–5 planes were shot down during the India-Pakistan conflict, Trivedi said, 'Instead of celebrating India's diplomatic victories like the TRF terror designation, they always look for the negative. Ironically, those who travel abroad the most fail to understand foreign policy.'

‘80% of TV components come from China': Rahul Gandhi says, ‘Make in India is just assembly, not manufacturing'; calls for 'ground-level change'
NEW DELHI: Leader of Opposition on Saturday called for a "ground-level change" to make India a true manufacturing power. He said under the name of ' ', the country is merely assembling products and not actually manufacturing them. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, he said, 'Do you know that 80% of the components of most TVs made in India come from China? In the name of 'Make in India', we are merely assembling, not truly manufacturing. From iPhones to TVs – the parts come from abroad; we just put them together." The Congress leader also pointed out at the structural issues and said, 'Small entrepreneurs want to manufacture, but there's neither policy nor support. On the contrary, heavy taxes and the monopoly of select corporates – which have gripped the country's industry.' Gandhi also focused on the fact that unless India becomes self-reliant in production, discussions around jobs, growth, and 'Make in India' will remain 'mere speeches.' He said, 'Ground-level change is needed so that India moves beyond the assembly line to become a true manufacturing power and can compete with China on equal footing.' In his earlier speeches, Gandhi had cited government data to argue that 'Make in India' has failed to revive the manufacturing sector, noting, 'India's manufacturing share in GDP has fallen from 15.3% in 2014 to 12.6%, the lowest in 60 years.' Highlighting the urgency for policy overhaul, Gandhi had earlier said, 'China has been working on batteries, robots, motors, and optics for the last ten years, and it has at least a ten-year lead on India in this space.' Tired of too many ads? go ad free now 'As the world stands on the brink of a technological and economic revolution, India needs a new vision for growth, production, and participation, one that directly addresses our two biggest challenges: the job crisis and the lack of opportunity for 90% of Indians.' 'Jobs come from production, which Make In India has failed to revive. But we have an opportunity with the revolution in energy and mobility, with renewable energy, batteries, electric motors and optics, and AI to bring these together. India must master a central role in this revolution, and boost production to give our youth hope for the future,' he had said.
