Communications Ministry: Proposed Finas Act amendment aligns with technological advancements
In a Facebook post last night, Teo said the proposed amendment to the Act was an important step to keep pace with the evolving technological landscape and current trends in digital content production.
'With the commitment and cooperation of all parties, I am confident that the country's creative industry can grow in a more rapid, inclusive and sustainable manner.
'Finas will continue to play an important role in building an ecosystem that supports local talent, drives innovation and elevates Malaysia as a respected regional content hub,' she said.
The meeting was also attended by Communications Ministry secretary-general Datuk Mohamad Fauzi Md Isa.
Teo, in the same post, also congratulated the remarkable success of Ejen Ali The Movie 2, which has now been officially recognised as the highest-grossing animated film in Malaysian film history.
She also extended her congratulations to the drama series Bidaah, which has recorded more than 2.5 billion views on digital platforms and social media. — Bernama

Axiata Arena buzzes with G-Dragon fans chasing tickets and soaking up the energy
KUALA LUMPUR, July 20 — As the clock ticks down, groups of eager G-Dragon fans can be seen gathered outside Axiata Arena, in the hope of securing last-minute tickets to the highly anticipated show The famous South Korean singer-songwriter is set to take centre stage for the final night of his G-Dragon 2025 World Tour Übermensch in Kuala Lumpur. By around 5pm, the area surrounding Axiata Arena is already packed with fans, with many lining up for the show, while others flock to the official merchandise booth. Previously, it was widely reported that many local fans couldn't get their G-Dragon tickets due to website crashes and allegations of online ticket scalpers. Malay Mail spotted several groups of Malaysian fans gathered in the area, trying their luck to secure any last-minute tickets from resellers. Some can be seen waiting near the entrance while holding placards with the initials WTB (Want To Buy) on them. 'One reseller approached me but his price was too expensive. 'He was selling the Category 1 tickets for RM2,900, but the original price is just around RM1,000. 'My budget, I have right now is just around RM1,500 only,' Wong said. She added that she was among G-Dragon fans who couldn't get tickets online when they were first released, as she said she couldn't even get into the website after countless tries. Meanwhile, Crystal, another fan who is also looking for tickets, said that she too was approached by a reseller selling tickets for between RM2,000 and RM4,000. 'It's too expensive. My budget is RM1,000 and below. 'I'm just going to wait here until 6pm but if no luck, I will just go home then,' Crystal said. As for 22-year-old Dayah, she came on both days of the concert in hopes of securing a ticket for herself, but just like the others, she was still unsuccessful. 'Yesterday I came here since 7.30am and I waited until around 8.30pm. 'I was approached by a reseller, the show has already started at that time, but he is still selling tickets for RM2,500. 'There are also those who tried to sell up to RM10,000,' Dayah said. Some of them, who also failed to secure tickets during the online sale, were just there to soak in the vibes while exchanging fan-made merchandise with each other. This is the case for 34-year-old Mimi Zira, who came with her friend Hajar. Both of them said that they had already accepted that they might not get a ticket for the show, but instead of just going home, they chose to hang around the area and enjoy the atmosphere with other like-minded fans. 'We've been collecting fan-made freebies all day now and there are a lot of them here actually. 'Although we didn't get to see G-Dragon live, at least we're able to celebrate with other fans here,' she said. The G-Dragon 2025 World Tour Übermensch in Kuala Lumpur is organised by local organiser Star Planet. G-Dragon's next show will be in Jakarta, Indonesia, on July 25 and 26 at the Indonesia Arena. Just like Malaysia, both of his Indonesia shows have already sold out.

With ‘Jump', Blackpink becomes first K-pop act to score two Spotify Global No. 1s (VIDEO)
SEOUL, July 20 — Blackpink is proving once again that they're not just queens of K-pop — they're a global pop force. The quartet's latest single Jump has skyrocketed to No. 1 on Spotify's Global Weekly Top Songs chart, making them the first K-pop group ever to top the chart twice, reported The Korea Herald. The song, released earlier this month, follows the group's 2022 hit Shut Down — also a chart-topper — and now cements Blackpink as the K-pop act with both the first and most No. 1 entries on the global chart. According to their label YG Entertainment, Jump racked up more than 44.7 million streams in a single week, the biggest debut for any song released in 2025 so far. It also held the No. 1 spot on Spotify's global daily chart for six consecutive days. Their Spotify success is only part of the story. Jump debuted at No. 18 on the UK Official Singles Chart, marking Blackpink's highest placement to date and their ninth overall appearance on the British chart. Over on YouTube, the music video for Jump — which dropped on July 11 — made an immediate splash. It was the most-viewed video globally within 24 hours of release and has remained No. 1 on YouTube's Global Daily Top Music Videos chart for a full week. The group is currently on the road with their Blackpink World Tour, covering 16 cities and 31 shows, including Bangkok, Jakarta, Bulacan and Singapore.
