Today's Wordle #1505 Hints And Answer For Saturday, August 2nd

Looking for Friday's Wordle hints, clues and answer? You can find them here: How To Solve Today's Wordle Okay, August day #2 is here. The first Saturday of this fine month, a month named for the first Emperor of Rome: Augustus Caesar, or Octavian. And Saturday, of course, is the one day of the week (in English) named after a Roman god. Feeling godlike and imperial, let's solve today's Wordle! Wordle is a daily word puzzle game where your goal is to guess a hidden five-letter word in six tries or fewer. After each guess, the game gives feedback to help you get closer to the answer: Use these clues to narrow down your guesses. Every day brings a new word, and everyone around the world is trying to solve the same puzzle. Some Wordlers also play Competitive Wordle against friends, family, the Wordle Bot or even against me, your humble narrator. See rules for Competitive Wordle toward the end of this post. Okay, spoilers below! The answer is coming! . . . Every day I check Wordle Bot to help analyze my guessing game. You can check your Wordles with Wordle Bot right here. CRONE was a very good opening guess, leaving me with just 79 words. Unfortunately, BAITS (all new letters) only cut that down to 7. Still too many to juggle, especially since a lot of them ended in AUNT. I tried GAUNT and confirmed four of the five letters, but still had five words to choose from. I was feeling cheeky, and instead of trying to narrow that down, I foolishly guessed DAUNT. Lucky for me, it was the Wordle! The Bot and I each get 0 points for guessing in four and 0 for tying, leaving our August totals at: Erik: -4 points Wordle Bot: 2 points The word "daunt" comes from the Old French danter (modern dompter), meaning "to tame, subdue, or vanquish," which in turn comes from Latin domitare, a frequentative of domare, meaning "to tame" or "to subdue." It entered English in the 13th century with the sense of "to overcome with fear or discourage." The meaning shifted from literal taming to figurative intimidation over time. In this novel, experimental theater crosses moral, legal lines

Experimental theater of the early 1970s had an undeniable allure. Immersive long before 'Sleep No More,' it blurred the boundary between self, show and world. For Allison, who attends the kind of cosseting school with a curfew and a 'dorm matron,' it promises more: 'Change me,' she silently begs her first such show as she stands on a seedy Times Square sidewalk. 'Form me. Teach me who and what I am.' 'Flashout' is the second novel from New York Times theater critic and culture reporter Alexis Soloski, and it unspools across two timelines. One follows Allison's youth in a past-its-prime troupe with a predatory, narcissistic leader. In the other, it's 1997 in the San Fernando Valley, as a wry high school theater teacher with a very healthy work-life balance is always looking over her shoulder, wondering, 'Had she been caught? Found? Finally?'
