Taxi driver charged with sexual assaults in Cairns area

Police are appealing for women who may have been assaulted in taxis or rideshare vehicles in North Queensland to come forward after charging a 72-year-old male driver with three counts of sexual assault. Senior Constable Amelia Farrows said police believed there may be more alleged victims. Taxi driver Roman Peter Galaska picked up a 76-year-old woman near Cairns Hospital on May 9, according to police. They allege the Palm Cove resident drove the woman to a Manunda address, helped her inside and touched her inappropriately. Police also allege that Mr Galaska inappropriately touched a 27-year-old woman before she got out of the vehicle at Woree on May 17. "This type of offending is not tolerated in our community and police will investigate all complaints thoroughly," Senior Constable Farrows said. She called for anyone who had experienced inappropriate behaviour or touching while riding in a taxi or rideshare vehicle to contact police. Mr Galaska is due to appear in Cairns Magistrates Court on Thursday.

Man arrested in Strathfield driving black ‘Chinese Police' sedan with firearms, ammunition in boot

You don't see this one every day. Police in Sydney's inner west made a peculiar arrest on Friday after stopping a 21-year-old man driving a black sedan in Strathfield. Burwood Highway Patrol officers were conducting routine patrols at around 2:50pm on 18 July when they noticed a vehicle bearing 'Chinese Police' markings. On inspection of the vehicle, they found numerous 'Chinese Police' insignia affixed to the passenger door panels and the bonnet. The driver was charged after officers allegedly found firearms and ammunition in the boot. Upon questioning, the man allegedly produced a fake document claiming the vehicle was being used to transport Chinese consulate officials. During a search of the car, officers located a box containing 48 live rounds of ammunition in the trunk. The man, who holds an active firearms licence, allegedly told police he believed it was 'the best place to store his ammunition'. Officers seized the ammunition along with other items suspected of being used to impersonate police. They later gained access to the man's Baulkham Hills residence, where they located two gel blaster firearms, which were also seized. His registered firearms were taken pending a review of his firearms licence. The man was charged with multiple offences, including use display emergency services organisation insignia, driving motor vehicle with unlawful police insignia and possession of an unauthorised prohibited firearm. He was granted conditional bail and is due to appear at Burwood Local Court on Tuesday, 22 July 2025. At a glance, the man's black sedan looked to be legitimate, if not for the misspelt 'POILCE' emblazoned on his bonnet.

Coldplay CEO's ‘daughter' responds to scandal

Don't miss out on the headlines from Real Life. Followed categories will be added to My News. A social media account claiming to be the daughter of Astronomer's ex-CEO Andy Bryon, who was caught on the Coldplay kiss-cam allegedly cheating, went viral over the weekend, pulling in millions of views before the truth emerged. The account, calling itself ThatMarinagirll, launched just a day after the Bryon scandal hit headlines, claiming to be Marina Byron, the supposedly 23-year-old daughter dealing with her dad's very public affair. It already has nearly 200k followers. In her first clip, warming herself next to an open fire, Marina said she was 'reconnecting with life after your dad's affair makes national news'. That video alone amassed 36 million views in a few days. What followed was a steady stream of self-aware, tongue-in-cheek content, including mentions of family group chats and poking fun at rich-kid stereotypes. One video responded to a comment that read: 'I don't feel bad for rich people,' while Marina ran around on the deck of a private yacht looking carefree. A woman has claimed to be the daughter of Andy Bryon, the ex-CEO at the centre of the Coldplay kiss-cam scandal. Picture: TikTok/thatmarinagirll Others showed screenshots of text exchanges between her and her friends, where they discussed the news. 'I thought it was your dad's doppelganger,' one of the friends says. Marina replies: 'I saw it early this morning … Lord help us'. In another, Marina claims to be texting her mum, who is allegedly processing the news by doing breathwork and manifestation. By the fourth video, the account was promoting a company called Triips, a discount travel website. 'Thanks for the $35 flight, I'm basically healed,' the caption read. She made several videos over the weekend claiming to be dealing with her father's alleged affair. Picture: TikTok/thatmarinagirll The videos were flooded with comments, split into three clear groups. Some offered sympathy, others criticised her for 'capitalising' on her dad's cheating scandal, and some simply didn't believe any of it was real. 'This is honestly iconic. Making lemonade out of lemons,' said one. 'I'm so sorry that happened to you, your mum and family. Infidelity is traumatising for the whole family,' another commented. 'I hope you are healing in any way you can from all of this,' said a third. The account amassed nearly 200k followers in just a few days. Picture: TikTok/thatmarinagirll But not everyone was buying it. 'Trying to go viral off your dad's affair is absolutely insane,' one blunt comment read. 'Wow, imagine using your dad's affair to get famous,' said someone else. Then, scepticism began to surface. 'She isn't his child, y'all,' claimed one. 'It's giving ad,' wrote another. 'Impostor check,' added a third. One account, LizTheMillennial, even created a video claiming the account was fake and that the profile was banning any comments that attempted to share the truth. But people quickly began to grow sceptical of the account. Picture: TikTok/LizTheMillennial So, does Andy Bryon have a daughter? According to public records, Andy Bryon doesn't have a daughter. Bryon and his wife Megan Kerrigan have two sons. There's no mention of a daughter named Marina Bryon. Up until the cheating scandal went viral, Kerrigan was posting happy family photos on Facebook, including their two sons. It appears that the CEO doesn't actually have a daughter, just two sons. Picture: Facebook/MeganKerrigan Bryon's wife, Megan Kerrigan posted happy snaps of the family of four to Facebook, before the alleged affair went public. Facebook/MeganKerrigan Meanwhile, Elon Musk's xAI's bot Grok also fact-checked the claims on social media. 'Based on extensive review … there is no credible evidence of anyone named Marina being Andy Byron's daughter. Confirmed: He and his wife have two sons only. This claim seems baseless or mistaken,' Grok wrote on X. Kerrigan hasn't made any formal comment about the scandal, but reportedly removed her married name from her Facebook last week and has since deleted her account. No one in the family has publicly commented on the incident. Picture: Supplied Adding yet another twist, the videos on the Marina Bryon account were allegedly taken from the social media of a French model and singer-songwriter, Julie Tuzet. Tuzet came forward over the weekend to clear her name. 'Guys, I am not the CEO's daughter. You probably saw this video of me at a fireplace reconnecting with nature. It's just someone who stole my videos and content from TikTok to create this fake news, and it's going viral,' she said in her own TikTok. The real woman in the video made a TikTok claiming the account was impersonating her, and she wasn't the CEO's daughter. Picture: TikTok/julietuzet She is a model and singer-songwriter and says her videos often get stolen online. Picture: TikTok/julietuzet 'Please help me report that person because she blocked me, so I can't report it. I also can't comment anything because she is checking each comment so they don't tag my real account. 'But stay safe, don't believe everything you see on the internet, and help me spread this news because it's wild.' Once the alleged hoax was revealed, many viewers admitted to falling for it. 'Damn, I fell for it, thanks for the truth,' said one comment. 'Makes you really sit down and think what else is fake,' another mused. Another said they felt like they 'got played'. has reached out to ThatMarinaGirll, Julie Tuzet and Triips for comment. Originally published as Coldplay CEO's 'daughter' responds to scandal
