Thursday is Indy Eve and rain and storm chances are moving into the forecast, but like Wednesday, activity will be primarily over the mountains on Thursday.

An incoming upper-level trough will help pull monsoonal moisture in from the south. That will increase the chances of thunderstorms in the mountains, with a stray shower and storm possible for the lower elevations later Thursday.

Thursday will be another hot day across the Denver metro area and Eastern Colorado with afternoon highs climbing into the 90s.
Highs in the mountains will drop a couple of degrees as compared to Wednesday, reaching the 70s and 80s.

It will still be quite hot as the doors open at Center Park in Denver for Independence Eve on Thursday night.
There will be a 20% chance of showers and storms around 5 p.m., but the rain chances drop going into the rest of the evening.

That upper-level trough will move across the area as Friday approaches, which could bring a few early showers, but there is a better chance of rain and storms later in the afternoon.
Scattered storms are forecast to roll across the I-25 corridor, moving East after 12 p.m. Friday will not be a washout, as the storms will be isolated, and are likely to wrap up after 5 p.m.

Clear Southern California skies expected for 4th of July celebrations
It's expected to be a picture-perfect evening for viewing fireworks and drone shows across the Southern California region on Friday, July 4. Temperatures on Friday will be a few degrees below normal, with morning clouds clearing around 9 to 10 a.m. Highs will be in the 70s along the coast, in the 80s for most valleys, and in the mid-90s across the desert, according to the National Weather Service. "The Independence Day forecast for tonight, it's going to look fantastic. We're talking about clear skies, as we don't have a lot of the clouds moving in until the overnight hours," KCAL News Meteorologist Amber Lee said. Temperatures will gradually warm up over the holiday weekend. Peak heat arrives next week on Wednesday through Friday, with widespread 100s expected in inland cities. An air quality alert is in effect from 5 p.m. July 4 through midnight July 5 due to harmful levels of fine particle pollution. Smoke from July 4 fireworks in most of Los Angeles and Orange Counties and the Inland Empire, and wildfire smoke in Santa Clarita and the San Gabriel and San Bernardino Mountains, led to the alert.

Deadly and 'catastrophic' flooding unfolding along Texas' Guadalupe River
A "catastrophic" and deadly flooding emergency was unfolding in Texas on the Fourth of July as heavy rains caused the Guadalupe River to rapidly rise. People have died in Kerr County and roads were flooding in Kerrville, a city of 25,000 people about 60 miles northwest of San Antonio, authorities said. "This is a catastrophic flooding event in Kerr County. We can confirm fatalities but will not release further information until next of kin are notified," the Kerr County Sheriff's Office said. "The entire county is an extremely active scene." Residents were urged to shelter in place and not attempt to travel. Anyone along creeks, streams and the Guadalupe River should seek higher ground, the sheriff's office said. The area was under a flash flood warning and between 5 and 11 inches of rain had already fallen by about 9 a.m., the National Weather Service in Austin and San Antonio said. "This is a very dangerous and life-threatening flood event along the Guadalupe River! Move to higher ground!" the weather service there said. Earlier in the morning, the Guadalupe River at Hunt in western Kerr County had already reached the second-highest level on record at over 29 feet, surpassing levels of the 1987 Guadalupe River Flood at that spot, the weather service in Austin and San Antonio said. The 1987 flood killed 10 teenagers on a church camp bus and van on July 17 near Comfort, Texas.
