Man who tried to bomb ex's house dies after explosive bounced back and hit him
A man who plotted to kill his ex-girlfriend died when a bomb he threw in her home recoiled and exploded in his face.
Surapong Thongnak, 36, hatched his plan when Kanonraphat Saowakhon, 28, said she didn't want to reconcile with him in Surat Thani, southern Thailand.
Witnesses were drinking coffee when they said Surapong drove up to the property, before barging into the house and waking up Saowakhon, pleading for her to take him back.
After the chaos, he allegedly tried to stab her with a pair of scissors before running to his car to grab a grenade.
Once he threw it, the explosive hit a concrete pillar on the property and bounced back.
Surapong leaned down to pick up the grenade, when it exploded in his hands, instantly killing him and injuring four others on May 25.
Police arrived at the scene and found Surapong lying face down in a pool of blood, with debris and shrapnel scattered across the yard.
Four people, including his ex-girlfriend, Saowakhon, were wounded and rushed to a hospital where they were treated for minor injuries before being released.
Police Major Chinnakrit Sawatdiwong said: 'The injured individuals were taken to the Tha Chana Hospital. All of them have been discharged except for Samart Janyang, 68, who suffered more serious injuries. He has been transferred to the Surat Thani Hospital for further treatment.'
Surapong's mother, Ranjuan Timdee, 58, said the couple had only been dating for two months before breaking up.
She said: 'I was shocked to receive the news this morning that he had died. I couldn't believe he could be so violent.'
Police said they also seized half a kilo (1.1 lbs) of meth from Surapong's car.

Portraits honouring Windrush generation vandalised in Brixton
A Windrush exhibition in south London aimed at honouring the history, legacy, and contributions of the Windrush Generation to British society has been vandalised. Portraits featured in the Windrush Untold Stories exhibition, currently installed in Windrush Square in Brixton, were damaged on of Windrush Square said the "deliberate vandalism" was "not only an attack on public art, but a blatant act of racial hatred directed at a community that has given so much to the life and spirit of the UK".The Metropolitan Police has been contacted for comment. Ros Griffiths, chair of Friends of Windrush Square, said: "This is a deeply upsetting and shocking act of racial disrespect. "Windrush Untold Stories was created to celebrate the contributions and resilience of the Windrush Generation, whose story is central to the fabric of British life. "That it should be targeted in such a hateful way is a stark reminder of the ongoing challenges we face in building an inclusive and respectful society."

Champion jockey Oisin Murphy handed fine and ban after crashing car while drunk
Jockey Oisin Murphy pleaded guilty after giving a breath test which was nearly twice the legal alcohol limit, seven hours after he was arrested following a road traffic accident Champion jockey Oisin Murphy was fined £70,000 and banned from driving for 20 months over a drink driving offence. The four-time British champion Flat rider appeared at Reading magistrates court on Thursday where he faced one charge. Murphy, 29, was involved in a serious road traffic collision in Hermitage, West Berkshire in April this year when a grey Mercedes A Class car left the road and crashed into a tree. When he stood in the dock at Reading he pleaded guilty to having 66 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The test was given nearly seven hours after his arrest. A second charge of failing to provide a breath test at the roadside was withdrawn. He was fined £70,000, ordered to pay a £2,000 surcharge and £85 costs, to be paid by June 31. His licence was disqualified for 20 months but he will receive a 20 week reduction if he completes a drink driving rehabilitation scheme by August 2026. Murphy left the court without making comment.

EasyJet flight to Tenerife met by police after 'passenger urinated in the aisle'
A disruptive passenger is said to have urinated in the aisle onboard an easyjet flight between Birmingham and Tenerife. The incident reportedly took place as an unruly group travelled on flight EZY6607 yesterday afternoon and led to police and medical teams meeting the aircraft. The crew requested the support after reporting a passenger who was causing a 'significant disturbance', according to reports shared by air traffic controllers on X. Air Traffic Control at Tenerife South Airport then gave priority to the aircraft's approach for a faster arrival, with the jet landing at 3.28pm. The incident reportedly escalated when the passenger urinated in the aisle, an act that has since led to what sources describe as an 'exemplary punishment' without any further details being made public. In May, a British woman was hauled off a Ryanair flight from Tenerife to Scotland after reportedly making fake bomb threats and being aggressive to other passengers.
