New Delhi [India], July 8 (ANI): Pugilist Hitesh Gulia, who fell short of winning a gold medal at the World Boxing Cup Astana in 2025, has said that he will go back and work on his mistakes to prepare himself for the upcoming World Championships in September.
The 20-year-old boxer returned home with a silver medal after losing his final bout in the men's 70kg event. Gulia lost his final game of the competition 0-5 against Brazil's Kaian Oliveira.
'There is a feeling of not winning gold, but I'll work on my mistakes, and everyone will be able to see those improvements in the World Championship. Everyone over there was tough, but the toughest fight was in the finals. It was the neck-to-neck competition,' Gulia told ANI in an interview.
Meanhhile, Olympian Pooja Rani (women's 80kg) also finished her World Boxing Cup Astana 2025 campaign with a silver medal.
Rani said, 'At the World Cup, which was hosted in Kazakhstan, I won the silver medal. My opening match was with the hosting nation only; there was some pressure also. I won that bout by 4-1. After that, my semi-final bout was with the Turkey, who was a four-time World Cup medalist, but I won that bout by 3-2.'
The Indian contingent finished with 11 medals, including three gold, five silver and three bronze medals. India had bagged six medals in the first leg in Brazil, including a gold and a silver.
Head Coach of the Indian Boxing Team, Dharmendra Singh Yadav said, 'Not only me but the whole nation is feeling proud. This time, the performance was good. Two bouts that we lost were very close to 3-2, and due to that, we faced the loss... Everyone won good bouts, and those who were not able to win also learned something from their loss.' (ANI)

"You Ruined My Shaadi, I Went Into Depression": Aamir Khan Stunned Pakistan Great. Here's The Story

Cricket and Bollywood is a combination that goes a long time back. There are several examples of cricketers marrying actors - MAK Pataudi-Sharmila Tagore, Virat Kohli - Anushka Sharma, KL Rahul -Athiya Shetty. Some Bollywood even owns cricket teams like Shah Rukh Khan, Preity Zinta. The celebrities can also be seen in important cricket matches. Aamir Khan is among those personalities. He was present at the Wankhede Stadium when Sachin Tendulkar retired from cricket in 2013 and also during the 2011 World Cup final that India won under MS Dhoni. The superstar's cricket connection does not stop there. In a recent interview, Aamir Khan revealed that he got married to Reena Dutta (the couple is divorced now) on 18th April 1986, the same date when Pakistan Javed Miandad hit a six on a last ball against India in the final of the Austral-Asia Cup to take his team home. Khan said he and Reena got secretly married and did not tell their parent. "This was the same day when Javed Miandad hit a last ball six at Sharjah to help Pakistan beat India. Same day, we got married. We were stressed when we returned home but nobody asked us anything as everybody was watching the match," Khan said on Lallantop. "I was happy that India was winning the match on the same day I got married. That too against Pakistan. But then Miandad hit the six and we lost." Khan went on to say that he even met Miandad many years later and told him about the incident. "After many years, I met Javed Miandad in a flight. I told him, 'Javed Bhai, you did not do well. Aapne meri shaadi barbaad kar di (You ruined my wedding). That day you hit a six. I went into depression.'" Javed Miandad is often considered one of the greatest batters Pakistan have ever produced. In 124 Tests he scored 8832 runs at an average of 52.57, while in 233 ODIs he slammed 7381 runs at an average of 41.70.

Chelsea's Enzo Fernandez Warns Of 'Dangerous' Heat At Club World Cup

Chelsea star Enzo Fernandez warned Friday that playing games at the hottest time of the day during the Club World Cup is "very dangerous" as his side prepare to take on Paris Saint-Germain in the final on Sunday afternoon. "The heat is incredible. The other day I was feeling a bit dizzy and I had to sit down on the ground," Argentinian playmaker Fernandez told reporters on Friday. Sunday's Club World Cup final at the MetLife Stadium just outside New York between Chelsea and PSG will kick off at 3:00 pm local time (1900 GMT). Temperatures then are forecast to be as high as 31 degrees Celsius (88 degrees fahrenheit). Chelsea kicked off at the same time in their 2-0 semi-final win over Brazilian side Fluminense on Tuesday, and the heat has had an impact on numerous games throughout the competition. That has led to concerns about scheduling during the World Cup set to take place across North America next year. "Playing in these temperatures is very dangerous," said Fernandez, who was speaking before Chelsea trained at the Sports Illustrated Stadium in New Jersey, home of MLS side New York Red Bulls. "Obviously for the spectacle, for people who come to the stadium to enjoy it, and for those watching at home, the pace of play is not the same, it slows everything down. "Let's hope they change the kick-off times to make it a better spectacle," Fernandez, a World Cup winner with Argentina in 2022, added with an eye on the 2026 tournament.

Who is Joe Burns? Australian Cricketer Who Led Italy to First T20 World Cup, Know Full Tragic Story

Joe Burns has written one of cricket's most remarkable modern fairytales by leading Italy to their first-ever qualification for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup to be played in India in 2026. The former Australian Test opener, now captain of Italy's national team, has not only reignited his own career but also sparked a revolution in Italian cricket. With Italy officially booking their place in the 2026 T20 World Cup, Burns' bold and emotional decision has paid off in an extraordinary way. International Career with Australia Joe Burns played 23 Test matches and 6 One Day Internationals for the Australian national cricket team between 2014 and 2020. A technically solid right-handed batsman, Burns accumulated 1,442 runs in Tests at an average of 36.97. His international career featured four centuries, including a memorable ton against New Zealand in 2015 and a career-best 180 against Sri Lanka in 2019. Despite these performances, his time in the Australian setup came to a halt amid stiff competition and inconsistent form. He never represented Australia in any World Cup. Personal Tragedy: The Turning Point In 2024, Joe Burns suffered a devastating personal loss, the passing of his brother, Dominic Burns, in Brisbane. Dominic was a dedicated club cricketer, representing the Northern Federals in sub-district cricket. His jersey bore the number 85, which was both his birth year and shirt number. This emotional blow became the defining moment of Joe's career. Burns decided to honour his brother by connecting with his roots. With maternal grandparents from Calabria, Italy, he chose to represent the Italian national team. In a heartfelt Instagram post, he revealed that he would wear the number 85 jersey for Italy in tribute to Dominic. "Logically and emotionally, it just felt right," Burns later said. Leading Italy to Historic World Cup Qualification Appointed as Italy's T20I captain in late 2024, Burns quickly set about transforming the team's mindset and performance. Under his leadership, Italy advanced through the sub-regional and regional European qualifiers. Burns himself led from the front, with his standout performance being an unbeaten 108 off 55 balls against Romania. Italy's most crucial moment came when they defeated traditional European powerhouse Scotland to seal their place in the 2026 T20 World Cup. The victory marked Italy as the 25th nation in history to qualify for the global tournament. Burns' influence was not limited to runs and tactics he brought with him a culture of professionalism, discipline, and belief that turned Italy from underdogs into contenders. 'It's More Than Just Cricket' Wearing his brother's number 85, Joe Burns made it clear that his mission extended far beyond the pitch. 'It's more than just cricket,' he said. 'It's about honouring family, heritage, and building something that lasts beyond us.' His journey became both a personal tribute and a national triumph. A Leader with Global Pedigree Joe Burns' transition from Australian Test cricket to leading Italy on the world stage stands as an inspiring story of resilience, identity, and legacy. Italy's qualification for the 2026 T20 World Cup is not just a sporting milestone it's a symbol of emotional strength, leadership, and the belief that greatness can be reignited in the most unexpected ways. As the cricketing world sets its sights on the next T20 World Cup, Italy will walk in as proud debutants, led by a man who turned personal grief into global achievement. Joe Burns has given Italian cricket a historic first and shown the world that sometimes, the biggest wins come from the heart.
