Former Baltimore Ravens CB agrees to a 1-year deal with the Houston Texans
Maulet re-signed with Baltimore last offseason on a two-year deal, but he struggled to stay healthy in 2024, playing just three games. Maulet, now 31, had a productive 2023 season for the Ravens, putting his versatility on display as he played 14 games with five pass breakups, two sacks, and 37 tackles.

Fan favourite Romeu visits Saints during Girona training camp
SAINTS favourite Oriol Romeu has been to visit his former teammates at the start of their pre-season training camp in Girona this week. Romeu, who is signed to Barcelona and spent last season on loan at Catalonia-based Girona, spent seven years at Saints between 2015 and 2022. The 33 year old defensive midfielder lives near Southampton's training camp base, meaning this is not a hint towards a potential return. In a video posted to Southampton's social media feed, Romeu was seen catching up with Adam Armstrong, Will Smallbone and Jack Stephens. READ: Fernandes in Saints training camp squad as Downes and Dibling out with injury "I'm training tomorrow, but we have to go somewhere. We have to meet up and catch up. I'll come and see you," he told his former clubmates. "Anytime you are free," Stephens responded to his former vice-captain before the video concludes. Romeu made 256 appearances for Saints after joining on a permanent transfer from fellow Premier League side Chelsea in 2015. He reached the EFL Cup final with Saints in 2016/17, losing 3-2 to Manchester United. He was voted Saints player of the season that year. The Daily Echo will be out in Girona to cover Southampton's warm-weather training camp as preparations for the Championship step up a notch.

Peterborough sign Walsall defender Okagbue
Peterborough United have signed Walsall centre-back David Okagbue for an undisclosed fee. The 21-year-old has agreed a four-year deal with Posh after making 54 appearances for the Saddlers last season and scoring two goals. Okagbue is Peterborough's sixth summer signing as they look to improve on last season's disappointing 18th-place finish in League One. "He is at a good age with lots of room for improvement and development. What he will add is pace and physicality to our defensive unit, which is something that I was looking for," said boss Darren Ferguson. Okagbue began his career at Stoke City and had loans spells with Oldham and Walsall before joining the latter on a permanent basis last summer. "I have had two seasons with Walsall and played a lot of games. I felt the time was right to step into League One," he said. Find all the latest football transfers on our dedicated page

Le Bris calls for goals after pre-season defeat
Sunderland concluded their time in Portugal with a 1-0 defeat by domestic champions Sporting. A first-half strike from Francisco Trincao separated the two sides as the Black Cats completed their training camp in the Algarve. New signings Noah Sadiki, Habib Diarra, Simon Adingra, and Chemsdine Talbi all featured as manager Regis le Bris rotated his squad after 45 minutes. Speaking after the game to the club website, Le Bris said: "We created some good chances, but unfortunately we didn't score. "It is really important now that when you're creating chances, you are clinical as well because that will be key this season. "I am happy with the energy and happy with the way we created some chances, but at the end, we have to score. "We struggled a bit in the first half and conceded a goal with the only opportunity they had. "It is better to make that mistake right now so we can understand how we want to defend against this kind of squad. "They were mature, well-organised, and had many different options - through the middle and in behind. "It is good to manage this kind of problem early in the season."
