Palestinian students residing in Morocco expressed on Thursday their deep gratitude, profound respect, and high esteem for His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, for the emergency humanitarian and medical aid sent, on His Majesty's Very High Instructions, to support the Palestinian people, particularly the populations in the Gaza Strip. In statements to MAP, these students highly praised the continuous initiatives and support that His Majesty King Mohammed VI has unfailingly provided to the Palestinian people, especially in the Gaza Strip, given the current dire conditions faced by the local population. They emphasized that this humanitarian initiative reflects the Kingdom's unwavering commitment, under the leadership of His Majesty the King, to humanitarian causes in general and to the Palestinian cause in particular. They also extended their heartfelt congratulations to His Majesty the King and to the Moroccan people on the occasion of the 26th anniversary of the King's accession to the Throne of His glorious ancestors. In this regard, Abdellah Naim Youssef Al Nabih, a PhD student at Mohammed V University in Rabat, affirmed that this initiative demonstrates a spirit of solidarity and compassion toward the Palestinian people and reaffirms the pioneering role of HM the King, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, in supporting the Palestinian cause. He added that this initiative is not the first of its kind but is part of a series of previous actions aimed at alleviating the suffering of families in the Gaza Strip by providing them with essential food supplies and medical equipment in light of the dire humanitarian situation there. He expressed his deep thanks to His Majesty the King, may God protect Him. For her part, Hala Salama Hamad Al-Masalmah, a Palestinian student at the same university, expressed her deep gratitude and sincere thanks to His Majesty the King for His initiatives in favor of the Palestinian people, particularly those in Gaza. Under HM the King's Leadership, Morocco Stands out as Emerging Power in Africa

The Kingdom of Morocco, under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, stands out as an 'emerging power' in Africa, thanks to outstanding performance and forward-looking choices, African Development Bank (AfDB) President Akinwumi Adesina said. In a statement to MAP, Adesina emphasized that Morocco, which is undergoing a strong transformative momentum as highlighted in the speech delivered by His Majesty the King on the occasion of the Throne Day, stands out for the consistency and coherence of its economic and social progress. Morocco's strategic positioning, he said, is rooted in a clear and ambitious vision supported by an integrated development strategy, economic, social, and environmental, grounded in stable governance and carefully considered policy choices. This methodical and determined approach, he added, has enabled the Kingdom to emerge as one of the most advanced nations on the African continent. 'As part of its New Development Model, the Kingdom has strengthened its economic fundamentals,' Adesina said, pointing to genuine sectoral diversification, a well-managed openness to global markets, and firm integration into regional and global value chains as signs of Morocco's economic emergence. The country's industrial revival, particularly in the automotive, aerospace, and renewable energy sectors, reflects this upward trajectory, bolstered by an ambitious infrastructure policy and solid macroeconomic environment, which enhance Morocco's appeal to international investors, he noted. 'Driven by the major development projects launched by His Majesty the King, our relations with the Kingdom continue to grow stronger, in order to support and accompany these multi-faceted advances for the benefit of the country and the Moroccan people,' Adesina concluded. Angola Protests: At Least 22 Killed, 197 Injured, and 1,200 Arrested

Rabat – At least 22 people have been killed and 197 others injured in a wave of violence that has erupted across Angola over the last week. Protesters have fumed against the current government under strongman Joao Lourenco, lambasting the fuel prices hike that has affected cost of living across the African nation. Fuel and petrol subsidies have been steadily removed in recent years, triggering a cost-of-living crisis, in what is already one of the most expensive countries to live in Africa. According to a government spokesman, Angolan police have arrested at least 1,200 people during the demonstrations. Looting, vandalism and violence began with deadly clashes between the police in the capital city Luanda and spread across the nation. Gunfire was seen in several Angolan cities as the police opened fired on protesters across Monday and Tuesday, leading to confrontations with citizens. In response to the unrest, Angolan strongman president Joao Lourenco chaired a cabinet in Luanda to discuss the tense situation. Lourenco's party, the People's Movement for the Liberation of Angola, has been continuously in power for fifty years since the country gained independence from Portugal in 1975 and experienced a civil war shortly after. During this cabinet meeting, the president and his advisors decided to 'restore order' by deploying the military across the country to tackle what they called a 'triggered climate of widespread instability.' Human Rights Watch and other advocacy organisations have lambasted the government for its harsh and excessive use of force in dealing with a largely peaceful demonstration. HRW has accused the police of unnecessarily firing tear gas and rubber bullets at protestors and assaulting many in the demonstrations. These scenes throughout Angola have resembled reactions to other recent African protests, such as the still simmering anti-Ruto government protests in Kenya. Angola's protests have continued throughout the week, but the visibly frustrated streets have become quieter as security forces turn unpredictably violent in their confrontations with demonstrators.
