
AIC T-Hub spacetech accelerator cohort with 17 startups takes off
Addressing key challenges across critical space domains, including satellite technology, reusable rockets, propulsion systems, intelligent manufacturing, space biology, space-based communication and data analytics are focus of the programme. The startups have been selected based on a structured selection process, T-Hub said on Tuesday.
Experts, including former DRDO chairman and Scientific Adviser to Defence Minister G.Satheesh Reddy, director at G.P. Birla Archaeological, Astronomical & Scientific Research Institute K.Mruthyunjaya Reddy, former scientist and associate director of SDSC ISRO Seshagiri Rao, former scientist at NASA AMES & NASA Goddard Mila Mitra, and Deputy General Manager at CNES-France Space,Gautier Champion are supporting the second cohort.
ResearchSat, Space Unlock, Cosmo Crawler, Kosmos Connect, ADTCore, Spacebelief, Space App India, Resolute Lab India, Vedasya, Polygon Geospatial, ioTHyAi, Stardour, Erudite, Cosmoserve Space, Raksyon, Nalwa Aero and Levitar Systems are the 17 selected startups.
'At T-Hub, we are focused on backing founders who take on tough, meaningful challenges. Spacetech is one of those areas where India has both the talent and the opportunity to lead. As recent funded ventures show, Hyderabad and Telangana are among the regions leading this charge,' said T-Hub CEO Kavikrut.
AIC T-Hub CEO Rajesh Kumar Adla said the goal is to raise more than ₹3 crore in funding and support the development of 10-plus new IP assets.

Indian Army's ATAGS To Get Range Over 80 Km: All About DRDO's Smart Ammunition Plan For Guns
The DRDO is developing indigenous ammunition to improve precision and extend the gun's range. Currently, ATAGS can strike targets up to 48 km away The Indian Army is set to enhance its firepower with the Advanced Towed Artillery Gun System (ATAGS), which will soon achieve an extended range exceeding 80 km. The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) is developing indigenous ammunition to improve precision and extend the gun's range. Currently, ATAGS can strike targets up to 48 km away. The Armament Research and Development Establishment (ARDE) wing of the DRDO is working on a variety of munitions. These include smart ammunition designed for stability, precision, and extended range. Current developments include bourrelet ammunition, with precision-guided munitions featuring advanced guidance systems, primarily utilising NavIC satellite guidance and ramjet-powered shells, expected to follow. 'Currently, we are developing the bourrelet series. User trials will be completed in the next one to one-and-a-half years. We are also developing guided shells, including GPS- and laser-guided variants. These shells will be available within four to five years and will enhance range and accuracy. Additionally, we are working on a ramjet-class shell with guidance, which will provide a range of over 80 kilometers and will be among the most advanced shells in the world," said RP Pandey, Project Director for the ATAGS project at ARDE. While the bourrelet series will slightly improve the precision and performance of ATAGS ammunition, subsequent developments are focused on making the platform more accurate and lethal with an extended range. A prototype of GPS-guided ammunition, primarily utilising NavIC satellite guidance with a GPS backup option, is expected by 2027. The ramjet-propelled shells are designed primarily to extend range. They will be compatible with ATAGS as well as other 155 mm artillery systems, such as the Haubits FH77, Dhanush, and K9 Vajra-T. These shells will include a Precision Guidance Kit for trajectory correction and feature their own propulsion to boost speed and range after firing. 'The ramjet-class shell is expected to be ready in the next five years. Very few countries are working on this category of artillery, but rest assured, when it arrives, it will be a game-changer," RP Pandey added. In March, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) signed contracts for the procurement of 307 ATAGS 155mm/52 calibre guns and 327 high-mobility 6×6 gun-towing vehicles at a cost of approximately ₹6,900 crore. The ATAGS and towing vehicles will be procured from Bharat Forge Limited and Tata Advanced Systems Limited, respectively. The first regiment of ATAGS, comprising 18 guns, is expected to be delivered by March 2027. DRDO & IAF successfully test ‘Astra' BVRAAM
Visakhapatnam: Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Indian Air Force (IAF) successfully carried out the flight-test of indigenous Beyond Visual Range Air-to-Air Missile (BVRAAM) 'Astra' equipped with indigenous radio frequency (RF) seeker from Su-30 Mk-I platform off the coast of Odisha. During the test fire held on Friday (July 11), two launches were carried out against high-speed unmanned aerial targets at different ranges, target aspects and launch platform conditions. In both the cases, the missiles destroyed the targets with pin-point accuracy. During the tests, all subsystems performed as per expectations, including the RF seeker which has been indigenously designed and developed by the DRDO. The flawless performance of the Astra weapon system was validated through flight data captured by range tracking instruments deployed by integrated test range, Chandipur. These successful flight tests have re-established the accuracy and reliable performance of Astra weapon system with indigenous seeker. Astra BVRAAM has a range exceeding 100-km and is equipped with state-of-the art guidance and navigation system. In addition to various laboratories of the DRDO, more than 50 public and private industries including Hindustan Aeronautics Limited have contributed towards successful realisation of the weapon system. Complimenting the DRDO, IAF and industry involved in the design and development of the RF seeker, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh stated that the successful testing of the missile with indigenous seeker is a major milestone in critical defence technology. Secretary, Department of Defence R&D and Chairman, DRDO Dr Samir V Kamat congratulated all the teams involved during the successful flight-test.
