Nextdoor Gets Update With Local News Partnerships

If you are a Nextdoor user, you know it is the place to ask for plumber recommendations and to air your grievances about the new traffic light in town. But Nextdoor wants to be so much more. Co-founder and CEO Nirav Tolia told AP News: "There should be enough value that we are creating for neighbors that they feel like they need to open up Nextdoor every single day. And that isn't the case today." To that end, Nextdoor announced its "most consequential redesign of its core product to date." A refresh of the site and app will focus on three pillars: Alerts, News, and Faves. Related: 12 Leadership Lessons From Nextdoor CEO Alerts promises "to deliver real-time updates on everything from daily weather and traffic to critical moments like power outages, severe storms, and wildfires." Faves will utilize AI to deliver quick answers to questions like, "What is the best place to hike with kids?" according to the release. In a big push to become a source of reliable information, the News section will utilize content from 3,500 local news publications in the U.S., UK, and Canada. Collectively, the app will publish 50,000 local news stories per week. "Trusted outlets are now reaching neighbors directly through the platform, bringing community-focused journalism to neighborhoods everywhere," read the release. "We thought in our early days that neighbors would take over, almost as citizen journalists or local reporters," Tolia said to AP. "I think we've come to the conclusion that neighbors can only do so much." Related: Nextdoor's CMO Says Small Businesses Are Underutilizing One Critical Tool That Could Propel Their Marketing Efforts Tolia revealed that while Nextdoor has 100 million registered users, only about 25 million log in once a week. With these improvements, Nextdoor is hoping to boost that number, which could provide an ancillary boost for the struggling local news market. Tim Franklin, head of the Medill Local News Initiative at Northwestern, told the AP that this could provide a lifeline to sites getting killed by Google's AI answers. "If Nextdoor is another vessel to get readers to news sites, and local news sites in particular," Franklin said, "It would come at a real moment of vulnerability for local news organizations and would be a real opportunity." Go Green Global Technologies Corp. and Four DRobotics(R), Corp. Announce LOI to Merge and Launch Joint Agentic AI Efficiency Monitoring Systems

Planned merger will integrate Sonical™ clean-tech hardware with autonomous robotics and Agentic AI software to deliver next-generation infrastructure solutions. NEW YORK, NY / ACCESS Newswire / July 15, 2025 / Go Green Global Technologies Corp. (OTCQB:GOGR) ("Go Green" or the "Company"), a clean-tech company focused on sustainable water and fuel technologies, today announced the signing of a non-binding Letter of Intent (LOI) with Four DRobotics® Corp. ("FDR"), a Canadian-based automation and robotics firm specializing in edge-controlled systems for mission-critical infrastructure. The LOI sets forth the intent to merge the two companies into a single entity, creating a vertically integrated platform that combines Go Green's patented Sonical™ pulsed-power hardware with FDR's autonomous robotics and edge-intelligent control software. The merged entity will focus on delivering innovative, AI-enabled solutions for industrial efficiency and climate infrastructure. FDR develops autonomous robotic systems built on its proprietary edge software platform, serving mission-critical sectors such as mining, utilities, defense, and other high-reliability infrastructure domains. Its solutions are engineered for environments that demand decentralized control, real-time decision-making, and exceptional operational resilience. As part of the transaction, the companies plan to launch a joint R&D division to explore deep integration between FDR's Agentic-AI control software and the Sonical™ pulsed-power water and fuel treatment hardware. The first pilot under this initiative will be an autonomous AI HVAC optimization system that fuses intelligent automation with Sonical™ flow-conditioning. The goal is to deliver measurable improvements in energy usage, predictive maintenance, and emissions reduction for commercial and industrial facilities. "This is an exciting next chapter for both companies," said Corrine Couch, Chief Operating Officer of Go Green Global Technologies. "We're at a pivotal moment in the evolution of agentic AI, and this merger allows us to pioneer intelligent systems that combine software autonomy with high-impact hardware. By aligning with Four DRobotics, we can accelerate our mission to deliver sustainability solutions that not only protect the planet but also drive real savings for our customers." "Our mission at FDR has always been to bring autonomous intelligence to the edge through integration of Agentic AI and real-time control," said Jeremy James, President of Four DRobotics. "Specifically, integration of Go Green's Sonical™ platform with our Agentic AI solution creates a unified cyber-physical system capable of self-optimizing performance across energy, water, and industrial applications. This collaboration pushes the boundaries of what's possible in intelligent automation for mission-critical systems." In addition to the potential for new product synergies, the merger presents significant cross-sector commercialization opportunities. FDR's footprint in infrastructure markets such as mining, utilities, and perimeter security provides a natural channel for the broader deployment of Go Green's Sonical™ platform, particularly for water treatment, biofouling control, and fuel optimization. The LOI includes a 60-day due diligence period, during which the companies intend to negotiate definitive merger agreements. Completion of the merger remains subject to customary closing conditions, including regulatory review, board approvals, and execution of final transaction documents. Unsung AI stock pops after joining S&P 500

Though smaller-cap indexes swung wildly, the S&P 500 has been a lot more confident, continuing to grind higher in 2025. Unsurprisingly, Big Tech is pulling its weight, and AI momentum has shown no signs of fading. Don't miss the move: Subscribe to TheStreet's free daily newsletter That said, one rising AI stock just cleared a massive milestone, and it's quietly stepping onto a bigger stage that will usher in a new growth phase for its business. Image source: Bloomberg/Getty Images For companies, getting into the S&P 500 isn't just a flex; it's a monumental event. It's like hitting the jackpot, as you're not only thrown into the spotlight, but also unleashing billions in passive inflows from index funds. Once companies get the green light from the S&P Dow Jones Indices committee, it's game on, as traders, fund managers, and analysts don't wait around. Related: JPMorgan delivers blunt warning on S&P 500 Companies need a minimum market cap of roughly $22.7 billion, robust liquidity (dollar volume to float above 0.75), and a minimum of 250,000 monthly trading volume. On top of that, companies need at least a 10% public float, a U.S. headquarters, a major exchange listing, and yes, genuine profits in the last quarter and over the past year. An S&P 500 inclusion doesn't just mean a stock bump for companies. It brings more analyst coverage, attractive corporate optics, and even a lower financing structure. In simple terms, the company hits the big leagues, which shows investors that the business has genuine staying power. The index is up 6.6% so far in 2025; it's comfortably outpaced the Dow, while tracking slightly behind the Nasdaq. Generative AI and tech giants are doing all the heavy lifting, but consumer names haven't dropped the ball, either. Dips get snapped up quickly by investors who are hunting for value in places such as health care and utilities. Compared to the chaos in smaller-cap names, the S&P's healthy rise feels much more reliable. That's exactly the backdrop one "sleeper" stock just stepped into. The Trade Desk (TTD) just staked its claim to the S&P 500. Trade Desk stock surged 14% on Monday after the digital adtech platform was tapped to join the S&P 500. It replaced ANSYS ahead of its much-talked-about acquisition by Synopsys, with the move becoming official before markets open Friday, July 18. For investors, that upgrade means fresh new capital will be funneling into The Trade Desk, whether markets like it or not. The California-based company operates one of the most advanced AI-powered demand-side platforms (DSPs) in the market. The platform enables advertisers to buy across multiple digital channels, from mobile and desktop to streaming TV in real time. The real kicker? AI. At the core of its platform is Koa, a tailor-made AI engine that crunches bid signals to predict which ads are likely to perform well. It doesn't just automate bidding - it adapts in real time to efficiently maximize return on investment. And it's not stopping there. The Trade Desk recently launched cutting-edge new tools in tracking viewer behavior across screens, partnering with the leading streaming platforms while rolling out privacy-first identity tech with Unified ID 2.0. What's amazing is that despite the sluggishness in the ad market, The Trade Desk is growing. And now, with its S&P 500 inclusion, it's now finally playing at a tremendous scale.
