Richard Hughes to make opening OFFER for Alexander Isak
Liverpool have ALREADY enjoyed a record-breaking summer in the transfer window. Sporting director Richard Hughes has overseen £260m-worth of spending. Florian Wirtz has come on board as a British record arrival - with his fee reaching potentially £116m following his transfer from Bayer Leverkusen. LFC x New Era Shop Now LFC Signed Merch Shop Now LFC x Titleist Shop Now Hugo Ekitike cost an initial £69m from Eintracht Frankfurt - while Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong and Giorgi Mamardashvili are the other significant incomings. But the signing of Alexander Isak has the potential to blow those other deals out of the water. Liverpool clear the decks for Isak It would take another British record sum for the Reds to land their primary No9 target this summer. Space is already being cleared in the Liverpool squad - and the budget - in order to accommodate the arrival of the Sweden international. We've seen Luis Diaz leave for around £65m - he's joined Bayern Munich - while it's anticipated that Darwin Nunez, Federico Chiesa and Ben Doak could be next. Arne Slot will have a remodelled frontline to work with next season - including Mo Salah, Wirtz, Ekitike and Cody Gakpo. Liverpool need to strike a deal with Newcastle Isak scored 23 Premier League goals last season and looks a sure bet to become a Liverpool transfer hit. Right now he is training away from Newcastle's base having been left out of the travelling party for the club's preseason trip to Asia. In order to successfully integrate the 25-year-old into the squad at Anfield, first a deal must be struck with Newcastle. Under contract until 2028 - Isak has no intention of signing a new deal but the Geordies are still entitled to ask for a fair sum. It's been speculated that the North East side value Isak at around £150m - and now we have an indication of how much Liverpool are willing to offer in their opening bid. Newcastle braced for Liverpool bid According to Diario AS journalist Edu Burgos, Richard Hughes is getting ready to send a £120m offer across Eddie Howe's desk. 'Newcastle awaits Liverpool's first offer for Alexander Isak,' he wrote on X. 'It is expected to be above £120 million.' After that, it will all be about negotiation. Hughes has demonstrated his credentials already this summer - reducing the outlay on Wirtz for example to beneath Leverkusen's initial €150m demands. said to be around £250k per week.

Viktor Gyokeres ruthlessly mocked after nightmare Arsenal debut
Former Manchester United target, Viktor Gyokeres, endured a debut to forget for his new side Arsenal. Gyokeres chase The Red Devils were very keen on bringing in the Swedish striker this summer as he used to work with United manager Ruben Amorim at Sporting CP. Moreover, he was in lethal form last season, bagging 54 goals in all competitions. It has also been reported that the player heavily favoured a move to Arsenal over a reunion with Amorim, which supporters of the Gunners have naturally lapped up. Debut from hell Nonetheless, it was supporters of other teams that drew the first laugh as the Sweden international contributed virtually nothing in a 0-1 pre-season defeat to fierce rivals Tottenham Hotspur. In 14 minutes of action, he managed 0 shots on goal and 0 dribble attempts. He could also only manage two passes in the entire time he was on the field, failing to connect with his teammates in any meaningful way. The striker also didn't manage to get involved in any ground or aerial duels as he caused the Spurs' defence little to no problem during his brief stint on the pitch. Social media joy Football fandom is full of banter, especially in the social media age and it was awash with memes and mockery. X account Hater Central mocked his performance by stating, he must be 100% constipated after a line of 0s in his real statistics. Footy Humour also posted on X, 'welcome to the 001 club' mocking his lack of goals and Arsenal's inability to win trophies in recent years. Another X account, Troll Football, also mockingly compared Gyokeres' effort to United's Rasmus Hojlund. They posted 'Gyokeres against a team that was battling relegation last season' and 'Hojlund against a team that was battling for Europe last season.' New striker pursuit After missing out on Gyokeres, United have turned their attention to Benjamin Sesko and it has been reported that the club are prepared to make an official move for the striker. As fate would have it, United will face Gyokeres at Old Trafford on Sunday 17th August on the opening day of the season. Supporters will hope he has a similar impact on the game as he did on his debut. Featured image Gualter Fatia via Getty Images online polls Follow us on Bluesky: @

Liverpool rocked by rival contract offer for defender
Liverpool are facing considerable uncertainty over . The defender is out of contract in less than 12 months and so far no agreement has been reached over a new deal. If Konate and sporting director Richard Hughes cannot come to a conclusion over new terms then it is highly likely he will depart as a free agent in 2026. LFC Kits Shop Now LFC x New Era Shop Now LFC Signed Merch Shop Now LFC x Titleist Shop Now Real Madrid have been the team most closely linked with the 26-year-old - who joined the Reds from RB Leipzig in 2021. Konate's situation is one reason why Liverpool have been linked with centre-backs this summer. Having sold Jarell Quansah - and with Joe Gomez injury prone - it appears that Virgil van Dijk is the ONLY central defender the club can count on with any degree of certainty up to 2027. Nathan Zeze on Liverpool radar And there are established links with Marc Guehi - who is out of contract with Crystal Palace in 2026 - while reports are also suggesting Ronald Araujo could be a target. Younger options have also been discussed in the shape of Giovanni Leoni, Joel Ordonez and Nathan Zeze. Zeze, 20, is a product of the Nantes academy who has reportedly been on the radar of the Reds for a few months now. However they will NOT be signing the France under-21 international having been blown out of the water by a contract offer from Saudi Arabia. NEOM SC sign Zeze NEOM SC - a newly-promoted Saudi Pro League team - have completed the signing of Zeze for around €25m - a sum that Liverpool could have easily afforded. But TBR Football is reporting that the Reds - and Bournemouth - opted against making a rival bid for Zeze owing to the riches laid in front of him by the Saudis. 'Liverpool have pulled out of a move for an 'incredible' replacement for Jarell Quansah due to a 'huge offer' from the Saudi Pro League,' the report reads. 'Nantes have agreed an overall deal worth €25million (£21.5million) – which in theory the European clubs would have matched. 'However, the terms on offer in Saudi have pushed him beyond what they were willing to do.'
