China thanks India for rescuing crew onboard Singapore-flagged vessel after it caught fire off Kerala coast

She made the statement in response to the post shared by the Indian Coast Guard on X, which mentioned that the Indian Coast Guard responded to the fire incident on the Singapore-flagged MV Wan Hai 503.
Four crew members were reported missing and five injured after an explosion under deck was reported onboard MV WAN HAI 503 while it was on passage from Colombo to Nhava Sheva. Indian Coast Guard ships have been deployed for firefighting and rescue operations.
According to the Indian Coast Guard, four crew members were reported missing following the explosion on Monday, and five others sustained injuries. The vessel was carrying containerised cargo and had a total crew of 22 onboard. CGDO on task was diverted for assessment.
According to the Indian Navy, the vessel carried 22 crew members, including eight Chinese, six Taiwanese, five Myanmarese, and three Indonesian nationals. Following the explosion and escalation of the fire, the crew abandoned the ship. The MV reported an internal container explosion and a major fire onboard.
Indian Coast Guard units were immediately diverted for assessment and assistance. ICGS Rajdoot off New Mangalore, ICGS Arnvesh off Kochi, and ICGS Sachet off Agatti have been diverted for assistance. In a post on X, the Indian Coast Guard said an ICG aircraft assessed the scene and dropped an air-droppable.

Fires and explosions have been reported from mid-ships to the container bay ahead of the accommodation block. The forward-bay fire is under control, but thick smoke continues to be observed.
The vessel is listing approximately 10-15 degrees to port, and additional containers have been reported overboard. Indian Coast Guard ships Samudra Prahari and Sachet are conducting fire-fighting operations and boundary cooling, while ICG ship Samarth and salvors are being deployed from Kochi. Navy Invites JEE (Main) Qualifiers For Officer Roles After BTech Course
The Indian Navy has invited applications from unmarried men and women for Permanent Commission (PC) officers in Executive and Technical branches under the 10+2 (B Tech) Cadet Entry Scheme. Selected candidates will undergo a four-year BTech course at the Indian Naval Academy (INA), Ezhimala, Kerala, after which they will be commissioned as officers. Vacancies and Eligibility A total of 44 vacancies have been announced for this entry, including a maximum of six vacancies for women candidates. Applicants must be born between July 2, 2006, and January 1, 2009 (both dates inclusive). Branch allocation between Executive and Technical (Engineering & Electrical) disciplines will be decided at INA. Educational and Exam Requirements Candidates must have passed the Senior Secondary Examination (10+2 pattern) or an equivalent exam from a recognised board with a minimum of 70% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM), and at least 50% marks in English (in either Class 10 or 12). Only those who have appeared for JEE (Main) 2025 for B.E./ are eligible to apply. Shortlisting for the Service Selection Board (SSB) interview will be based on the JEE Main 2025 All India Common Rank List (CRL) released by NTA. Selection Process Shortlisted candidates will be notified via email and SMS for SSB interviews, scheduled from September 2025 at SSB centres in Bangalore, Bhopal, Kolkata, and Visakhapatnam.
