Now, 21 years later, Shah Rukh Khan has won the National Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role for his performance in Jawan. His award was announced by jury chairman for the feature films category, Ashutosh Gowariker, the director of Swades. Ashutosh later told NDTV, 'It's amazing. It's quite historic that one of the biggest stars of India and Indian cinema, after such a long, prolific career, has got an award for best acting at the National Film Awards in a year when he had three films. Him getting the award for Jawan is great because he has played a double role in that."
Meanwhile, after his win, Shah Rukh Khan shared a moving video thanking his fans, directors, and family for their unwavering support. The actor, currently recovering from an injury sustained on the sets of his upcoming film King, made the video despite being a bit 'indisposed". Shah Rukh thanked the directors and writers of 2023, with a special shoutout to Jawan director Atlee. He also thanked his wife and kids for dealing with his obsession with cinema.
