Fortune Feimster and Jacquelyn ‘Jax' Smith are heading for divorce after 5-year marriage
'Together, we have made the difficult decision to end our marriage,' they wrote in a statement posted on their Instagram accounts. 'We've been separated for a little bit, both of us dealing with tough health situations in our families, so it wasn't something we were ready to talk about.'
They continued, 'While we are sad to see this chapter of our lives come to a close, we wish each other nothing but the best as we move forward. We've had 10 years together, and there's so much to celebrate about that and so much we will look back on fondly.'
'The Mindy Project' actor, a Groundlings veteran, requested privacy in the wake of the news.
Smith was a kindergarten teacher and later joined Feimster's creative team, executive producing three of her comedy specials, 'Sweet & Salty' in 2020, 'Good Fortune' in 2022 and 'Crushing It' in 2024. The two met at a 2015 Pride event in Chicago, dated long distance for a few years, got engaged in 2018 and married in a small ceremony during the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The women's families attended the wedding via Zoom.
'I want people to know me and Jax are like everybody else,' the 44-year-old comedian told People in October 2022. 'We happen to be gay but our story is not much different from other people's. ... You don't have to be gay to relate to an engagement story.'
Divorce? Definitely — albeit unfortunately — relatable.
Feimster credits Chelsea Handler with launching her career as a writer-performer-standup comedian. She is credited as a writer on almost 600 episodes of 'Chelsea Lately' between 2011 and 2014.
'She was putting people on TV that no one else was putting on TV,' Feimster told The Times in 2023, 'and not really caring if you fit the mold of who should be on TV. ... She was the first person who gave me the 'yes' when everyone was telling me 'no.''

Pixar fires back at fans, critics on social media after ‘Elio' flops
Pixar is clearly frustrated by the dismal box office performance of its latest feature ' Elio,' and is starting to hit back at its critics on social media. The Emeryville-based animation studio, owned by Disney, recently posted a video to Instagram that follows a new internet trend where people share hard truths off-screen and then pretend they don't know where the source of the statement is. In this case, an unidentified woman sitting in a car is looking off screen when she says, 'Stop complaining that Disney doesn't make original stories if you don't show up to movie theaters and support them in the first place.' After a sound effect 'alerts' the woman that she is being filmed, she looks at the camera and says, 'Oh, my gosh, I thought I was the only one in my car!' She then holds up a poster for ' Elio ' and says, 'Anyways, there's a new original story from Disney Pixar ... called 'Elio,' you should go and support it.' 'Elio' opened in theaters on June 20, and so far is the worst performing Pixar movie in its history despite strong reviews, including by the Chronicle. As of Monday, June 30, the film holds an 83% approval rating by critics and 91% from audiences on review aggregate website Rotten Tomatoes. But that hasn't translated to ticket sales. After two weekends in theaters, the $150 million film about a lonely boy who becomes a galactic ambassador for Earth has grossed about $42 million domestically and $72 million globally. At issue is criticism leveled at the animation giant that it makes too many sequels and not enough movies based on new stories. Last year's ' Inside Out 2 ' took in $1.7 billion at the global box office and briefly became the highest-grossing animated film of all time. Next year's slate includes ' Toy Story 5,' with ' Incredibles 3 ' also in the works. But original films have struggled since ' Onward ' was released in theaters in 2020 on the cusp of the pandemic. ' Soul ' (late 2020), ' Luca ' (2021) and ' Turning Red ' (2022) all went straight to streaming on Disney+, while ' Lightyear ' (2022), an offshoot of the 'Toy Story' series, underperformed in theaters. ' Elemental ' (2023), an original film, also had a weak box office opening but hung around in theaters and eventually became a sleeper hit. With this new social media post, Pixar is hoping that 'Elio' can do the same.

Deion Sanders health improving as Colorado head coach eyes Big 12 media days
🔥 New Coach Prime x Ossacin TrackLil Wayne Showing Love"I gotta walk with this thing. Thing on my mind right now. I gotta get it off. Imma keep it 100"📽️ @DeionSandersJr Deion Sanders appears to be on the mend. A new video released by his son showed the Colorado football head coach walking gingerly around his Texas estate a week before Sanders is scheduled to appear at Big 12 media days. The video posted by Deion Sanders Jr. showed the 57-year-old coach receiving a visit from rapper Lil Wayne, one of several celebrity friends who have visited Sanders while he recovers from an unspecified health problem. Sanders and five players will represent Colorado on July 9 as part of the Big 12 annual media event. While it is expected that Sanders attends, his health has been a significant concern over the past few months. If he shows up in Frisco, Texas, next week, it would be Sanders' first public appearance since April when the Buffs wrapped up spring camp. He missed the football program's annual youth summer camps as well as Travis Hunter's wedding in late May. The only information Sanders divulged about his condition is that he lost 14 pounds, saying on a podcast with Asante Samuel that what he is dealing with "is at a another level." Once Big 12 media days start next week, Colorado enters the preparation phase for the 2025 season. The Buffs open the season with a home game against Georgia Tech on Aug. 29.
