Indiana Fever Coach Stephanie White Makes Feelings on DeWanna Bonner Clear

Indiana Fever Coach Stephanie White Makes Feelings on DeWanna Bonner Clear originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Indiana Fever currently sit in sixth place in the standings during the 2025 WNBA season. Despite star guard Caitlin Clark missing half of the contests due to injury and WNBA legend DeWanna Bonner leaving the team mid-season, the Fever have a 14-12 record. Bonner was brought in this offseason to complement the Fever's young core, which included Clark, Aliyah Boston and Lexie Hull. Keeping All-Star guard Kelsey Mitchell was also a big piece of the team's plans, and Sophie Cunningham was another strong offseason addition. Adding new head coach Stephanie White was also a key component, as she brought a wealth of coaching experience, including a previous stint with Indiana. White had coached Bonner for two seasons before when both were part of the Connecticut Sun in 2023 and 2024. Bonner was a two-time All-Star under White, and the team advanced to the semi-finals in the playoffs both seasons. After her falling out with the Fever, however, Bonner returned to where she spent the first 11 years of her WNBA career, the Phoenix Mercury. Ahead of the Mercury and Fever's first matchup since Bonner switched teams, White made her feelings on Bonner clear. "I think she's fit in perfectly with Phoenix, she does a really good job. Her and (Alyssa Thomas) play so well together," White said. "With her ability to be that stretch four, to complement, and her and Satou (Sabally) being able to play on the floor at the same time with AT. She's comfortable there; she's comfortable in that system. I'm glad that she's happy, and I'm glad she's found her spot.' Bonner is averaging 8.9 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game in 2025. Since joining the Mercury, however, she has increased her averages to 11.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.5 assists. Wednesday's game between Indiana and Phoenix will tip off at 7:00 p.m. ET at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in story was originally reported by Athlon Sports on Jul 29, 2025, where it first appeared.
