Flymo lawnmower cuts grass like a 'hot knife through butter' on sale
Lawnmowers can cost hundreds of pounds, but gardeners need not spend a small fortune on a grass cutting device. There are lots of best-selling and affordable options out there, including a customer favourite from Flymo.
Flymo's Speedi-Mo 360C Lawnmower has an RRP of £134.99; however, it's currently on sale at Amazon for £108. The brand says it is designed for use in medium to large-sized gardens, it also has a useful carry handle and a removable grass box.
Users can also choose their cutting height, with five settings between 20 and 60mm. The device has more than 8,500 Amazon shopper reviews, notably for its ability to 'cut grass beautifully'.
For shoppers who prefer storefront retailers, B&Q has a wide range of lawnmowers at various price points. For instance, this Einhell 32cm Rotary Lawn Mower is £69.95 - it has a three-stage single-wheel cutting height adjustment and a foldable guide bar.
Back to Amazon's Flymo Speedi-Mo, a 72-year-old customer, said she found it 'easy to assemble', adding: "Not sure why some say the grass box is flimsy. I suspect they are not putting it together properly, as I find it quite solid. Also, it is easy to remove, empty, and put back.
"I am so pleased with this mower. Grass had got really long and the mower went through it like a hot knife through butter. Not too heavy either. It is going to be so easy to maintain the lawn now."
A second buyer had difficulty assembling it due to missing parts, they said: "Two (of the) right hand sections of the grass box have been sent so I can't get it together! No answer from Flymo's customer service line, so I have sent them a lengthy email to get a replacement grass box. Apart from that it was easy to put together and is flying across the first cut so far."
Another shopper gave it 10 out of 10, writing: "Cuts my grass beautifully and very easy to move making it easy work! Went together easily too. 10/10."
A second lawnmower option is from Yimbly, where the Thompson & Morgan Aerotek lawnmower is on sale for £116.99. Usually £159.99, it is on general sale for £117 but using the discount code SUMMERDAYS10 at the checkout shoppers can buy it for £116.99.
Yimbly is an online marketplace owned by The Mirror's parent company, Reach Plc, and shipping on a customer's first order is free. The discount code is valid for use until July 31.
A fourth Flymo Speedi-Mo buyer simply wrote: "Great little mower. Cut the grass beautifully."

One of America's most important companies slashes 20,000 jobs and offers huge buyouts
UPS is offering voluntary buyouts to its full-time US drivers following its decision to slash 20,000 jobs and close 73 facilities. The Atlanta-based company will be providing its laid off employees with various benefits, including pensions and healthcare. The layoffs are part of UPS's network configuration plan, which also confirms the upcoming closures of over 90 more facilities in the future. The changes are part of the company's $3.5 billion cost reduction target for 2025, aiming to reach a 12 percent US operational margin by next year. UPS, which is one of the largest parcel delivery companies in the US, currently has 490,000 employees, around 330,000 of which are represented by the Teamsters union. The union was the first to announce the buyout, calling it an 'illegal violation' of the national contract in which UPS committed to create 22,500 jobs. 'Our members cannot be bought off and we will not allow them to be sold out. UPS needs to live up to the existing contract. They must honor their commitments,' said Sean O'Brien, general president of the union. The announcement comes months after UPS decided to halve the number of Amazon deliveries it takes before tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump took effect. Deliveries for the e-commerce giant make up around 12 percent of UPS's revenue. The company concluded that its profit margins from Amazon deliveries profit were too small, and it wanted to focus on other markets like healthcare and international deliveries. 'The world has not been faced with such enormous potential impacts to trade in more than 100 years,' said CEO Carol Tomé. Prior to these massive layoffs, UPS axed 12,000 employees and closed 11 facilities last year after its income declined by $1.87 billion due to its 'disappointing year' in 2023. Those layoffs came less than six months after UPS and Teamsters reached a $30 billion deal with its 340,000 person-union, avoiding a potential strike. 'The actions we are taking to reconfigure our network and reduce cost across our business could not be timelier,' Tomé said. 'The macro environment may be uncertain, but with our actions, we will emerge as an even stronger, more nimble UPS.' The 20,000 UPS employees are not alone in this year's string of mass layoffs. UPS CEO Carol Tomé believes the actions being taken to reconfigure its network and cost reduction 'could not be timelier' Amazon CEO Andy Jassy said he plans to reduce the company's corporate workforce over the next few years as AI will make certain roles redundant. It comes after the company laid off around 18,000 employees in 2023, informing them via email. Intel joined the job bloodbath last month by laying off 20,000 employees, particularly those who worked in factories. Microsoft also confirmed it would cut around 4 percent of its global workforce as it ramps up investments in artificial intelligence. The tech giant will slash around 9,000 jobs across different teams, geographies and levels of experience, it said on Wednesday. Besides iconic tech empires, Walmart is scaring its employees by slashing about 1,500 US jobs months after it laid off hundreds of workers in North Carolina.

Fourth of July barbeque prices have risen since Trump imposed tariffs, congressional analysis says
Americans may spend more on common barbeque items this Fourth of July with prices on products like beer, outdoor folding chairs and grill tools higher, according to a new congressional report. The total cost of a typical grocery trip for a cookout has increased by a 12.7% annualized rate since President Donald Trump 's sweeping tariff announcement in April, according to the analysis by the Joint Economic Committee's Democratic minority arm. It calculated the price increase using consumer price index data for the most popular food and beverage items for a 10-person summer cookout. The minority analysis found that a six-pack of bottled lite domestic beer from Miller Lite and Coors Light increased by more than 13% each since the April tariff announcement. The analysis looked at Walmart to find the most popular products and tracked their prices from April 1 to June 26 using price checking website AisleGopher. For imported beers, the minority analysis found a 10.5% price increase for bottles of Peroni Nastro Azzurro and a 9.5% increase for Modelo Especial bottles. In April, Trump announced 25% tariffs on beer imports and empty aluminum cans. In early June, his administration hiked tariffs on imported aluminum to 50%. Some beer brands, including Modelo owner Constellation Brands, have said higher aluminum costs have weighed on margins. The analysis also found price increases for key cookout gear by tracking popular listings on Amazon using price-checking websites and Since April 1, Amazon listings for a Coleman foldable camping chair increased 47.7% and a 25-piece griddle accessories kit increased 17.7%, according to the report. Other products saw more modest increases. A Banana Boat sunscreen rose 8.1%, Reynolds Wrap aluminum foil rose 6.9%, a Weber propane grill increased 5% and a multi-pack of disposable plates and utensils rose 3.3%, the report said. A separate May report from Rabobank, a global food and agribusiness bank, found that the cost of a 10-person barbeque rose 4.2% this year and will hit $100 for the first time ever. Its barbeque index highlighted higher beef prices as a contributing factor.
