WATCH: Ohio State fan Denny Hamlin throws up O-H after winning NASCAR race in Michigan
Denny Hamlin is an elite NASCAR driver and outspoken Ohio State Buckeyes fan. There are plenty of rumors on the internet and comments in media about why and how his Buckeye fandom started, but it got far more intense this season. After winning his first race of the year this seaon back in March, he waved an "11 Against the World" flag (his car is No.11).
Hamlin certainly outdid himself this race, though. He made a late pass for the lead and held on to win his third race of the season (and 57th overall career win) at Michigan International Speedway, in Brooklyn, MI (about 40 miles from the Ohio border). He then threw up an O-H to the stands twice after getting out of his car to celebrate the win. Fans were still cheering, but that moment got some predictable boos. All in all, NASCAR fans still love him, but Buckeye fans will probably love him even more for now.
This is not the first time Hamlin has good-naturedly angered crowds when he travels to races. He recently threw a "Horns Down" sign before his race in Michigan a month ago. He finished that race 38th.

Logano keeps lead for first 43 laps after winning pole at rain-delayed NASCAR Cup race at Atlanta
HAMPTON, Ga. (AP) — With Joey Logano in the lead, the NASCAR Cup Series at Atlanta resumed following a rain delay Saturday night. After winning the pole, Logano led the first 36 laps before light rain forced the first caution. Drivers remained on the track before being sent to pit road on Lap 43. The race resumed following a delay of about 15 minutes. The Atlanta race at EchoPark Speedway, formerly known as Atlanta Motor Speedway, is the debut of the 32-driver In-Season Challenge, a five-race, bracket-style tournament. The 32 drivers in the In-Season Challenge had yellow banners on their windshield. Denny Hamlin is the No. 1 seed in the tournament. Chase Briscoe, who held off Hamlin for his first win for Joe Gibbs Racing last week at Pocono Raceway, is the No. 2 seed. A $1 million prize awaits the winner as part of a new media rights deal that includes TNT. Led by Logano on the pole, each of Team Penske's three drivers started on the first two rows. Logano was joined by Josh Berry on the front row, and Berry drives for Wood Brothers but has a technical alliance with Team Penske. Overall, Ford had the top eight spots in the field. Austin Cindric was in second when rain forced the caution. Weather woes Lightning and rain delayed qualifying Friday and the Xfinity race won by Nick Sanchez late Friday night. More lightning and rain threatened Saturday night's race. Fans were encouraged to leave the stands about 90 minutes before the race due to severe weather in the area but were allowed to return as pre-race were conducted as planned. Boom! Ohio State gets commitment from four-star defensive lineman
110% COMMITTED! GO BUCKS! 🌰 Boom! Ohio State has landed a verbal pledge from coveted defensive lineman Damari Simeon. The commitment came early in the weekend as the Buckeyes beat out Michigan, Penn State, and Texas to land his services. Simeon was somewhat of a late bloomer in terms of recruiting. He did not have a composite ranking as of February when Larry Johnson first offered the young man, but shot up the recruiting boards in recent months. By the time summer rolled around, Simeon had offers from many of the big boys, including Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Tennessee, and more. Simeon is a four-star prospect from New Jersey and is the No. 26-ranked defensive lineman in the country according to 247Sports composite rankings. Simeon is the 18th overall commit in the class and becomes the second defensive lineman in the class, joining Khary Wilder. Ohio State currently sits at No. 5 in the 247Sports Composite rankings.
