San Antonio Spurs, De'Aaron Fox agrees to four-year, $228M extension, AP source says

SAN ANTONIO (AP) — San Antonio Spurs guard De'Aaron Fox has agreed to a four-year, $228 million maximum contract extension, a person with knowledge of the situation said Monday. Fox is under contract this season for the final year of his five year, $163 million deal. The extension starts in 2026-27, said the person, who spoke with The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the Spurs have yet to announce the agreement. ESPN first reported the deal. The move was expected after the Spurs made a big splash at the trade deadline last season by getting Fox from the Sacramento Kings. Fox has career averages of 21.5 points and 6.1 assists in eight NBA seasons. He averaged 19.8 points and 6.7 assists in 17 games with the Spurs last season. The Spurs, with Fox, Victor Wembanyama, rookie of the year Stephon Castle and this year's No. 2 pick Dylan Harper, appear poised to be a challenger in the Western Conference. ___ AP Basketball Writer Tim Reynolds contributed to this report. ___ AP NBA:

Falcons sign Kaleb McGary to two-year extension worth $30 million

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. — Two weeks ago, Atlanta Falcons coach Raheem Morris said he has 'so much confidence' in right tackle Kaleb McGary. On Monday, the franchise backed that up by giving the six-year veteran a two-year contract extension. 'Obviously, he excels in the run game,' Morris said. 'You're talking about a guy who is (a) top five (blocker) on that side running the ball.' Advertisement McGary, 30, entered training camp in the final year of a three-year deal that is set to pay him $16.5 million this season. At the time, he said he would be happy to talk about a new deal 'anytime they want to pay me.' 'You will never find somebody more willing to be paid in all your life, trust me,' McGary said. However, he continued, 'If I don't do my job well enough, there's not much reason to worry about it. One thing at a time.' Blocking through 2027 🔒 — Atlanta Falcons (@AtlantaFalcons) August 4, 2025 McGary has started 92 games for the Falcons since being the No. 31 pick in the 2019 draft. His new deal is worth $30 million. That makes him the 13th-highest-paid right tackle in the league by average annual value, according to 'Love Kaleb, love where he is at,' assistant general manager Kyle Smith said when training camp opened. 'He looks really good, too.' McGary has become Atlanta's blindside blocker now that left-handed quarterback Michael Penix Jr. has taken over the starting job. He was the ninth-rated blocker in the NFC South by Pro Football Focus a year ago, grading out at 77.8 in the run game and 63.8 in the passing game. 'He's a physical tone-setter in the run game,' right guard Chris Lindstrom said. 'He does things that are unfathomable in the NFL to see what he can do to people.' 'He's a great human being,' offensive line coach Dwayne Ledford said. 'We love him in the room, but on the field he is a force for us because of his size, his strength and what he can do at the point of attack.'
