Broncos special teams coach gives his thoughts on Marvin Mims
Fans should expect big things from that duo in 2025.
'He's a player that I've always admired," Rizzi said when asked about Mims during mandatory minicamp. "We [the New Orleans Saints] watched him from afar, obviously played against the Broncos last year and had a chance to study him. He's a guy that seemed to show up on the plays of the week film every week. We would show our players great special teams plays from around the league, so I've always admired him. I remember him in the draft process because we had a high grade on him coming out, so now to get a chance to work with him, and work together with him [is] really exciting. There's still a lot of things he can do. I don't know if this kickoff return is getting as much publicity as it should. I think it's really going to change the game for the entire league this year.
"We're going to see a dramatic increase in returns. You look back last year, if I'm not mistaken, he had single-digit kick returns and people were just kicking touchbacks. This year, the analytics are going to tell you to put the ball in play, so I think he'll get more opportunities. I think the guy that's back there with him is going to get a lot of opportunities because I'm sure they'll try to play keep away from him as well. He's been a great leader with our younger guys, and I'm really excited to work with him during the season.'
In addition to totaling 545 yards from scrimmage and scoring six touchdowns on offense last season, Mims also returned 26 punts for 408 yards (leading the league with 15.7 yards per return), and he ran back seven kickoffs for 194 yards. Rizzi now expects the dynamic receiver to get even more return opportunities in 2025. Entering his third season in the NFL, Mims already has two Pro Bowl nods, a second-team All-Pro selection (2023) and a first-team All-Pro selection (2024) on his resume. Mims is an explosive weapon for Denver, and his stock continues to trend up.

Browns must inquire about TE Noah Fant
The Cleveland Browns are still a bit light at the tight end position, and a recently released first round pick fits the bill of the kind of players they like to take chances on. Noah Fant, a 2019 first round pick of the Denver Broncos, was released by the Seattle Seahawks over the weekend. With only David Njoku and rookie third round pick Harold Fannin Jr. as the only two tight ends of relevance on the roster, the Browns could look to kick the tires on the athletic receiving threat. The Browns have been quite vocal that they are looking to get two or three tight ends back on the field with frequency, returning to an offensive system that yielded fruitful results before the 2023 season. Fant fits their mold, both athletically and in their tendency to take flyers on former first rounders, but would also fill a need that will currently be battled out between Blake Whiteheart and Brenden Bates. Fant, while he has never found the success that many anticipated he would, has racked up over 3,300 yards and 15 touchdowns over his six-year career. He has been a consistent 500-yard receiver, and with the Browns lacking firepower in their wide receiver room, getting more versatile weapons in their tight end room may be their best bet to add talented pass catchers to their offense. Fantasy football burning questions: Analyzing the AFC East
NFL training camps and fantasy football drafts are as much a part of summer as road trips and days at the beach. To help you enjoy all the fun the season has to offer, USA TODAY Sports is conducting a virtual tour through each of the NFL's eight divisions to get a sense of the most important issue or question facing every team from a fantasy standpoint. Whether it's a new arrival or departure, an important position battle, a player under the gun or a potential breakout, we have the fantasy insights to help shape your draft strategy. Today, we take a closer look at the AFC East. Buffalo Bills (13-4 last season) Is overrated in fantasy? Well, it's technically impossible to be underrated if you're the QB1, but let's look a little closer at what's made Allen so valuable. First off, it's consistency. Every year from 2020 to 2023, he was either the No. 1 or No. 2 fantasy quarterback – before slipping to No. 4 last season. Second, Allen's rushing ability puts him over the top. He's carried the ball over 100 times each of the past six seasons, with a career-high 15 rushing TDs in 2023 and another 12 last season. But slipping below 4,000 yards passing for the first time in five years cost him valuable fantasy points and led to his "slide" to No. 4. Despite the offseason additions of Joshua Palmer and Elijah Moore, Allen's receiving corps is still uninspiring. Khalil Shakir had a bit of a breakout last year, but still managed just four touchdown catches, while highly touted rookie Keon Coleman was horribly inconsistent. Allen can't rely primarily on his legs to get the job done. Resist the temptation to draft him early. Top players () Josh Allen (QB1, overall: 23) James Cook (RB16, overall: 44) Khalil Shakir (WR38, overall: 82) Dalton Kincaid (TE12) Miami Dolphins (8-9) Can De'Von Achane maintain his explosiveness over a full season? As one of the fastest players in the league, Achane undoubtedly has big-play potential. But standing just 5-9 and weighing 188 pounds, he can't be a typical workhorse back. Even so, he rushed for over 900 yards and caught 78 passes last season and finished as the RB5 for the season. However, Miami's offense, especially wide receivers Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, took a step backward. Achane, who played in all 17 games, didn't have the huge fantasy-winning weeks that peppered his injury-shortened 2023 season. His rushing average fell from 7.8 yards per carry to 4.5. Achane will still be extremely valuable in PPR leagues after leading all running backs with 78 receptions and 592 yards. Just don't expect the volume of other elite running backs. Top players () De'Von Achane (RB5, overall: 14) Tyreek Hill (WR16, overall: 28) Jaylen Waddle (WR27, overall: 54) Tua Tagovailoa (QB22) New York Jets (5-12) Is the Justin Fields breakout coming? Another year, another quarterback for Gang Green. But even in the aftermath of the Aaron Rodgers experiment, there seems to be a flicker of hope for the Jets. It begins with new head coach Aaron Glenn, a defensive mastermind who'll have one of the league's best units at his disposal. The real question is on the other side of the football. Alongside running back Breece Hall and wideout Garrett Wilson, Fields will have the best opportunity of his career to succeed. He did show flashes in 2022, when he rushed for 1,143 yards and eight TDs with the Chicago Bears. But to take the next step, he'll have to improve in the passing game. That's where new offensive coordinator Tanner Engstrand, coming over from the Lions with Glenn, factors in. The Jets offense hasn't ranked higher than 23rd in scoring or total yards since 2015, but with Fields (still only 26) at the controls, improvement should follow. Top players () Garrett Wilson (WR13, overall: 22) Breece Hall (RB13, overall: 39) Justin Fields (QB10, overall: 88) New England Patriots (4-13) How much difference will WR Stefon Diggs make? While rookie QB Drake Maye occasionally looked good as he was thrown directly into the fire, the Patriots offense was pretty abysmal overall. The Pats averaged a league-worst 176 passing yards per game with Maye throwing to a revolving cast of receivers. Several of those receivers are back again, but now heading the group is offseason aquisition Stefon Diggs. The four-time Pro Bowler was limited to eight games and 41 receptions last year in Houston due to a torn ACL, but when fully healthy, Diggs, 31, gives Maye a clear go-to target. Keep an eye on their chemistry during training camp. Adding standout Ohio State RB TreVeyon Henderson in the second round of the draft should help open up the offense even more. 7 Baltimore Ravens on the roster bubble entering training camp
With the report date just five days away, we're looking at seven big-named Ravens who are squarely on the roster bubble. The Ravens have a dominant roster, with ten players landing in the top ten rankings from ESPN's positional poll. Baltimore has few holes on the roster, and even less opportunity for an under-the-radar or veteran player to steal a job or cause a surprise cut. In five days, the entire team will return to the Under Armour Performance Center motivated after an offseason of slights and trash talk from looming opponents. With the report date just five days away, we're looking at seven big-named Ravens who are squarely on the roster bubble. QB --Devin Leary Baltimore didn't select a quarterback in the NFL draft and signed no signal callers in the undrafted free agent class. The Ravens have an MVP as QB1 and a solid backup in Cooper Rush. Baltimore did select a quarterback in last year's NFL Draft, Devin Leary, out of Kentucky in the sixth round, but it didn't work out too well. Leary was cut in the preseason and then signed to the practice squad. If the Ravens carry two quarterbacks on the roster, Leary could be released and signed to the practice squad again. RB Rasheen Ali Baltimore didn't draft a running back and only has four players on the roster at the position. Henry is an All-Pro, Justice Hill is a solid No. 2 running back, and Keaton Mitchell provides a home run threat. Ali needs a strong training camp to warrant the Ravens carrying three running backs. WR Malik Cunningham Baltimore has ten wide receivers on the roster after selecting Colorado's LaJohntay Wester in Round 6. Cunningham is the only player in the position who is not a natural wide receiver but offers special-teams abilities. Cunningham needs an intense training camp to warrant a roster spot over Dayton Wade, Anthony Miller, and Keith Kirkwood. TE Zaire Mitchell-Paden Baltimore has a big three at the tight end position, and two of the top players in the league. Charlie Kolar is the clear No. 3, making things difficult for Mitchell-Paden. DT-C.J. Okoye Okoye, a Nigerian native, first joined the Chargers as part of the International Player Pathway Program. He had a sack in his first organized football game in the preseason. He'll compete in a position group that includes Nnamdi Madubuike, Travis Jones, John Jenkins, and Jayson Jones. OLB David Ojabo A former second-round pick entering the final year of his rookie deal, Ojabo will battle Adisa Isaac, Tavius Robinson, and rookie Mike Green for snaps. Things can only go up for Ojabo after he played in 13 games last season. He has four sacks in his first three seasons, and it's now or never for the former Michigan pass rusher. OL Ben Cleveland Cleveland saw action in all 17 regular-season games as a backup at left guard, plus both playoff contests. The 2021 third-round pick finished the final year of his rookie deal and had no major suitors on the open market. Baltimore added three players to the NFL draft and has solid depth in key positions. Cleveland could be the odd man out if Emery Jones, Carson Vinson, or Garrett Dellinger established themselves at the offensive guard position.
