Tata Motors Group reported a 9 per cent year-on-year decline in global wholesales for the first quarter of FY26, with total volumes falling to 2,99,664 units. The decline was led by a drop in both commercial and passenger vehicle sales across its global operations, including subsidiary Jaguar Land Rover (JLR).
Commercial vehicle wholesales, including Tata Daewoo, stood at 87,569 units in Q1 FY26, down 6 per cent compared to the same quarter last year. Passenger vehicle (PV) wholesales, which include the company's electric vehicle portfolio, also witnessed a 10 per cent drop, with total sales at 1,24,809 units.
JLR, the UK-based luxury vehicle arm of Tata Motors, saw an 11 per cent year-on-year decline in global wholesales, reaching 87,286 units. Of this, Jaguar accounted for 2,339 units, while Land Rover contributed 84,947 units. The JLR figures do not include volumes from the company's China joint venture, CJLR (Chery Jaguar Land Rover).
The company said the volume decline was expected, primarily due to the phasing out of legacy Jaguar models ahead of new product launches and a temporary pause in shipments to the US during April, following the introduction of import tariffs.
Despite the overall decline, JLR said its more profitable models—Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, and Defender—accounted for a higher share of sales. These three models comprised 77.2 per cent of total wholesale volumes in Q1 FY26, compared to 66.3 per cent in the previous quarter and 67.8 per cent a year ago.

DLF-Trident Realty JV sells all 416 flats in Mumbai project for Rs 2,300cr

Agency: PTI Last Updated: New Delhi, Jul 25 (PTI) India's largest realty firm DLF Ltd and Trident Realty have sold all 416 flats for around Rs 2,300 crore in a luxury residential project in Mumbai on high demand. In a regulatory filing on Friday, DLF said that the entire 416 units launched in the first phase of 'The Westpark' project has been sold for Rs 2,300 crore in less than a week. DLF arm DLF Home Developers Ltd is developing this project at Andheri West in partnership with Trident Realty. 'Our entry into Mumbai represents a significant strategic milestone for DLF," said Aakash Ohri, Joint Managing Director and Chief Business Officer, DLF Home Developers Ltd. 'Mumbai has always been a key component of our national growth strategy, and with the launch of The Westpark, we are proud to offer a development that resonates with the aspirations of the city's discerning residents," he added. DLF and Trident Realty will invest around Rs 900 crore to develop this luxury housing project at Andheri (West). The company launched the first phase of this 5-acre project in a price range of Rs 42,000 per sq ft to Rs 47,000 per sq ft. It sold flats in a range of Rs 4 crore to Rs 7.5 crore. In July 2023, DLF had announced its re-entry in Mumbai market by partnering with NCR-based builder Trident group. Then, DLF had said that the company would hold a 51 per cent stake in the special purpose vehicle (SPV) which will develop this project. The remaining 49 per cent would be with Trident Group. This is a Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) project. DLF had entered Mumbai two decades ago with purchase of a land parcel. But, in 2012, DLF had sold 17-acre land parcel in Mumbai to Lodha Developers for Rs 2,700 crore. It had also formed a joint venture with Akruti City to develop a few projects, but could not launch any project. DLF, the country's largest real estate firm in terms of market capitalisation, reported a record sales bookings of Rs 21,223 crore in 2024-25 fiscal, an increase of 44 per cent from Rs 14,778 crore in the preceding financial year. DLF's MD Ashok Tyagi recently gave sales bookings guidance for the current fiscal at Rs 20,000-22,000 crore, almost in same range as last financial year. Last month, the company launched and completely sold the 'DLF Privana North' housing project in Gurugram, comprising 1,164 units. DLF will invest around Rs 5,500 crore to develop this 17.7 acre project, which has already been completely sold out for around Rs 11,000 crore. With the successful launch of Gurugram and Mumbai projects, DLF has already achieved more than 50 per cent of its annual sales bookings target. On financial performance, DLF's net profit increased to Rs 4,366.82 crore during 2024-25 fiscal from Rs 2,723.53 crore in the preceding year. Total income rose to Rs 8,995.89 crore in the last fiscal from Rs 6,958.34 crore in the 2023-24 financial year. Since its inception, DLF has developed more than 185 real estate projects and developed an area more than 352 million square feet. DLF Group has 280 million square feet of development potential across residential and commercial segment, including current projects under execution and the identified pipeline. The group has an annuity portfolio of over 45 million square feet. DLF is primarily engaged in the business of the development and sale of residential properties (the Development Business) and the development and leasing of commercial and retail properties (the Annuity Business). Stock Market Updates: Sensex Falls 350 Points, Nifty Below 25,000; Bajaj Twins, Nestle Top Drags

Domestic equity markets may remain volatile on Friday, the final trading session of the week Sensex Today: Domestic equity markets may remain volatile on Friday, the final trading session of the week, amid multiple market-moving cues. These include Q1 earnings, India's weekly forex reserves data (for the week ended July 18), developments in the India-UK trade agreement, mixed global trends, institutional flows, and ongoing primary market activity. At 8:40 AM, GIFT Nifty futures were trading 131 points lower at 24,964, hinting at a gap-down opening for benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty. Global Cues Asian markets traded largely lower on Thursday as investors digested recent global economic signals and trade developments. Japan's Nikkei 225 slipped 0.55%, and the Topix index fell 0.73%. Australia's ASX 200 declined 0.51%, while South Korea's Kospi remained flat. In the US, weekly jobless claims dropped by 4,000 to 217,000, defying expectations of a rise to 227,000. This marked the sixth straight weekly decline, suggesting a still-resilient labour market. However, continuing claims inched up to 1.955 million, the second-highest level since November 2021—signalling that while layoffs remain low, hiring momentum may be softening. Meanwhile, the S&P Global US Composite PMI rose to 54.6 in July, up from 52.9 in June, pointing to the strongest private sector growth in 2025 so far. The surge was led by a sharp rebound in services activity—the fastest since December—while manufacturing output also improved, albeit more moderately. US stocks extended gains, with the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite notching new all-time closing highs. The S&P 500 edged up 0.07% to close at 6,363.35, and the Nasdaq rose 0.18% to 21,057.96. However, the Dow Jones Industrial Average lagged, falling 316.38 points or 0.7% to settle at 44,693.91, weighed down by earnings-related declines in some heavyweight stocks. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Exclusive-Indian Firm Shipped Explosives To Russia Despite US Warnings

The State Department did not respond to a follow-up question regarding the financial stakes held by U.S. and Spanish firms in one of the Russian recipient companies. An Indian company shipped $1.4 million worth of an explosive compound with military uses to Russia in December, according to Indian customs data seen by Reuters, despite U.S. threats to impose sanctions on any entity supporting Russia's Ukraine war effort. One of the Russian companies listed as receiving the compound, known as HMX or octogen, is the explosives manufacturer Promsintez, which an official at Ukraine's SBU security service said has ties to Moscow's military. The official said that Ukraine launched a drone attack in April against a Promsintez-owned factory. The other Russian company is a subsidiary of Spanish explosives manufacturer Maxam, which is itself controlled by New York-based private equity firm Rhone Capital. The U.S. government has identified HMX as "critical for Russia's war effort" and has warned financial institutions against facilitating any sales of the substance to Moscow. According to the Pentagon's Defense Technical Information Center and related defense research programs, HMX is widely used in missile and torpedo warheads, rocket motors, exploding projectiles and plastic-bonded explosives for advanced military systems. The HMX sale to Russian firms has not been previously reported. Russian defense manufacturers have been working around the clock for the past several years to sustain President Vladimir Putin's war in Ukraine, which intensified with Russia's full-scale invasion of its neighbor in 2022. India, which has recently forged closer ties with the United States in an effort to counterbalance China's growing influence, has not abandoned its longstanding military and economic ties with Moscow. India's trade with Russia – especially its purchases of Russian oil – has remained robust, even as Western nations have tried to cripple Russia's war economy with sanctions. U.S. President Donald Trump threatened earlier in July to hit nations with a 100% tariff if they continued purchasing Russian crude. The U.S. Treasury Department has the authority to sanction those who sell HMX and similar substances to Russia, according to three sanctions lawyers. HMX is known as a "high explosive," meaning it detonates rapidly and is designed for maximum destruction. Reuters has no indication that the HMX shipments violated Indian government policy. One Indian official with knowledge of the shipments said that the compound has some limited civilian applications, in addition to its better-known military uses. India's foreign ministry said in a statement: "India has been carrying out exports of dual-use items taking into account its international obligations on non-proliferation, and based on its robust legal and regulatory framework that includes a holistic assessment of relevant criteria on such exports." The U.S. State Department did not comment on the specific shipments identified by Reuters but said it had repeatedly communicated to India that companies doing military-related business are at risk of sanctions. "India is a strategic partner with whom we engage in full and frank dialogue, including on India's relationship with Russia," a spokesperson said. "We have repeatedly made clear to all our partners, including India, that any foreign company or financial institution that does business with Russia's military industrial base are at risk of U.S. sanctions." The State Department did not respond to a follow-up question regarding the financial stakes held by U.S. and Spanish firms in one of the Russian recipient companies. Russia's defense ministry did not respond to a request for comment. "While India has not typically been among the primary jurisdictions used for circumventing sanctions, we are aware that isolated cases can occur," Ukrainian presidential adviser Vladyslav Vlasiuk told Reuters. "We can confirm that the Russian company Promsintez has appeared on our radar in the past, including in connection with cooperation involving Indian counterparts," added Vlasiuk, President Volodymyr Zelenskiy's top sanctions official. WASHINGTON WOOS NEW DELHI Reuters identified two HMX shipments sent in December by Indian firm Ideal Detonators Private Limited, both of which were unloaded in St. Petersburg, according to the Indian customs data. An Indian government official with direct knowledge of the shipments confirmed them. One shipment, worth $405,200, was purchased by a Russian company called High Technology Initiation Systems, or HTIS, the data showed. The other shipment, worth more than $1 million was purchased by Promsintez. Both purchasers are based in Samara Oblast, near the border of Kazakhstan in southern Russia, according to the data. HTIS says on its website it produces explosives for surface and underground mining and engineering projects. It describes itself there as a subsidiary of Madrid-based Maxam, which in turn is majority-controlled by Rhone Capital, a New York-headquartered private equity firm set up by former Goldman Sachs and Lazard bankers. A source familiar with Maxam's operations said the company is in the process of divesting its Russian subsidiaries and that HTIS operates independently. Ideal Detonators Private Limited, based in the Indian state of Telangana, did not respond to a request for comment, nor did Promsintez, HTIS and Maxam. Rhone Capital declined to comment. While several Indian entities were sanctioned during the administration of former U.S. President Joe Biden for supporting Russia's war effort, sanctions were applied sparingly due to geopolitical considerations, according to two U.S. officials who worked on sanctions under Biden. Under Trump, Russia-related sanctions work has slowed to a trickle, and it is not clear if the United States will take further action against Indian companies doing business with Russia's defense industry. top videos View all Washington has long sought closer relations with India to pull the South Asian country away from China. Jason Prince, a partner at Washington-based law firm Akin, said the U.S. government often prefers to communicate its concerns privately to allies and only take punitive actions as a last resort.
